Damn, we were wrong about Warrior...

I dont pay attention in FFXI anymore, my last XP party i was playing madden on the ps2...

It exists for the blind and happens to introduce alot of hate which pld find useful.

What you said.

No, it's pretty much exclusively a hate tool. The flash is a bonus, but it's so short lived that you might dodge one attack round. It's purely a hate tool, not a strong blind with a bunch of hate tagged on.

What Baj said.

I'd say that you guys are arguing pretty different things. I said flash was a hate spell that should almost be only used for such, where you said it was for a 5 second decently potent blind.

*He* said flash was a hate spell that should almost be only used for such, where you said it was for a 5 second decently potent blind.

Fixed. I should have re-phrased my thing about whm too, but i didn't think anyone would actually use the blind on flash, aside from spesfic situations.

Saying flash is only a hate tool is pretty wrong, no matter how you try to cut it. Now it's like you're saying "flash is only a hate tool, but it's not in this, this, and this situation... as well as probably several other situations." I know good and well that I used to like it when a White Mage would cast Flash sometime between my two casts as a Paladin back when I actually leveled the job. And I'd really like it if a White Mage would cast Flash when I happen to have a lot of hate and I do not have Utsu: Ni available. But I suppose that would require the White Mage to actually pay attention.

A good whm would do that, but it's usually pretty rare to actually need to cast flash to help out a ninja on their ichi casting. It's a hate tool with very, very, very few situational uses outside of being a hate tool. So few real uses that you can't reasonably consider that it's primary purpose is the blind effect.

Flash is a terrible spell. Some dipshit always has a macro of "Dumbasspld shows mob her boobs!" or even worse, they make an emote macro of it. Tits or GTFO is a nice rule, but /p and /em macros are still retarded.

Oh Calais, you and your hidden messages!

Amazing, Kage! You were the only one to figure it out! Let's be friends :3

I still had the greatest flash macro ever. There was a /p part to it like everyone else had, but I took it one step further. My macro unequipped my body armor, waited a second then put the armor back on; so I would literally flash them.

Flash is swell for mobs that use Hundred Fists as well, like dynamis mnks for example, though ideally your stunners are paying attention (which again is why I say it's good since people never pay attention to anything in this game).

Don't DRKs have Stun too?

Really though, couldn't agree with you more.

I used to have a Flash macro like that, long ago.

/em shows <t> a picture of Cythe's mom!

Cythe yelled at me though.

Flash's effect is just sorta *there*, has two real practical uses: trying to not get your next spell interrupted, and of course a hate tool. Not like it's 100% dependable anyway.

Actinic Burst (aoe flash) + Headbutt spam works wonders on MNKs in limbus when they 2hour

Stop trying and failing at zoom quotes, jesus. This thread has the third shitty attempt at one I've seen in the past few days. Welcome to six months ago, guys!

There's a time and a place for spells. For jobs being DD/Tank/Nuker/Healer... some jobs can do certain tasks easier than others. Like the way we have made warrior is DD. It can be a tank, but it takes a whole lot more effort than in being a DD (imho). Sam i thought was supposed to be a tank when it first came out but it's way easier to be a DD sam than a tanking sam. Some jobs are good at holding hate some are good at tanking. I bet a white mage can hold hate easy, but can't tank. Look how we changed up ninja, lol. The job wasn't intended to be a tank when it first came out was it? I think it was intended to be a DD... but guess what... we transformed it into an evasive tank/DD. Without /war or war/ Provoke it can become a hassle to hold hate but now ppl are using high breath mantles and other items to help them hold hate more. I bet if ppl really but effort and etc into it... they can step out of the box of 'tradition' and make their job do something else. Red Mages can tank... the problem is.. can they hold hate against 4 or so other DDs in their pt. XD
