Personally, I could care less about the gameplay in Dante. I have a feeling I'll be thinking "been here, seen that"; that's fine with me to be honest since the risk for failure is lower. The fact they're trying to make combat a system of choices through two styles of combat (scythe vs. cross) is enough of a change from GoW in my opinion.
However, the setting is mind-blowing and provoking. To see a visual representation on the layers of hell with today's current technology is going to be stunning. We're going to be able to see the interpretation of those that read Dante's work. Of course, in reading the first part of the epic ourselves we can visualize our own images. However, in many cases they'll fail to be fluid; unlike the video game medium.
In addition, I think it will be interesting to view the creatures that others visualize when they think of hell. After all, we would likely all come up with something different. The same can be said of all settings and creatures, but this game is different in that it involves the universally known concept of hell.
Ultimately, my expectation is that I'll be starved for the next level just to see what elements it includes. Also, unlike a movie, this game will hopefully encompass a sense of fear and power of choice. After all, this game takes place in hell; failure to provoke terror, fear, and/or sorrow would be unacceptable.
