Dancers, Maidens of the Battlefield (10/22/2007)

yeah, it did. But thats not the case.

Theyve been working on this expansion for a long time, and theyve already got most of it finished, and yet... Theyre still only advertising dancer with females. The majority of the references to "female" far outweigh the one or two references to male.

Look at all the past job advertising SE did. BLU, COR, PUP, even back to RoZ jobs. They advertised them with multiple races.

Why are you comparing gender with race?

For me, I just think they are showing females cos everyone wants to see a female dance! Gotta keep that Galka secret you know.

look to the side of the veil. That is a Sabs model female taru.

Which face/hair type. 'cause, you know, that doesn't look like neither
Tf6b.jpg

nor
Tf6b.jpg

which, according to
sabwhmsmn.jpg

is her model. You can see it with the help of several things. The taru facing backwards could be another model, yes, but the eyebrows are not even the same color.

That is definitely that face type Uzor...you can see the hair poking out on the right side...

Left side too actually

Actually, you're right. Apparently they've changed tarutaru female eyebrow color. The ffxiclopedia pictures show them as brown, but looking in altana viewer, they're gray. I still don't see how you can use that as proof that Dancer will be female-exclusive.

The FFXIwiki one seems to be from the character selection screen...and that thing is uber misleading. Just ask me old character, nowhere near as cool as I was led to believe lol

I didn't. Someone said that BLU had only male models when it was first introduced, but they showed other races and genders in the AF as the release date got nearer.

No, but others did.

Well we have a month to see and will probably know by or during the FFXI fan festival if Dancer is a Female only job. I just want new stuff to do and wonder what new BLU spells might be available.

Well if it turns out Dancer is a female only job, it's not a bad thing. That means there is a male only job coming.

IF, it turns out that way. ;D

I vote for that nice spell the Behemoths do called Meteor. ^^

But thats a spell. Not an ability.

Really, they need to add new weapon types for the new jobs. Dancer should get just daggers and shitty hand to hand skill.

Obligatory "I told you so" post.

Found at BG, from Famitsu/Dengeki (Japanese gaming magazines), translated by Elmer:

  • Man your "I told you so" stations! Dancer will NOT BE FEMALE-ONLY! Square-Enix confirmed "Males can also Job Change to Dancer."
  • Rumors of a new tank-job 力士 Rikishi (Wrestler, Strongman) are circulating amongst adventurers. ((Note: Different from the joke Sumo picture))
Hopefully this will FINALLY end that annoying "FEMALE ONRY" bullshit.
Ironically, it seems that the Sumo joke picture might come true, although not quite as a sumo...

Neato, althought I misread your post at first and thought it said Wrastler would be the male version of dancer.
Begin wrastling speculation!
Wrastling usually requires being limber and dextrous, wearing skintight or light clothing. So does this mean they'll be tanking a different way?

Now that that's been settled, I want them to unveil the other jobs, the 2 fan-fests can't come soon enough.

Wrestler/Strongman eh..maybe Vikingish... but who knows.

There will be Garka in the dancer AF... and I will cry.

Wrestler's male only.

/sarcasm

About the Wrestler thing, I'd guess it could refer to the Vikings from the North that battled against Gigas before they transferred to the mainland for the Shadow Lord's army. Viking was in Final Fantasy III, but its main ability, Provoke, was already given to Warrior. Still, it's a tank job through-and-through and has some basis story-wise, since they were a legendary tribe to the North whose strength rivaled the mighty Gigas. They're only briefly mentioned in the Life In Vana'diel book, but recently Square Enix has been taking more and more from it.
Viking? That could be interresting
