Dia vs Dia II.. I would imagine the DoT is enhanced in II but is the defense down the same or is Dia 5% while DiaII is 10%? (I assume 5% as Dia III is 15%)

Banish vs Banish II/III.. same as above, does the undead defense down length increase as the spell level does? I'd test this but it is very difficult to get accurate info since the def down is mainly only used for WS, but would be nice to know entirely.

Relic weapons.. I cheked Allaand according to the guide it would cost (lol) 36M to fully upgrade Gkt. It, however, does not show the HUGE goblin fees for the last two upgrades. I was curious if anyone had a COMPLETE guide on relics or at least Gkt.

and now most important.. NPC
I love my NPC, she is my buddy and we explore all over together.. but we have run out of quests /cry so now it's just a matter of time and capping her relationship and going from 58-65.

I level her with a pld friend, and I am whm, so our primary goal is to find undead to fight. (Dia+Banish+Savage Blade->Hexa Strike = 2.5k dmg) It's more fun I think.. but I explored The Eldieme Necropolis and the Spriggan there are only EP to me, and I'm really trying to find DC. I even went to Gustav (level 65-68 mobs so even Robbers were okay) and while this would carry my NPC to 60 (+6 level difference when exping required) I would like something higher. I know me being whm hurts duoing (no refresh) but every second Undead dies in under 20 seconds so it makes up for it.
I saw the T+ ones (Doom Warlock) and know the VT ones in KRT.. that's too high >< I'm just looking for Undead up to level 71-73ish.

Can anyone offer a suggestion on where to go at 75whm+75pld and fight DC undead that aren't horribly violent?(really trying to avoid mage types)

Weapon? Yes it is ~.^ Horn is an instrument, while weapons class it's no real weapon as a brd smacking someone with it would not prove too useful ;p

Everyone needs a goal.. I do not like HNM so I will not camp them, I will make gil and eventually buy lotting rights (unlessRMT claim of course, I will never buy off RMT -.-) and so this is my end goal. Before I quit, I will hold either the R4 or Amana so expect to be stuck with me a while. :P

Once upon a time, I probably could have answered your question Re: Dia II, but I've been a long time from the game and only vaguely remember most of those details, having only just today gotten back into replacing my old 30-something RDM.

That said, my gut feeling from such half-remembered details is that Dia II has a bigger debuff to some degree than Dia does, but I could be mis-remembering. All i can say for sure at this point is last I knew, there was *zero* question in any RDM's mind about upgrading to Dia II. It was really a no-brainer, must-have.

No idea if that's still true, though. And if you're a WHM, I suppose it's possibly not quite as big a priority as the RDMs would label it with.

A Word of Warning

This entry may not make completely clear the fact that Relic Weapons are very time-, money-, and labor-intensive items to upgrade. Many individuals fail to realize the actual scope of the quest and begin it without having a real means of finishing it, usually giving up their upgrade after either the first or second upgrade. There are individuals who start their own Dynamis Linkshells - even sponsor their own runs, spending millions of gil on their own Timeless Hourglasses - for the sole purpose of obtaining Ancient Currency, Attestations and Fragments. Single-unit Currency is bazaared for tens of thousands of gil on many servers; 100-unit Currency sells in the millions, and 10,000-unit Currency is almost never sold. Of the few final-stage Relic Weapon owners in Final Fantasy XI who have come forward with their experiences, it's been learned that many have taken an Earth year or more to complete them.

Should you, the reader, decide to take on the task of completing a Relic Weapon, please be aware that this type of commitment may very well be neccesary. You should seriously consider not performing any upgrades before you have the coins and attestation to upgrade all the way to Stage 4; that way if you give up you have the coins instead of a useless Stage 2-3 weapon.

Relic Knuckles --> Spharai Example
To give an example of the effort required here, lets make the following quite realistic assumptions: In one Dynamis run you gain about 100 single currency pieces. Mostly there are less, but the occasional 100 piece evens that out. You can go two times per week to a dynamis run.

Stage 1 > 2: 100 Byne Bill x 4

Stage 2 > 3: M. Silverpiece x 14

Stage 3 > 4: L. Jadeshell x 61

Stage 4 > 5: 10,000 Byne Bill x 1
= 17,900 single-unit Ancient Currency An average of 179 Dynamis runs
Approximately 537,000,000 - 716,000,000 gil Could take nearly 2 years

This sums up to 17,900 pieces of single-unit ancient currency, or an average of 179 Dynamis runs on the above assumtion. This again means to do 2 dynamis runs every week for 90 weeks, which would mean nearly two years if you were to obtain your currency simply by sponsoring your own Dynamis runs. Of course, upgraders typically buy Ancient Currency where they can (although it's not so abundant as most groups in Dynamis are collecting for their own sponsors Relic upgrades), and if the price of 100-unit pieces is approximately 3-4 million a piece, you're looking at a total of 537,000,000 - 716,000,000 gil worth of Ancient Currency. Not to mention the prices of any of the other items that are needed in the various stages of upgrades.

On top of all this is the requirement of a few Rare/Ex items that can only be obtained in Dynamis: Beaucedine and Dynamis: Xarcabard. These aren't items that drop off any mob while you're fighting your way to a win - you will need to go out of your way with your Dynamis group to obtain these items. And the fights aren't necessarily easy either.

So basically, this is a very long, very expensive process. Square-Enix has even said that Relic Weapons are not meant to be for everyone - they're only meant for a handful of people who have the means and resources to go about the upgrades. So if you would like to get a fully upgraded weapon, now have an idea of what you're in for!

Just so you know.

Here you go: http://ffxi.somepage.com/mobdb/list.php?zone=181

Checked somepages and looked under skeleton family and these looked like they were around 71-73 range for undead. You might find a fair amount out here, just watched out for Lamias and possibly some imps.

Can't do Aht Urhgan cause SE is .... (insert rude comments here) and neglected fellowship.. so not only can I not call them in Sky, but ToAU either.. I'm not sure but I'd bet I can't call them in CoP area's either (Lufaise etc) :/

Thanks to all the replies and Kisa, I'm a 67 Rdm, so of course for exping I used Dia II ^^; I just don't know if it's simply a DoT+ or a Def Down+ from Dia. I'm mostly asking for when I solo.. DoT means nothing as the mobs literally die as soon as I have TP(<3 Hexa!) I just want the highest WS possible.. I figure Dia + Banish + Hexa = ouch.. so I was curious as to if Dia II was worth the MP when soloing.

And Neo, I know it takes forever+1 XD But hey, some people make the goal for like.. Maat's Cap.. mine's just as ridiculously hard(well.. harder) but requires money, not lfp time XD I have patience... I just wanted the info now so I know what to expect. Thanks^^

Banish does not lower undead defense per se. It removes an undead monster's natural resistance to a particular weapon type for a short period of time. Eg - Ghosts are strong against most weapon types (Blunt, Piercing, Slashing), Casting Banish on them would make it so that they take 'normal' damage from weapons (ie. the damage they would take if they didn't have this natural resistance).

This link should explain it better: http://wiki.ffxiclopedia.org/Damage_Types
Read the asterisk on the bottom of the chart. Casting banish on a skeleton and hitting them with a club will do nothing, as they do not have a reduced damage modifier for blunt weapons.

NPc do work in COP areas at least.

Like the promyvions, the fellowship NPCs get their very own quests in there.

Ahhhh. Well, all i can really say there, is that you've probably got a lot better idea what things do these days than I do... And soloing's not my area of expertise since It was pretty much considered a Death Sentence without BST for pretty much anyone, back when we were playing last. ;)

Looking forward to getting back in the swing, with some of the changes that've gone in since.

Yeah, Cop areas work. I used to lvl my npc all the time in Lufaise meadows back when it was around lvl 40 or so when I first finished promys and got access to that area.

I was farming Tavnazian liver for one of the quests off the sheep, lol.

Oh yeah, I wasn't thinking about NPC lvlling when I posted that, I was just thinking of a place with undead in the lvl range you were asking about. Yeah, it really sucks you can't call out NPCs in the new area yet, and SE really need to release more missions for them.

Oh, here you go, this may be kind of close, but there's undead here in Attowa Chasm: http://ffxi.somepage.com/mobdb/list.php?zone=143
At least you can call out NPCs there.

Only place I can think of with DC@75 Skeletons is Attowha Chasm (Tomb Mage/Warrior and Corse, though I'd obviously avoid the latter). Only problem with this is that the area where Tomb mobs pop is also rather close to where Cave Antlion (VT@75) can ambush you at, which in a duo would almost definitely be a wipe if you aggroed once since their ambush attack can do up to 500, which would more or less agro all the undead in the general area, etc etc.

That being said, if you really wanna go with DC Skels, that's the best I can think of...

Tunnels in Uleguerand should have DC Skeletons. They go up to the low 70s.

I find it extremely retarded that sites leave Malediction out of the Drauger move list, as if it didn't exist outside of Besieged.
