Ok so i know we have some WoW players out there and contrary to popular belief i'm not of the opinion that one game or community is better than another in a literal sense. For me the lines are pretty well clear but that's not what this is about.

Look i'm about to go on a rant about WoW-folk! Put on your helmets kids.

I'd like to type for a moment about things that raise my ire on WoW and i also found somewhat irksome on FFXI but less so on that playground.

I get asked alot of stupid questions. Questions which are easily answered by simply reading the goddamn quest log. This kills me.

'Where do i start the quests for kharazan?' Look it the fuck up, dumbass. If you're not willing to go that far at least take some goddamn initiative and go the fuck down to kharazan, you might luck the fuck out.

'Where is x for quest x?' I don't know .. maybe where it clearly fucking tells you in the goddamn quest description? Naw, too easy. Read goddamnit!

'What spec should i go and how should i get there?' This one's great as it always comes from some random douche i interact with occasionally during a raid or instance. Not that the moron who's asking me this is in the party. No, they've got their thumbs in their ass in IF or shattrath or some shit. Yea, i've got time to instruct you on the basest things in the game while i'm babysitting a group making sure they don't noob me to death. Thanks.

'How do i get to x?' Maps, use them. 'I don't have that cleared on my map.' Addons use them. 'I don't know how addons work.' Guides, use them. 'Where do i find guides?' Mebbe a mod/addon site? 'Where would i find one of those?' Google, ever fucking hear of it? 'No i have you, right? ... hey where you going?'

'Which is better item-x or item-y?' Wait .. you mean to tell me you made it this far without the neccessary brain function to contrast and compare gear for your class and spec and expect me to know the answer to this question even tho i obviously don't know wtf your up to on that toon? Brilliant.

That about covers stupid shit questions. I'm sure there's more but it drains my intelligence to think of more.

Dungeons/instances.

Strategies, ever hear of them? Logic dictates that if you have to run a bunch of instances to get a key for another instance you might want to have better gear then the greens/blues you've acquired from world questing for the most part. If you've got shit gear and no strategies jesus fuck all christ why the hell are you dragging me to the starting big fuck-all raid in the series of big fuck all raid content?

I can't very well throw you a heal or shackle that undead while my face is being pounded in. Lrn2CC and we'll talk.

This rant comes in no small part due to my guild's first kharazan attempt last night which was laughable at best due to multiple failures drawing between lacks of gear, strategy, teamwork, and above all commitment to not wasting anyone's fucking time.

I'm not interested in bullshit anti-WoW responses, this isn't an XI onry board anymore the FB included. I asked to make sure before getting on the rag. People are dumb all over the internet especially in large groups. We all know this. If you've got an experience that relates feel free to vent, otherwise let this thread be what it is .. a rage dump because i'm still on the fence about leaving my guild for a more professional guild full of complete assholes as you usually have a choice in WoW between functional/full of douchebags and high-maintenance but friendly.

You're just experiencing the norm. I don't know if it's stupidity you should attribute to it, or just laziness.

Though my main issue with WoW was the SEPS (Swinging E-Peen Syndrome) that every endgame player was completely overcome by. It's hardly as present on FFXI I have to say, as it is on WoW. Most who were capped level players that had any epics whatsoever thought they were god. Any kind of argument they get into was pointless, cause both sides would just *KNOW* they're right. If one guild did better than another guild, everyone hated them, rather than cheering them on or whatever (either this or they sucked up to them horribly). Even some friends who went over to the game before I decided to cave and play it became complete fuckwads, and I no longer felt comfortable talking to them anymore.

One player were far to the south of the place he were supposed to go to, and asked me where to go. Note that the quest were obtained at X.

How the fuck does someone read NE and think you're supposed to go S?

Coming from FFXI polarizes you to the ease of other games, IMO. Had i not played XI for 2-3 years i'd be somewhat less competent than i am now but ease and pace are two different things entirely. I' not going to get involved in the mdick match between games. I will say, as i've told more then a few people via PM, if you came here from XI be prepared to rule the game. Not because XI is difficult, because XI all but requires you to learn how to scour resources for knowledge and retain said knowledge. In short XI forces you to learn how not to be a clueless noob. There are little to no XI players who couldn't point you in the right direction for information if that's what you need.

Conversely WoW's version of pandoring to 'casual players' ammounts to clearly defined parameters inside the game which do not require you to reach too far outside yourself for information unless you go in search of it of your own volition. To be blunt about it you decide how difficult the game is going to be based on what you know and how you use it. Unlike XI having knowledge in WoW is a double edged sword .. the more you know the faster you progress the harder the stuff is you get involved in. The less you know the less likely you are to do anything but annoy people like me.

I don't find it easy, perse, i do find it much more intuitive then other games i've played XI included. Surely to god i'd find it much easier if i surrounded myself with like minded individuals which seems to be my problem as of late.

Ever put more in to a guild/LS then you'll ever manage to get out without being leader or at least staff just because you figured if they do good you do good? Yea.. Not so much in my experience thusfar both times around with the GM bit and just being a lackey for a mediocre guild now.

As i mentioned in another post it seems many guilds quietly succumbed to the xpack. My guild is going about being a little less quiet about it in my eyes, which is somewhat of a bummer.

As far as endgame mentality stuff goes circa before i quit the atmosphere around XI end-game was a dramafest supreme with leet sawce. I can't speak to it now. From my experiences on WoW the actual top endgame guidls don't do or say shit outside their own for the most part. Not to say they don't shit talk in guild chat about other guilds, i'm guilty of that myself, but the public shitfest is spared for the most part. Of course this could just be because i've socially restricted myself on MMOs after XI, it could be because i picked a decent server, it could be because i don't bother with the official forums, or it could be that i'm not even leet enough to claw my way up to the shit storm.

I've only been playing for around over a year or so. But because i don't sweat the small shit, have a handy ignore function, and haven't pugged for months, as well as only being in a mediocre at best endgame guild i suppose i have a slight shade of rose on my glasses.
