The new ignore feature wouldn't work for people who are using the rep system to harass people. The ignore system works for people who WANT to ignore other users, not people who deliberately stalk certain users and try to make their browsing experience as miserable as possible via inappropriate comments left using rate downs. These type of users are seeking out these members and sure as hell wouldn't put them on ignore.

There's lots of good ideas here, just too bad the VB isn't more customizable. It'd be nice to see a certain post count before users can be rated up/down so we don't end up alienating new browsers like Miros mentioned in the first post.

I don't get it. Say someone stalks someones post. The stalkee, can still ignore the stalker. Wheres the problem?

How about people just learn to deal with a fucking red dot and a sentence of stupidity. As many of you people that think people are red dotting you is harrassment, chances are you really deserve the thing.

In most cases it not people, it is A person or A group of persons. As for banning those that miss use it that fine to, but doubt that is possible.

I really don't understand why you'd go to such great lengths to get the ignore feature working so smoothly over problematic posters that everyone can see, and then turn around and say "kay guys, we're doing the exact opposite with something that's even less of a problem".

This is in addition to the fact that people have been using the visitor messages to post public flames, which, when I asked about it, I got the vibe that it was a-ok because the messages could be deleted by the user.

This whole thing just seems ridiculous.

Difference is I can't delete the miss use of rep that you have given to me like the visitor center. Also this a larger problem then ignoring people. By miss use I mean the ones that you would go back 6 months find random post by me and rate me down.

Take a look at the context, and try to pick whether the person rated you red for reason one or two. If it is reason one, go fuck yourself. You brought it upon yourself. If it is reason two, grow a fucking pair and say "Oh well, guess he is still a jackass" and go about your day.

Everything with you people needs to turn into some fucking war, when all it takes is a simple click of the backbutton to alleviate any sort of injury to your oh so precious QCDN reputation. You say us people with higher reputation are just hiding behind our Epeens. Well ya know what? I'd rather hide behind my epeen then be a pussy about it.

Honestly, that's the best idea I've heard in this entire thread. This would eliminate any of the normal "stfu or grow a thick skin" comments, or at least reserve those to the Flameboard and not result in a triple red-dotting of a new poster.

As much as I like ya Sabs, and as much as I hate Jyak, this is what the new ignore feature was added for. If we let one person ruin something that the majority gets a kick out of using, then we fucking lost the war and might as well pack our shit up now. A simple click of the button now will get rid of that person's rate downs, and never need to be seen again.

I would agree with you if it wasn't for the ignore system. The fact that we need to implement two recovery systems though is ridiculous and unncessary.

Sorry my whole post wasn't directed to you, I just quoted you and should've been more clear about it my fault. But I do here from various people that the rep system isn't to be taken seriously..but the point is is that people do.

I'd say get rid of the rep system, but I can't be demanding. Shit like that should be limited to PM's, which anyone can ignore.

Whew, I'm glad I brought this up before installing it. I didn't realize there would be so much humbuggery regarding this. I do see your points though and I will be online most likely tomorrow more then tonight since I just found out we're doing a grill out discussing the issue and trying to figure out a solid way to make this whole thing work well. I enjoy feedback people so please keep bringing it (in the non flamebaiting way of course).

Because harm is still done in the rate system. The comment only half the problem, the effect to your points is also harassment if it is not warranted by the posts they choose to rate down.

That i'm not sure about. But any rate ups/downs that might be there, you won't see them. Far as you're concerned they don't exist.

Nope they still rate you up and down, you just can't see there comment but you know they did due to point ajustment.

Tyrath is right to an extent. It removes the rate up/down from being seen, but it still affects your "pointage". So while you might notice your points going up and down, you won't be able to see the comment or even the persons name on your reputation screen. It would all disappear from sight.

just because it you can't see it does not mean it not there. The problem should not be ignored should be corrected.


What could happen is wipe all current rep and comment and start from scratch, then you couls make the rep system public.
