Multi-Plat Dead Space

I'm really enjoying this game :P due to me writing a paper and going out though I'm only on chapter 8 of normal difficulty XD haven't died much (only once or twice :P usually cause of the vacuum places >.> and not cause of enemies but like asteroids or shit hitting me) but ya, I'm damn happy I got this game and really hope this is shaping up that EA is going to start providing quality games :P

The environment is amazing, the story is interesting, the characters are great. I can see the Half Life influence of how the story is gone through but I can see the Metroid and Doom influences too and whoo! just awesome

I think my only issue with the game are the save points. I feel there are far too many of them through-out the ship :P it's supposed to be a survival horror, should have less save points.

I don't have much issue with the save points, they let me play for a little longer by at least eliminating the "I really, really don't wanna do that part again so hope nothing jumps out and- BLARG!" stress. The atmosphere adds enough tension, don't need game mechanics to make it any worse, lol

Dunno about 360, but there's a PS3 trophy for beating the game on Impossible. "Epic Tier 3 Engineer " One of the only gold trophies in the game.

Read above the post I'm quotin' for that.

Also, are you able to change difficulty settings on a new game from that safe file? I loaded it up but it went straight to the opening scene so I just exited the game to try again later.

I just tried lookin' for my source on that and I can't find it (It was a review from somewhere like 1up, IGN, not a random Joe with a GameBlog). Vaguely, it stated you could beat the game then at the first save point in the game on the beaten file you can swap the difficulty to Impossible. It also said Impossible difficulty doesn't register until the first save point in the first place. The way they talked, I figured you couldn't even change to Impossible unless you where at the first save point in the game.

so wait, how do you continue off a saved file exactly? o.o cause I wanna continue with all my upgraded crap when I beat the game once through if I can :P I want fully upgraded everything!

Played it for maybe an hour or so. Don't see what makes it all that great yet, but I'll keep going. To me it feels like Doom 3 with less ammo so far.

Maybe you just wont like the game? I was impressed withing a couple of minutes. This is one of the most incredible environments in a game. I mean they took a greay box... (ship) And they made it deeper, with incredible sound and great visuals, then most games that take place in a fantasy world.. And the boss fights are just SICK.

The only thing they could have added for me are something like a close combat finisher for each weapon. So we can get the same great death scene the necros get when we are attacked off guard. Think Gears finishers but from close melle... Shit finishers on the floor would have even been great.

It felt kinda slow to me in the beginning, but by the end of chapter two i was hooked.

I just finished it, and I agree with Marajade.... "Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck." Heh. Also got the One Gun Achievement and started my second playthrough to try out the other weapons. I wish I'd thought of playing around with them and then reloading my save file, but at least this way I had no idea what I was missing.

The Line Gun is... very pretty.

Holy shit, the ending was great :D I <3 this game. I still say it needed fewer save point, perhaps less ammunition (though this was only on normal, so I guess that was pretty good, but maybe a tad less woulda been better), and perhaps a pipe or something for a melee weapon better than the weaponless swing :P

All in all, I say this game definitely deserves an 8 or 9. It's damn good

Edit: I have a question, if you load from the "game clear" file.. does that put you on the next level difficulty? or same level difficulty? cause I wanna go on to another difficulty but with my stuff saved over I guess XD or does it not work that way? (I can understand why if not)

So... Dont even put this together if you have yet to beat the game... It will spoil some story for you.

After you have beaten the game take a look at the first letter in the title of each chapter. If you take that first letter and line em up in order you get a sweet little message.

DONT DO IT IF YOU DID NOT BEAT THE GAME.

That's a pretty sweet message.

From what I played of the game so far it was pretty mediocre. Fallout 3 and LBP came out so I don't know if I'll get back to it any time this year.

So there is someone in the world who does not like Deadspace. Not sure why the game did not do it for you. It is still my GOTY and i only see a few more games so far this year that could change my opinion.

It strikes me very very very odd that you dont like the game. You are an Audio whore...

It's too bad because I hate it when I can't connect with a game that's generally considered very good. I mean, I don't have any flaws to criticize it for. Maybe I should just be playing it on Normal difficulty and cruising through it or something, the pacing could be too slow for me.

Well the game is linear and repetative to a degree. I am just so impressed that these flaws dont hurt the game for me.

To be honest the more I play it the less interested I am in it. I thought it was pure awesome now I'm seein' it's just pure repetition. I said this game wouldn't find its way back to a used game store earlier but I don't see any reason to hold on to it any longer, after I beat it, now. Still one of the best games to come out recently though, story wise.

Off the topic of the game, has anyone seen DeadSpace: Downfall yet? It's pretty badass. The animation is good and the voice actin' is superb. To bad english speaking anime companies can't hire people like this. After watchin' Downfall I'd much rather them made the game into a show as it's way more entertaining.

Just picked up the Blu-ray today. No time for it tonight tho.

I'm thinkin' about rentin' the Blu-Ray version but I dunno if it'll be much better, quality wise, than the version I saw. I watched a streamin' version with HD quality from the anime site I use.

that's a cool message, but boo at lack of answers to my questions
