Just a very basic thought process here in terms of in game prices.
There's no point hoarding gil. Prices raise naturally, gil value lowers naturally. Even if you don't need PCC, the fact remains you don't need 15 million gil either.
The reason the price rises is because more people want it than can get. So everyone who wants it, makes gil to try and buy it, whoever wants it the most will make the most gil.
Now, it's true that buying gil will raise prices, but not dramatically The demand raises the price, the gil buying increases the amount of potential buyers.
For example.
Sam camps VE for 5 weeks, earns 10 mill.
Joe can't / doesn't want to earn gil, but he really wants the PCC. He buys 12 mill.
Seller tries to gauge how much he can get. If price is rising he'll put it up for the next increment. Maybe gil buyer will at most raise it 100k or 200k, but the thing he does more is take out a supply when he wouldn't have normally been able to afford one.
So really, gil buying doesn't affect the market more than hardcore farming.
Now, I'm not defending it, there are many other reasons not to buy gil, but, it's not the cause of the rising prices. The cause of rising prices is more demand > supply. There's no outlet for increase demand, the NM will pop at the same rate regardless of how much gil is earned off of it. Gil buying is more of a tool of which a flawed economy grinds against.
On a side note, how the hell do you know who buys gil or not? Do you know what everyone is doing every moment of their day? Do you know everyone's mules? Do you know how many accounts different people have? I myself have 2, and a good chunk of my gil is from the second account. So quit assuming people, it's impossible to know, unless you actually know the person yourself.
