I'm 8/12 on this synth, at level 89, with support, including two back-to-back breaks one time. I don't even have that shitty of a break rate on things that I'm 5 levels below. For that, I give a great big FUCK YOU to SE, for making this an automatic critical break, when all I'm trying to do is help some friends put their clusters together. If it was mine, then oh well, but when I break something that someone else worked so hard for, it's just fucking ridiculous.

Please, share your shitty break stories.

My image isn't showing for some reason, but it was a Hakutaku Eye Cluster break.
 
Man, that sucks =/. Had it happen to a few of my friends, and no doubt the conspiracy theories will start.... now.
 
Breaking and losing my Goldfish set on my goldfish bowl when I'm like 5 levels above it. Twice.

Thats like 1-2 hours of friggin goldfish scooping. Each.

Luckily I got it on my third attempt, whee
 
Mine broke before my HkTk run, I still went to help the others since it was technically my run... But yeah, it sucks >.>.

I'm sorry to hear that happened Tim, I'm 89 cooking myself and get worried with upper sycns now. Are those new guild points rings any good at reducing such breakages I'm really considering getting the cooking one.
 
Well if you synth and don't take break into account you are retarded. It's 5% breakrate if you are above the level limit. This pretty much means that for tier I recipe you can expect 1 break for 1 HQ (hi2u noble's tunic ?) and for tier 0, 5 breaks for 1 HQ.
 
LoL yeah critical breaks suck dude there bound to happen. Ive crit broke unicorn leggings(before mog bonanza) and broke 2 heca harness synths, even with this loss it won't stop me from crafting you got to take the good with the bad.
 
too bad you arent jp, you could use the "craft hq" button
 
I had a 2-3 day run where I broke 5/9 Nobles Tunics and 4/9 Vermillion Cloaks. All crit fails of course. That was buckets of fun.

To Tim, I got your back... Gave mine to the guy whos was broken (Ironically enough, Tim gave me the cluster out of the kindness of his own garka heart).

To everyone else, It sucks... But there is the good to accompany the bad.

And yes, I had a backup plan. It was called "Pay gil out of my own pocket and hope the guy could find a cluster in time"

actually that synth seems to have an abnormally high breakrate
 
Thats why I did CC, so I could be l33t like sanoske. Anyways, if you are below the cap for the item, expect more than normal break rates. If you were above the cap then I wouldn't see it that way.

Next time warn them "If I break I'm sorry but it comes with crafting" It was what I told each and every person that I crafted for. That way you CYA.

It isn't the crafters fault if they break, the buyer should know fully ahead of time the perils of crafting

Couldn't agree more. Everyone knows there's 2 ways to do it. Farm your own eyes (or buy your own eyes) and have them crafted, or just buy your cluster straight off from someone. Second is way more expensive, but the only risk is wiping to the NM. First is way cheaper, but takes time, and you have the risk of the synth failing. I must admit, you're the first crafter I've heard of who refunded for the break :wacko:
 
I went 1/2 on that synth.. re-fuckin-diculous, spent too long farming all those eyes for that shit to break. Luckily friend of mine had a few spare eyes kicking around made round 2 go a lot quicker.
 
Worst case I've had of this, was making Hakutaku clusters for some guy claiming he was farming them for his friends.

I ended up breaking 5 in a row, 20 levels above synth, they insta-critical synths loose all the materials.

Found out later he was just trying to profit off me and didn't even give me a tip >.>...

So then I felt better I only made 1 successful synth for him. :biggrin:
