rofl, okay, finally got the updating to work. Last checked, I was at 98%...check again a bit later and I've got that blasted POL 1161 code. Furious, reconnect...POL 1160...reconnect again, and I'm installing now!!!

After 21 hours of failure, the most recent being at the 18 hour mark...In your face, space coyote! I'm done!!!

For those of you wondering what the above link is. It is a .zip file created by Gunderschmidt late last night/early morning. It contains MOST of the updated files. You simple unzip it into your FF directory.

Lanien was kind enough to host it for those of us who still haven't been able to get the patch going.

Please note that this .zip files has varying results. As some people have reported. However, it is a consensus that the number of overall files they had to download after they used the above zip file were in the double digits. A drastic cutback on the original 800+ files we had to download.

Again, use at your own risk. I, myself, have yet to try it out. But as this update drags further and further, this option is steadily looking more and more convient.

Perhaps someone who has used the above zip file can give a more detailed description as to what you can expect.

Edit: I for one can vouche for this .zip file. Just recently applied it after installing WinRAR. Went from 700 files last night to 5 files. Thanks goes to Gunderschmidt for creating the zip, Tansut for sharing his ROM files, and Lanien for hosting it. /cheer

This is an update information regarding FINAL FANTASY XI login and version update difficulties due to server congestion after the Apr. 20, 2005 FINAL FANTASY version update.

works, all of the .DAT files are in it, but the .bgw and .spw files still need to be downloaded.
 
The scary thing about my recent "work-induced hiatus" from the game is I didn't even know there was un update until Neyla told me about it over dinner yesterday. I set it to download as I was heading out for work this afternoon. With any luck, it'll be finished when I get home.

Then maybe I'll get to play again at some point in the next few days. My schedule goes back to normal after this week is over. I've missed you guys.
