Connected?

I don't know. I set my FFXI to start updating at about 4:30 this afternoon and was just getting into the downloading stage when I had to leave for work. I don't know if it finished or not. I hope it did so it will be ready when I get back after work.

Mine starts to download, gets about to the halfway mark, then brings up the Error code 1160. So yeah, gotta start all over again. Screw this, I'm going out on a Wednesday night instead. I'd rather be a townie then sit here waiting for this damned thing all night. :evil:

Working now... :roll: only took 5 tries per machine.
 
Mine finally connected i got a hour on it...
 
Just evaded the 1160 error, and it's checking for updates now!!!

Edit: Should have kept my mouth shut. I didn't even get past version info this time.

SE sucks, they need to either

a) setup a que system, so that network isn't overloaded, I've downloaded like 50% of the patch at least 4 times before getting time out'd. That's right 200% total, I could of downloaded TWO of them, but have nothing

or

b) Make the files installable by download off some website, aka: mirror-able, and tons of sites that can host it.

And also some way to continue, if my download stops at 50% I shouldn't have to start all over again ._.
 
I came back from dinner with a friend (Halifirien) to find it had kicked me off with 251 files left to download. I have 150 to go at the moment. I always hate this shit.
 
So far :

Signed on POL, went to check version, started checking, 12% and "network errors". Next time it made it to 65% and again network errors. Third time it couldn't even pick up to see if there was a newer version. Tried 30 min later and it worked..........................for a bit. Got to 12 min left til I was done updating and another network error. 6 more tries after that gave me network errors before it could even check files. Now I'm getting past it as if there were no update but when I go to enter the server, it says "game version incompatible with server."

YAY! -_-

Actually, if you've actually started downloading the files and get booted midway, you pick up at whatever file you left off at - so if you downloaded 500 files and then get booted, you don't have to re-download those 500 files again.

Thing is, the "total downloaded" meter shows what percentage you've downloaded out of all the files you have left to download. So if you downloaded 500/1500 files and then get booted, when you reconnect you're at 0% again as you have downloaded 0 of 1000 files, not 500 of 1500.
 
it's the checking of the files is what makes him mad I believe.

i come back 3 hrs after server up and i cant get the update yet. sigh. stupid stupid error.
