Collaseum being built in Jeuno?

Some of the hate controlling devices would have to work in the "Party vs. Party" matches though. For example... having "Provoke" make the effected persons target locked onto you for 10 or 15 seconds... maybe just have hate work like that...

And have a lottery system like in FFVII where combatants might go into the battle without thier subs, or with random status effects.

I'm just throwing stuff out there.... :wink:

Would need limitations on jobs to fight each other. Maybe same job vs same job? Cuz Rdm/Nin > All <,<

1on1 doesn't matter if your RDM/NIN cuz the only reason RDM's have advantage in ballista is because of all the time they have to cast stuff and buff up.

1v1 starting at close quarters means first person to make the right move pretty much has the victory unless the 2nd guy makes a real good counter.

RDM/NIN is pretty worthless in ballista to be honest lol. Lessens our MP pool and gives us blink, woohah.. not like brds and other blm's or rdm/blm's aren't spamming horde lullabye and sleepga/II. Not to mention rdm/nin prolly get resisted to all hell than with /blm.

I say these rules for the fights:
1: Either 1 on 1 or 2 on 2 matches available at the fighter's choice
2: No sub-jobs in the 1 on 1 fights
3: No 2-hours available for use during the fight
4: All pre-buffs are lost upon entering arena
5: 10-15 second set-up period prior to fights to set buffs
6: Level caps set at 10 level intervals starting at 20
7: Entry fee of 1000 gil per entrant
8: Viewing fee of 100 gil per spectator wishing to watch the event
9: Random opponent mode if you do not have a willing enemy

Optional additions:
1: Prize of 3/4 entry fee given to winner (just a possibility, purely optional)
2: Events with prize items or gil amounts to vary by level cap
3: In place of set-up time, have a slot reel before the fight deciding buffs in the same way of FF7's arena. One reel for level 20, one added for each cap above that.
4: Only text viewed during matches is that related to battles such as damage. Also, those engaged in battle and those viewing the match may speak in a mode that all can hear.

Lol, boredom + overtiredness = me writing rules to an imaginary system

i always thought that somehow the nations should get mad at eachother because of the whole conquest deal....

So for this to be used in some sort of a cool conquest deal....you would go talk to your signet person...and sign up for "Conquest Force" or some clever name....and then you could attack anyone else from a different nation that was under conquest force....And for each person you take out, the points you get for that region are increased more than say just killing orcs or something...

Now this system would not be just straight up PVP....because you could not go to West Ron and kill newbs (unless they were stupid enough to get the flag up)

so if you dont want to PVP...dont get the flag.....if you do...get the flag...

OR!

Have beastmen as playable races! and then we can have beastmen VS non beastmen.

To be honest, without subjobs I can see Thief or Dragoon really tearing it up.

Thieves have multiple attacks, low delay, effective use of crossbows, and a helluva lot of evasion. Plus, after a sleep bolt lands it's Sneak Attack time! :twisted:

Dragoons would have it good as well. Attack, Wyvern Attack, Jump, Double Jump... well even a Ninja would be shadow-less unless he evades this junk. Not to mention the sheer joy of Super Jump to dodge killing blows. ^_^

Not that each job doesn't also have power, I'm just biased. 1-1 w/o subs would rock.

DRG = low ACC
NIN = high EVA

NIN > DRG

Dragoon aren't innaccurate. It's the polearms that are innaccurate, just like any other 2 handed weapon. A dragoon using a one handed weapon is one of the most accurate melee in the game.

Actually I think NIN has the highest chance of winning if there is no subjobs. No one can cast Utsusemi: Ni anymore unless your NIN and it goes up in like 1 second. So even in a close quarter fight just throw up Ni and an Icarus Wing then go up and WS your opponent and tank like normal.

DRG = low ACC
NIN = high EVA

Drg has to spend more gil to get the same acc+ but they can do it(scorpion harness, specs, etc). And they have acc up trait at 30 to put them ahead or cancel out any differences. If anything drk's the inaccurate one by nature of the job.

Ninja's evasion is quite good but it's worthless compared to a thief's.

The only reason I'd favor a ninja in a 1 on 1 matchup is because a polearm would have a hell off a time getting all a ninja's shadows down. Although wyvern+drg together might take shadows down reasonablely well actually though. Polearm+wyvern+polearm+wyvren+jumps= openings for attack. I'd probably have to give this match to a ninja though.

Drg could do a good number on most jobs though, especially with subs allowed, drg/whm.

Thief with dagger(s) would probably be one of the better counters to a ninja 1 on 1. We'd by far have the most chances to bring down shadows as fast as possible, and keep them down. I wouldn't be afraid of their attacks since my evasion would be far better. But I'd fear a ninja for their elemental tools, I consider them far more dangerous than shadows I can chop through, and we have the exact same hp too, it'd be cool to see.

I'd love to see some classic matchups though such as:

Drk vs Pld, pure opposites in figure and approach

Drk vs Drg, two highly compared jobs

Thf vs rdm, so I could shut them up, they'll be too busy despretely trying to keep their buffs on from my fast attacks and triple attacks to have time time to do anything offensive. And once their buffs come down, they're not going back up or will the get to finish any casting against me.

Ranger vs Monk, the best damage over time endgame from each, no casting to worry about. I think it'd be dead even in terms of their damage output but my gil is going on the monk since the huge huge huge hp pool gives off an incredible advantage.

Whitemage vs blackmage, who's going to last? Will the blm put away the whitemage early or could the WHM last long enough through buffs and cures to get to a empty mp situation on both sides, where whm would have a clear advantage? Besides this is pure good and evil :)

No one has even mentioned bst, I'd be frightened to take one on more than anything, it'd take any of us forever to solo a jug pet at high levels. 1hand axe is low delay too. Between a bst and its jug pet(s) it'd take FOREVER to kill if you did, they'll have more basic attack power between them, and between a bst and his pet, they could tear through buffs as well if not better than a thief with his dagger and triple attacks.

This is a great idea... I also want to see chocobo races and what not... It seems like there are very few "Just for the hell of it" activities. I wanna see more minigames and crap. The new fishing system is the step in the right direction and I hear clamming can be entertaining... If you like chilling in the boonies.

Actually Jag, it would be Polearm+Wyvern+Wyvern. Our wyvern attacks almost twice as fast as us. So the 2nd swing could possible come after all the Shadows are gone. Even if the 2nd swing hit a shadow, we could use 2 jump attacks right after along with a wyvern hit. That is some pretty mean damage right there.

Drk vs. Drg would be pretty fun actually, but I think Drg would still win. Although a Drk can stun, it won't work on a Jump attack because it's pretty much immediate. I think it would all come down to being able to keep track of how much TP your opponent gets. If a Drg can keep track of that, he can pretty much just unlock target and kite the Drk around while the wyvern still attacks. That way the Drk couldn't get his TP attack off.

I'm just looking at the notoriety factor you get, if the Collesseum could keep track of the top 100 best winning records. Imagine being the #1 person? People would be out to get you in the Collesseum battles, but I bet this guy would have no problems getting a party invite! :wink:

PLD vs. DRK...

CHASYM! Let's duke it out in a level 50 capped Ballista!!! I CHALLENGE YOU!!!

Only problem is, if you have played uncapped Ballista, a BLM can 1 shot kill with a Level III spell any unbuffed mage =)

And WHM has a very small chance of ever interrupting a BLM's spell casting.

The Bst is a VERY good point. As far as the Drg goes, if the rule is implemented where 2hrs are disallowed......

Here's ideas:

There's two types of match setups, arranged and random. Random's easiest to explain, so I'll do that first: basically, you go up to the NPC that runs this and sign up for a certain level cap (cap can only be chosen from intervals of 10; so 10, 20, 30, etc), and an opponent is chosen at random from all the people looking for a fight for that level cap (yes, this does work sort of like Warcraft 3's ladder). You also have a ranking based on your win/loss record that others can view. This ranking only applies to random fights, however; arranged fights don't give ranking. SE could also add a way for team vs team random fights; you sign up with a group of people and are put in a random fight against another equal size team. Rules are simple: no items are allowed (including food and charged items), and neither are 2hours (although an exception might be made for DRGs, SE would have to balance that). All buffs would be dispelled before entering. There could also be an option to allow/disallow subjobs.

Arranged fights are a bit different. You pick the names of the competitors, pick what level they are, etc (you can pick the level, not just pick from multiples of 10, so you could have a fight capped at 42, for example). You can also pick different caps for different people (so you can have a 42 RDM fight a 46 WAR). You also get to set teams, and have unbalanced teams (so you can see if a party of 6 level 65's can kill a lone 75 RDM). You can also pick if a person is allowed to have a sub. Items, 2hours, and so on are chosen individually as well (so you could have it possible for one person to use items while another person can't).

There's also an entry fee for the competitors, and a smaller fee that spectators can pay to watch. The winner gets his entry fee refunded, and gets 50% of the money the spectators paid, plus 50% of what all his opponents paid.

SMN can eat RDM/NIN alive. A RDM is nothing without their buffs in ballista, and one well placed AoE Dispel from fenrir and the beating begins.

Lethe Water, especially +1, is the answer to RDM/NIN. For those not "in the know" when it comes to Ballista, Lethe Water is a item usable on other players to remove 2 enhancement effects. +1 removes 3.

I like the idea that if you draw in a huge crowd you could get more gil. That would make it very appealing... :P

/em starts writing up a petetion to SE for the implementation of the Colleseum...
