Cloverfield Monster reavealed in new trailer!

Saw it today and loved it. I'd like to see these guys handed the reins to an actual Godzilla flick.

Maybe people don't like to know EVERYTHING, it leaves people guessing and lets them use their imagination. I love not having the answers to everything, if you. It makes shit boring. But the majority of the population of lolEarth want to have all the bloody answers and they ruin shit so bad.

Knowing is always better than not knowing.

So was it manbearpig like I thought?

Was I the only one that got sick from the movie? My friend that i went with had to leave about 10 minutes from the end because of the stupid camera focus. If it wasn't for that, the movie would have been alot better for me.

Humor aside, this is a fairly accurate representation of the monster in shape and size, in case you haven't seen it.

Saw it on Saturday. There is a backstory, guys. Just because it isn't presented in the movie doesn't mean there wasn't one. I came out feeling satisfied, at the very least. If anything, the constant moving around and focusing made me leave my popcorn half empty (not half full, fuck you) because it felt like I'd throw up if I ate any more watching this movie.
I enjoyed the perspective of the movie. We're not following some chief scientists and the military taking on a giant monster, we're following five (then four, then three, then four, then etc...) people as they try to survive. I like it.
Spoiler:
!

I saw this last weekend with my gf. We both enjoyed it quite a bit. We both thought the camera swaying and focus was annoying, but so what. The movie delivered in the way it was supposed to.

The picture of the monsters looks different than what I thought it looked like. I basically thought it looks like some sort of giant bat without wings (which it still kind of does.)

Friend of mine said he thinks it would be better if it was just like Godzilla, and was told like a story book. I have to say I disagree. But thats me.

On another note, the way the movie was created and directed, it leaves areas for (unneeded but neat) sequels that will let the makers cash in on extra money.

Hasbro is creating a 14-inch Cloverfield Monster action figure and releasing it September 30th, 2008. You can only pre-order it, but that would basically end the debate of what the monster looks like.

Edit: It's $100. I'm curious but... not THAT curious. But it's also articulated and electronic, as well as limited edition, so probably really cool..but a hundred bucks, yikes.

Id like to get it, lol, but not willing to pay that much unless I had a better salary. Which I dont.

Agreed. I have a thing for action figures, but on a student budget and still waiting on an internship, I can't make any frivolous purchases. Boooo.

You guys dont like a film that has bad focus effects and shaky camera movement? Better not watch anything from the 60's or early 70's then before the Steadycam became popular to use in movie production many films were shaky and burred back then lol.

People have been spoiled!

Edit:

YTMND, although sometimes funny, is usually really stupid. Other times they may make decent points. This is one of them:

No loud noises or anything, just a recording from the end of the movie. Pointing back to the cool but unneeded sequel crap, lol

also:

On the red carpet for the premiere of CLOVERFIELD I chatted with writer Drew Goddard about the genesis of the film where he let us know that he certainly had more violent and bloody aspirations on his original draft. “The original draft was much more brutal. I wanted a hard R and we didn’t get a hard R, they read it and said this is way to brutal. I will say that I think we pushed the limits on a PG-13 rating we certainly shot a harder version than what is on the screen, we originally wanted it to be more bloody and disgusting.” He didn’t answer when asked if we will get to see that harder version when its released onto DVD. On the monster Goddard said, “It’s even better than I imagined as I was writing it!”

a couple pages back someone said they could not understand how the monster was able to

Spoiler:
knock the helicopter out of the air towards the end of the movie

with that combination of hind legs and fore limbs (specially) this monster has some formidable reach.

Thing is, it was able to
Spoiler:
jump into the air and BITE the helicopter

which I myself didn't understand, but it's definitely plausible if he
Spoiler:
grabbed a hold of two buildings and thrust himself skyward using his forearms
.

Aye?

I dunno.. A monster that size already is impossible, it would collapse under its own weight... But since it is in fact a movie, the truth can be stretched. That being said:

Spoiler:
It could have just pushed itself up with its forearms. Its about 25-30 stories tall in that pic, which is -about- 250-300 feet.

I made a little picture (very rough) to demonstrate an approximate reach height (with mouth) with both legs on the ground.

388 feet approximately, which is definitely between 30-40 stories compared to the apartment buildings there. Beths makes a good example, since I think she was on the 38th floor? I cant remember exactly, but it helps to put its reach into perspective

Maybe the monster slapped a building and the flying debris hit the helicopter. This seems like a more "realistic" what happened.
