I don't think this app had that ability. It would be great if this could only be accessed by those with a specific post count. You can set it so that it's only accessible by certain usergroups, but I doubt qcdn is set so that people change usergroups after a designated number of posts, and it would be a huge PITA for Miros to set that up.

I think Hitaru meant something along the lines of disabling it while in the WorkSafe theme. If so, that'd be awesome as well.

The site is back to normal load times for me again. Thanks for fixing it. It was almost unbearable to surf qcdn yesterday.

Oh well. Thanks for trying, Miros. Sorry for the trouble, everybody. Didn't think it'd be that bad. Sorry.

I appreciate the effort, Miros.

I say a flashbased chatbox would be ideal. Remove the cycles from the server and ideally, not use the DB at all.

I was surprised to learn that this was using the database at all. That many consecutive read/writes flashing back and forth cannot be good for it lol.

I concur in that either a flash-based, or a java-based one would be ideal.

What, parse a text document? That's so 1982.

A flash-based approach is still going to use the database. Just possibly less severely.

lol, if 1982 is faster and more stable than 2008, I'll take 1982.

why use the DB? No logging is needed. Use the server to host the chat server program and in that program use a FIFO text container. Even if logging is required, each comment can be a struct with a bool set to true or false. When it is popped off the queue, if true or false -- commit to DB. simple and far far far less intense.

I twiddles with the features a lot and it should be easier now. It will automatically delete all the messages every hour and the refresh time is much higher. If anyone experiences sever slow down, let me know.

Everything is smooth on my end, good work.

Im running fine, didn't even know it was back on until I saw this thread and checked. No slowdown on my end as of now.

Nice job, Miros.

Works fine for me too now. Yay!

Testing this weekend

I'm going to tweak with it again tonight and tomorrow to see how low I can get that refresh time down to. I will post when I have actually modified it, but just a heads up to you all.
