David Letterman is a piece of shit!

I did read your post but it was highly contradictory;

Prior to marriage he's single is what I got from that. Being in a relation ship for 23 years but single? No, he was in a relationship, not single.

That wasn't even close to 'biting your head off'. That was me saying that he was in a relationship. They were together for 23 years before marriage, cheating is cheating. If his wife comes out saying that they didn't have a monogamous relationship, then that's different, but I doubt that's the case. He just comes across as a whore who can't keep his pants on with his female associates. He may have 'told the truth' but it took extortion to get it out of him.

I'm not going to clarify what I've said because I've said it more than once. You can "doubt that's the case" all you want, but you don't know. I disagree. Period. But have fun roasting the guy. I'll just reserve judgement on someone before all the facts are clear. We'll see if he ends up in divorce court in a month.

But I do know that he slept with multiple women while he was with his future wife. Just because he cheated doesn't mean they would get a divorce either, they have a family. It's sleazy, especially since he made it his business to openly mock other people for being unfaithful, but if that's ok to you then that's your opinion, I can have mine.

It's not ok with me. If it were my boyfriend I'd be livid, but my idea of what a relationship means isn't the same as what it means to everyone else. I think when you decide to be with someone in a relationship and not just "date" you are making a commitment to that person and that anything outside that relationship would be cheating. But they aren't me and quite possibly may not see it that way... which is the point I've been making my last several posts. But nevermind, at this point you're just selectively reading and arguing in circles, and I pretty much don't care that much anymore. I was simply making the point that nobody but the two people at the heart of a relationship either know or dictate the terms of that relationship. To judge the happenings between a couple based on your own personal standards of what a relationship is without knowing the couple and their thoughts on the subject is pretty arrogant.

Hope Dave and the Mrs. work it out regardless for their child.

So he apologized to his wife for "hurting her deeply." So I was wrong, he is a douchebag. Tried to give him the benefit of the doubt, but that about clinches it.

People cheat, that's never going to change. Sucks he's in the public eye when his dirty laundry gets aired out, but good for him for not letting some other douchebag throw him under the bus.

Had he just paid the guy to shut-up, who's to say it would have stopped there? He probably felt neither option was going to pan out great for him and his personal life and indiscresions so may as well do it myself.

Better 'own' yourself than have some fuck tard own you.

Nah, I just missed it when I read your post. Clearly, I need more coffee. I agree with you on this one, so please accept my apology and ignore my idiocy (this time, at least).

No need to apologize, that's what these boards are for (I hope). You don't like something I say, challenge me on it. I'm aware I hold the minority view (though never the wrong one!)

I love how everything is political with Tom. Must've been beaten with the Red book numerous times growing up. No worries little fella, us Blues will take care of ya with our universal healthcare. :)

Virtually everything has political component to it. It's like air, it consumes us, we know it's everywhere but most of are completely obvious to it until we can't breath. Oh and universal healthcare won't take care of me. A death panel will tell me to go home and die because when I'm over 40, I will no longer be worthy to have the expensive medicine to keep me alive.

And I'm sure the huge ratings boost, that he knew was going to take place, had nothing to do with his "bravery".

Just to be clear, you know I never mentioned anything about it being brave right?? I mean, I didn't even hint towards it being brave, just that it sucks being aired in public. Any dirty laundry regardless of who you are would suck being aired in public. His home life, as light as they may be making this out to be mustn't be very light feeling, I wouldn't imagine.

I knew when I typed bravery I might get a reaction but I digress. You said the words "good for him" implying that somehow it was a good thing he got the best of that blackmailer by exposing himself first before he was exposed.

Well it wasn't. He's still a total douchebag and he only did it under catch-22 coercion. Now if he decided to clear his conscious because he actually had some sort of guilt then maybe I'd agree to you. Doing something because you have a gun to your head does not make him less of a douchebag.

He's also still a hypocrite.

Is that right. Okay Tom that makes total sense that it was in fact not a good thing he didn't let some random douchebag who was then sticking his dipstick in Daves leftovers cash in on Daves mistakes... sure, bad thing.

I never said whether or not his actions make him a hypocrite, I don't give a shit either way. It's better his money stay in his pocket.

He's still a total douchebag for the act itself if, and I believe he was, dating his now wife. But you know what, how many are out there that do it daily?? The guilt should be there, shows you're human and you do have some conscious, however, Dave is a showman, that's what he does nightly, if buddy was threatening to go public he would have found a way, tabloids are garbage but they're still extremely popular.

It's a good thing Dave did not let buddy cash in on his mistakes and stepped up to plate. And yea maybe it was in bad taste, depends who you ask. That's a personal opinion. If it were you in that position you would rather not fess up rather than pay out a years salary to some jackass whom you thought was your friend??

I may love you. You pretty much summed up how I felt when I heard about this.

And I reiterate;

'Better 'own' yourself than have some fuck tard own you. ' or maybe people would enjoy taking it up the ass unwillingly.. fuck idunno, but when someone tries to 'bend me over' I tend to fight back.

When did the discussion take the hypocrisy turn anyway? And why is soo very much on this forum molded into arguements of hypocrisy.

And why the hell wouldn't you praise a drug addicted person for kicking the habit? That's some cold slag, Miros...

Couldn't agree more. A drug addict that kicked the habit is to be praised. They made a mistake and they realized it and took steps to fix their life. That's a lot more than I can say for those who continue to use, some even proudly. I mean, congrats, you're really doing such good things for yourself and your community. Bravo, because you don't give a damn. And why should you, right?

Don't care about the Letterman thing one bit. It was his business until someone tried to get rich from it. Not saying it's right to cheat, but that was his business. Think of him as a bastard for it. I don't care. But let's say you were him, or just a cheater, and you had money that someone tried to get their hands on in their own attempt to take advantage and be sleazy...
I'd make every attempt to slap them down and ensure they got nothing more than the memory of being not a cheater, but rather a different, and equally massive shithead. I don't think cheaters are good people, but I really despise those that merely try to take advantage of an already bad situation for their own personal gain. THAT'S sleazy.

Usually when you put something in quotes, you're implying the person you're replying to said exactly that.
Just sayin' :>

David letterman is an asshole.

Why?

Because he wouldn't show Bill Hick's routine.

fuck idunno, but when someone tries to 'bend me over' I tend to fight back.

Then why did you put that tattoo there? :hiding:

As far as I know, David Letterman and his camp are still claiming that these indiscretions happened before his marriage. If that is the case, there is no legal issue with what he did (but yes, there is a moral one) and that is between him and his wife, who was his girlfriend at the time.

We do not know all of the facts. We are not involved. We remain unaffected. So who are we to judge?

Did he make fun of other people when they got caught with their proverbial hand in the cookie jar? Yeah, he did. It's his job. Keep in mind, when it all came down to brass tacks, he made fun of himself as well.

You can call him a hypocrite, you can call him scum, you can call him a womanizer. He fucked up for sure. And not just once. But I've got some things I'm pretty ashamed of in my past, and I'm not about to just volunteer that information to the prying public. I'd bet most people share that sentiment.

If you define a person by the bad things they've done, then you can put just about anyone's name in the title and make it work. "__<your name here>__ is a piece of shit!" Think about it.

Some of you are perverts.

I contend that all of us are perverts, just some of us know when not to open our mouths, figuratively speaking.
