Bam, I really need to upgrade my PSP.

You are going to be able to copy your Blu-ray titles onto the PSP disc, in a lower resolution of course.

I don't know about you guys, but this is a pretty big deal for me. Especially considering the PSP slim can then output those movies onto a TV...

No idea if we'll be able to do it with DVDs as well or not.

Not a bad idea, although I've been doing that for about two years with a simple MP4 conversion program.

As if if people with UMD movies didn't have enough reason to be sad.
Cool stuff.

Ya, it's more a convenience issue than anything. In theory the PS3 does exactly what PS3Converter9 does just allowing you to do it with your Blu-rays too, and being designed with the cell in mind probably does it a bit faster.

UMDs were a huge mistake but they're not bad if you can find movies you like on them for really cheap, especially now that you can output them onto a TV with the new PSP. Problem is that DVD is portable enough to just get a portable dvd player... then you've got your whole DVD collection instead of a 2nd unneeded format.

I only own 4-5 movies on UMD. I stopped buying them when I realized it was a lot easier to just convert them myself... although most of those movies end up on my iPod.

I'll be curious to know how long it takes for the PS3 to transfer the movie to the PSP and what the filesize is going to be like.

My 4gb memory card wants to know this too.
