Multi-Plat Dark Souls (Demon's Souls 2! Sort of)

Ya, I don't skip a thing in this game. If I can't kill it straight up, I'll come back and find another way. I never give up. If I did, I wouldn't have beaten the Wolf with a sword in it's mouth, the Stray Demon, or Ceaseless Discharge.

You really think so? Theres only 1 enemy I've decided to skip so far (that wasn't a boss like the red dragon or ceaseless discharge). it was that guy before the first real boss, and you only get to him by going the wrong way.

Havel? If so, you're goin' to want to go back and kill him, unless you're also a person who just runs around with only a shield and weapon equipped.

I hope you didn't neglect to run Hellkite off her post after you beat the Gargoyles. 10,000 souls is quite nice that early on and it only takes one arrow to the back. I also hope you took the time to put 170-200 arrows in her tail to so you could snag a very nice sword.

Anyway, I do. Skeletons don't give souls nor have very useful drops/rates per themselves so I skip them if can, Ghosts are the same, Egg Carriers are not worth the trouble and never a threat pre-touch, after some farming Slimes become fairly useless as well. As a general rule of thumb, if it doesn't give souls or specific upgrade components I can't get somewhere else, easier, I skip it.

It's not about giving up, it's exerting fruitless effort. The spare here and there is fine, but, and especially with the ghosts, there just isn't any point, at all, and they're a pain in the ass.

Actually, you'll want to kill Egg Carries till you atleast get an Egg shell from them. You can use it on Snuggly and get a Dragon scale.

Eh, plenty of them around without having to do that. Well enough to complete your upgrades even, unless I'm missing an item that requires them. Still, it's nice to know that bit of information, thanks.

Thinking back, I left an item in Blighttown, the Iaito, because the bonfires were too far from it and the chance was too great at the time, I was booking it with 60k souls the first pass (you couldn't drive a tack up my fanny). Anyway, it's on a ledge below your actual progression path if you enter through the sewers (Gaping Dragon). I looked for a way over, but it seems the only way is by rolling or jumping down to it. The reason I didn't try this, is there doesn't appear to be a way to get back up after you grab it. Any ideas, or what did I not catch there?

Yeah, what I meant about skipping the dragon was for when I first saw it. I killed it later. And I just took care of Havel today. It's amazing what 4 giant fireballs in the face can do. I haven't had much weight issues in what I was wearing now, but with his ring I'm thinking of finding some heavy armor.

Also I accidentally happened about iaito. I'm pretty sure theres a way back up using a ladder from there. I don't like it much though because I haven't been raising Dex.

Yeah, I wouldn't use it, I'm just tryin' to collect everything. Thanks for that, I'll take the plunge next go.

what guy? :O the big knight guy? I bombed him to death :D

This is what I was referring to. Did you have a master key or something? Cause Havel is behind a door that's locked and the key is in Darkroot or something. But I was talking about the black knight down before the tower that's on the path to a ring, the defense on low HP one.

I'd imagine if it only took him 4 Fireballs he went through Darkroot Basin. Fighting Havel in the early game would be fairly easy, since he's slow and stupid, but it would take more than 4 Fireballs.

I finally decided on a covenant today, for all the wrong reasons (a weapon), but holy crap is it worth it. Demon's Spear is frickin' awesome, not so much that it's powerful, but all that lightening is ridiculous on non boss mobs. It's like a tazer on a ten foot pole. Just debating now on what I want to do with Sif's soul, that shield is speaking to me.

It's funny the amount of people who complain about the Fog Ring. If a player needs lock-on to win, they just don't deserve to win. Having played a metric ton of Monster Hunter, it's a non-issue in my book.

Hehe, it prolly depends on your play style. Since I like using big swords with a wide arc swing, I don't need the lock on so much. Just helps a LOT to do parry and reposte. I could see them allowing lock on if you're right up and close with the person though. Like, it keeps the mostly invisibility aspect, it won't let you lock on as far as normal, but up close and personal it can. I know a ton are asking them to do that. I don't mind either way.

But man, that glitch. When browsing their forums saw a thread asking them to patch it. That is quite ridiculous. Duping thingy.

I did have a master key. This is why I had to skip him the first time I went :P I went back to him later and just smacked him with some fire.

I see :P I started with the HP ring cause it claimed it was small HP regen -_- not a small increase to max HP. I was a sad panda when I learned that. And I didn't wanna remake my character cause I spent so much time making her look the way I want. Oh wellz.

The best way to Kill Havel early game is to get a bow, roughly 100 arrows and pull him to the entrance to Undead Burg. He never seems to go beyond the door of the tower and will turn around. So all you do is, back up through the door, he'll reverse walk backwords, shoot him a few times, he'll come at you, back up, and repeat. No Danger whatsoever. That's what I did for mine. It's also how i killed the Black Knights in the area.

PS: The furysword is fucking amazing.

Not sure if it works for Havel, I'd assume it does though, but the Black Knights can't climb ladders, if you know what I mean.

It's not about being awesome, it's about winning (within the rules). Nothing wrong with using your surroundings or your head for that matter.
