Dante's Inferno

Whats the difference between Redemption and Resurrection mode?
Honestly I'm not sure yet. It sounds like Redemption starts you completely over with your stats from previous playthrough and Resurrection starts you at the first Circle of Hell with stats from your previous playthrough. Tristam hasn't done either yet. I was basing it off of what I read about the modes because I was wondering what they meant.

Surprisingly little mention of this games real star, The Wang of Mephistopholes.

I could not believe his business was just hanging there while we fought. I laughed so hard.

Although Tristam hasn't tried it yet but with Redemption Mode (Save Game+) and Resurrection mode (start at the first Circle of Hell with all abilities, relics, and souls of your previous playthrough) makes it easier to get both maxed out if you really want the trophies.
What? I didn't get those two options when I tried replaying it >.O

Well, that makes perfect sense too.

Spoiler:
Because Lucifer couldn't have possibly told Charon, and Minos to attempt to prevent Dante from passing. Also, which portrayal of Lucifer? The giant encased-in-ice triple-faced beast? Because that was spot-on from the stories, the only detail omitted being each mouth chewing on a different traitor. They even included Lucifer's frozen tears. I'll agree that the smaller pan-like classic portrayal of Lucifer was a little bothering, but you can't really fully fight a giant encased-in-ice beast...because he's encased in ice.

Spoiler:
The giant one was great, ill give you that. The tiny horned demon I fought was terrible. And he was pathetic just like the grim reaper. Both of them were begging for mercy by the end pretty much. And come on, there are better ways to stop someone from getting to lucifer than to tell them they aren't dead. The game just had poor storytelling all around.

And yeah one of the modes started me at the first circle of hell. If the other mode starts you from the beginning thats just kinda silly to have because there isn't all that much before the first circle lol..

Well, you'll miss 1 Vergil...

Eh, not enough money to pick this up, I'll just wait for GoWIII.
I still have FFXIII and DA:O-A to get soon too.

Right, I meant why not just get rid of the mode that starts you in the first circle. Not like its skipping all that much content, just seems silly to me to have 2 things so similar to each other. Unless theres a difference i dont know about here.

Edit: And I just found out that if you do the one where you start in the first circle the relics move so that you can still get the first one next time you see Virgil.

Well, there's really only so much you can do with the translation from story to game. In the story, I don't know if it was ever implied that he was dreaming, or dead...I think it was just "he's walking through a forest, and suddenly finds himself at the Gates of Hell with Virgil". Not really altogether top-notch writing in my book either ;-)

Found it. Virgil commands Charon to allow Dante to go to Hell, on the grounds that he is there on divine purpose. It doesn't give away that Dante's dead yet, so (technically) the only person convinced that Dante is not dead is Dante himself at that point.

So I figured out how to start resurrection mode, but how do I start redemption mode? I wanna start from the way beginning so I can get all the coins.

Edit: I get the feeling that this is just a translation issue and there is only 1 of these modes and it starts you at the beginning of the first circle lol

It's one of those great literary debates. Some say that within a story's guidelines there is no need for human logic to persist above the writers wishes. Therefore, he can be alive. Then on the other hand you have those that believe in order to enter into Heaven or Hell you have to be dead. It wouldn't be any fun if Dante Alighieri flat out told us!

Darn right - it's why I like Inferno so much :D

Oh and don't get me wrong. I loved the book. I just don't like what the game did with the story.

I may disagree with you, but support your right to your opinion with full fervor.
