I just wanted to gauge interest in this system. Straight from vbulletin.org!

The Comprehensive Ignore System allows your users to ignore more than just a users text in a post.

First, users can ignore entire threads. These threads will then not show up in searches, forumdisplay, and "new posts".

Second, if a user puts someone on their ignored list, they stay ignored, meaning their threads will not show up in forum displays, searches, or "new posts".

Users can ignore threads with certain tags.

Users can select to ignore an entire forum, so that they no longer see it, nor do search results that are located in those forums show to the user.

Complete user group control for each of these features.

Admin can also clear a users ignores when editing a user.

Users can review and remove ignores from their UserCP.

Discuss if needed please. :)

Great addition, 100%.

I think it sounds a lot better than I think it would really be. The majority of users who have problems with other users have Last Word Disease and can't put someone on ignore; they just have to know what that person is saying because they just have to retort. There may be a few who would get use out of it, and if it isn't too much work, it'd probably be worth it for those few, though.

Thats called 'your ears are burning' lol

Good upgrade though, even if it only helps a few people its worthwhile.

I like it Miros ^^

This is a good idea. That way don't have people beating the same old drum.

Does it actually remove the posts from thread, like say I ignore kelyon and he posts in the "bored at work" thread, I'll still see the bored at work thread with everyone's posts BUT his? Or does it just not notify me if he posts in it in the "New Posts" section?

Sounds like it will take it out completely!

"Let me ask you something, how do you feel about frilly toothpicks?

I'M FOR EM!"

and this.

I'm up for this, although I'm not the person to ignore someone quick it might save some headaches from people that have been at their throats in several forums.
(Only if they are actually going to use it.)

You've been able to ignore Miros for awhile now. This will just further that slap in that face that he thinks is, oh so naughty.

Sure, why not.

Well, considering that the vote after only a day is 37-1 in favor of the proposed system, and although upsets have happened in the past and 13 days still are left in the poll, I don't know if much is left to say, aside to see a rebuttal from (not necessarily the single person who voted against) someone who thinks it would be a bad idea.

Personally, I don't see any way such a system could be abused.

Let me get this straight, though.

- Pat has Mike ignored through this system
- As such, Pat will not be able to see Mike's posts.
- Pat will also not be able to see Mike's user profile?

Would Mike, if they had not reciprocated and also ignored Pat, be able to make reputation for/against, send visitor messages to, or Privately message Pat? It seems that with that system, that capability should be lost to Peter likewise, even though Mike can still see Pat's posts and user profile.

Your Persons are going to make my head explode.

It is a good question, though. I think that if you put someone on ignore, you should not be able to rep them, PM them, VM them, etc. I don't think that it should work in reverse. You shouldn't be able to, well, gain immunity from someone by putting them on ignore. You may deserve those rate downs. This goes back to the forced ignore, though. I do think that Admins should have the power to grant that immunity though.
