So I'm sure everyone is still messing with trying to raise chocobos since its brand new. Has anyone made any initial discoveries pertaining to this subject?

So far, I have walked my choco a few times, as well as cared for it which has completely depleted my choco's energy (I am assuming the energy is the choco's hp bar). I fed it a Sharug green, which apparantly helps with affection. However, I wanted to play with it some more, so i bought a chocolixer and fed that to it. Now the npc describes the chocolixer as completly restoring the choco's energy, yet it doesnt seem like it has. Anyone have any ideas? Anyone have anything to share about the subject at all?

This is how I understand it: there are two different things called "energy."

The HP Bar if for activities you can engage in, and then theres one for the Care Plans.

The HP Bar is to limit how much activity you can do with your chocobo per day, so you can't go on infinite walks to raise it's strength and endurance to mountainous levels, or other similiar treatment. Notice that simply watching over your chocobo drains this slightly, so you can't just infinitely boost affection either.

The other one is what actually affects the chocobo negatively, you have to give it time off to restore this one between care plans every once in a while by using the relax care plan, or it's counted as neglect, and the chocobo could run away.

Since the HP bar didn't refill, this is probably what the Chocoelixer actually affects.

Like I said, this is from my understanding. I could be totally wrong, but it makes sense.

hmm, that actually makes sense... which means my "Rest" care plan is totally useless atm <.<

think I'm going to change it once the day is over

This seems to make total sense to me; however regarding the choco's hp bar, mine still hasnt filled up; any ideas on timers? Is it a JP midnite type of thing?

Anyone else have ideas about choco raising? Some food descriptions are left vague, such as the parasite worm and the sandy carrots; I know it is entirely too soon for any actual results, but does anyone have any speculation as to what some of these things might do?

Hmm..I have been wondering about this too.
If you did set your Care Plan for Rest for 1 day, how much HP will be recovered?

I was afraid the poor bird might collapse if HP = 0 so I left him with some HP.
Now I'm just waiting for it to get hungry.

I set my rest for only one day, and it FULLY restored my chocobo's energy.

Hmm.. well i will set my bird to rest, but if this is the case, im not entirely sure what the point of a chocolixer is..

For the types of food, Paste seems to be the food SE wants us to use for chicks, greens for adult chocos, and grasses to help them recover from sickness. Worms are kind of vague, and I wouldn't be surprised if chocoelixirs are only useful for racing :P

how do you feed them? the only action i get is care plans, watch over and walk.

and where do i get food =p

Can buy. Either from NPC's all around the startign cities, or the bazaarers sitting outside the chocobo stables selling food.

Or the AH if you prefer that.

o.O the prices are rediculous. I could level cooking to 100 for cheaper... maybe I will.

I don't think 2k a piece is that expensive... lol

On another note, my chocobo is now friends with Air.

Mine is friends with Blood^^ Really though as long as my choco doesn't die, I don't care about all that other stuff. I mean some people sit in the stables all day long... What is the deal with that? Of course they probably have a dog on their keychain too.

I've seen people saying this sort of thing. How does your chocobo make friends?

while I took my chocobo for a walk, I met a NPC who took his chocobo for a walk, and our chocobos became friends.

The second time you meet him, you apparently get the story key item. And supposedly, there's a different NPC for each nation, meaning in order to collect all the stories and abilities, you'd have to raise a chocobo in each of the three nations.
