I drew this up for the non WoW-ers here. It's exactally what Mokk has been talking about. Here's the gist of the quest:
Outside of town, across the road, are 3 Alliance cannons. Destroy them, and return to me.
Black = Thrallmar
Red = Giant Horde cannons
Brown = Road
Blue = Giant Alliance cannons
There were those of us who got the new expansion at midnight on release day, followed by the trickle of people who got it at normal business hours, then the absolute explosion of the weekend. From the very first person who installed the expansion during normal hours to more than a month later, your screen was absolutley packed with a non-stop stream of "HAY WHERE IZ T3H ALLIANCE CANNUNZ?!?!" The best part, you can clearly see the fucking things from Thrallmar (the Horde base)
Also, for those who have never played WoW, quests are presented in two forms, one for the loreseeker, the other for the fast get to 70 tonight guy. It's all presented on the same fucking pop-up screen, and would read something like:
Random Orc Guard: <Player> we have managed to secure a foothold in this desolate area, unfortunatley so too has the Alliance. We must maintain superority in this region <Player>. Outside Thrallmar, to the south, you can see the primary artillery batteries of the Alliance. Go there, across the great road, and destroy them. Return to me when you have struck this mighty blow for the Horde.
Quest: Random Orc Guard wants you to travel south of Thrallmar, across the road, and destroy the Alliance cannons.
Reward: You will receive ???
It's presented in two fucking ways, both with more than adequate descriptions of what to do, and how to get there. I honestly think 90% of the player populace on my server asked where these cannons were. Ever seen Clerks, where the chick says "So how much is this thing anyway?" with the big 99 cent sign behind her? Yup, imagine that happening 7,000 times. I bet if I went there right now, there would still be people asking.
