Ok, I might be retarded or something, but when did SE make chocobo prices change based on your current fame in the region (or something else)?

I rarely take the chocobos at the crags, but as I've recently started lvling RNG and COR, I decided to PL myself with a second character. So today, I tele holla myself to chocobo to Valkurm. Talk to the chocobo lady and...

first char: 1778 gil chocobo (which is very uncommon for Holla)
second char: 3175. Yes, you read that right.

At first, I thought it was a bug, so I talk to her again. Still the same difference between the two characters.

I tele to dem.

first char: 147
second char: 262

tele mea

first char: 1036
second char: 1837

What's with the almost double difference? I don't think its fame based, as I have max fame on both, and I don't think its based on the current region influence, as they were under different ones.

Last thing I can think of is character lvl, as one was 20 (I was going to solo in Valkurm, can make 7k/hr easily), and the second one was lvl 75. When did they change this? <.<;

Hmm, thats really interesting. The other night I ended up paying close to 4k for a chocobo in Holla (I was an idiot for not paying attention to the price before accepting -_-;)

I thought it was really unusual how the price had been hiked up, but then I thought it might be due to all the teleports that must of occured because Mr. Warp Taru in Al Zhabi had been kidnapped again. I"d be interested to find out if it is due to fame.

o.O; if people are stupid enough to tele to holla just to get to Jeuno, instead of paying 1 silver coin (100IS = 1k exp) for a direct tele, I'm losr for words...

H.Q taru > baby brother taru XD He can warp you to either Jeuno or your home nation for only a silver coin, lol

I always thought it was rank related, I remember helping people and teleing out to one of the three main, and ending up paying more for choco's then the lower ranked people.
Don't have documentation, but thats my guess. Testing it shouldn't be too hard though.

That's handy when you do have IS, however i'm all out. I've been upgrading my mog locker and haven't xped or done beseiged in weeks and i'm all out of IS ; ; (and i'm not paying 10k for one on the AH >_<)

Prices are influenced only by how many people are using one particular chocobo vendor. Since Holla is generally the most frequently used tele point, the chocos there are always the most expensive. Usually Mea is next and Dem are dirt cheap. At the moment, I believe there is a chocobo-related quest that involves La Thiene Plateau which is stirring up demand there even more.

rappa pay attention!

He had two characters at the same tele and one was charged more then the other.

lol

Its possible that there was a time lapse in between having the 2 different characters use the teleport chocobo though, which means that in between there could of been "x" amount of other people having used the chocobo service.

And i've never found Holla to be the most expensive, its always been Mea for me. Holla and Dem are usually 200-500 gil with the occasional rise to 1k during weekends. 4k was a bit insane, i'm going to start paying closer attention next time >_<

Yes, but unless they clicked at the exact same time then they demand from the first will have caused the price for the second to rise. And since like I said Holla is currently in extra demand, it rises faster.

He had two people there at the same time, didn't get the choco (since he asked again). This has happened to me on a few occasions, just never really thought anything of it. I do believe it could be linked to either rank/lvl/home nation (in regards to who owns region)

Rank is a factor, so is level, and I'm pretty sure fame is as well for at least the starter towns.

Stouter is correct...and I've noticed this for years.

so basically, lower level means you pay more?

Think that's rather unfair <.<; level shouldn't be a factor XD and does higher rank mean you have to pay more (like setting HP at the OP), or does it lower the cost?

Higher rank = pay more
Higher level = pay more
Higher fame = pay less

I don't think Rank is a factor, unless it's a factor in the equation that scales it up as people use them more and more.

Base price is always 50+(level x 1), doubled at Jeuno and Crags, so it doesn't affect base price at all.

I always thought level was the factor in the increased price as well, never really took rank in to consideration.

If that formula was correct, the difference in price would be 55. But its almost twice as much, and the two characters only spoke with the chocobo lady 2 sec between eachother.

Yes, but neither are base price, which the formula is for, and I stated it was for. Level 20 would've been 140, and level 75 250. I think you did your math wrong, as it would be 100+(20x2) and 100+(75x2) since it was a crag chocobo. Price difference is 110. You seem to have forgoten to double.

Both 1778 and 3175 are 12.7 times the base price. 147 and 262 are 1.05(1.048 for 262.) And 7.4(7.348,) for 1036/1837. So yeah, it was even, in terms of multipliers.

So if the rank is different, it's pretty safe to say rank has nothing to do with it, just level(affecting the base price.) Considering base prices are almost twice as much as the other, ofcourse you're going to see the effect of it being double.

Though since base price formula is the same regardless of rank, I personally, don't believe Rank has anything to do with with the frequency modifier.

I always wondered if your total gil had anything to do with it. With that theory in mind, do you store your bulk gil on your mule? I know that is a practice done by some crafters-- not sure how common it is to know whether or not it might apply to you also.
