Taken down by a sniper at the age of 66.

The series’s plotline carries over into the 25th issue of the Captain America comic: the icon is gunned down while on his way to the courtroom to face charges for his role in the civil war.

Not like they wont bring him back but i was kinda bummed this didn't get the same attention that superman dying did. Not surprised just kinda bummed out. Mad love to Captain America.

/salute

Yes i'm a huge nerd and in to comic books. Have been for years. This made me sad. :(

Circa 1990 ... something, i'll dig up the date later. Early 90s, DC went to redevelope his powers and stuff shortly after with like .. an elctric based superman that flopped and made readers super-pissed. It was what i woke up to on the radio that morning. All over the news all day.

I had to go digging around a couple links before i got a decent article on ole cap tho.

Cap getting killed was a total surprise, actually. Marvel decided to spring it on everyone, and didn't even tell the comic book stores, lol. When they offed Superman, they were building up to it for about a month.

I will say this much if you're a fan of the books and whatnot 'The life and death of superman' is about the best paperback you'll get ahold of evar. I also recommend 'No man's land' for batman fans out there or if you just like decent writing based in a comic book universe. I wish they'd make a movie based on either. The build up of the storyline and the fight with doomsday was epic.

This kinda hit me below the belt in an 'ow my childhood' kinda way.

pardon me for being a newb to these things but how did they kill off superman?

Some big motherfucker came to earth and they brawled it out.

Superman deserved more love, his death was epic.

This Capt America thing sucked though. Taken down by a bullet. That hurt. Cap was one of my favorites.

So I went into my local comic book store to get the inside scoop, and the owner said that Captain America was shot. While the comic infers death, but doesn't say so. Sliding sales of the comic have been stemmed for at least a couple of weeks. ;)

A bullet to the head?
What a bitch ass way to go. He could have at least caught it in his teeth.

Meh background noise.

More's the pity. Their lineups used to be great but as of late ... not so much. Not that i'm not a fan of a few of the shows but what i do like is old and tired and what i don't it numerous and borderline retarded.

It was in the gut.

O_o

He was one of my favorites...

I even had that movie w/Matt Salinger.

/cry

If they redo it, it better be good.

/sigh

yeah i have the entire death of superman comic series, have had it since it came out. my dad got it for me and its one of the very few collectables in comic books i have, Doomsday killed him.
But dont worry, he came back to life eventually.
They said on the news here that captain america is still alive in side story comic books, and because of that it can lead to him coming back for real some day.

Hey speaking of nowhere else to put this but I really wanna say something, how does everyone feel about the new weeknight lineup on [AS]? Robot Chicken is definately a billion times better than Moral Oral, but I'm pissed they took ATHF off. I think it was a pretty even trade though, so I'm keeping an open mind about it and looking forward to the many laughs Seth Green has oh so kindly graced me with over the years.

This gives me an idea....
