And I have to agree, its really annoying when you go ahead and craft something, and find that some other people in this game who don't do any research undercut the price, and don't end up making any profit off what they synthed anyways (except in the case of people who spend hours farming every single item needed)

Its really hard to be able to craft something now, and have it up at the AH and actually make a profit... because people are selling as cheap as they can go to make that quick gil, yet little do they know that they're not even getting anything on it because of the cost of ingredients, possible AH tax etc.

I get tired of not seeing an item up for weeks then I make one and put it up on AH, only to check later and see 2 are up. I will take mine down and undercut the fuck out of idiots that don't have the balls to put theirs up until someone else does.

Hence, Royal Cloak, whoever you are hope you are having fun paying AH taxes while I sold mine the next day you fucking pussy.

I craft for myself, Alchemy, yay.

I really only sell whatever's left over due to HQs or not using them.

So no, profit isn't the whole idea to synthing. Some people use it for nonmonetary personal benefit. Such as a Mage taking cooking to 60 to make juices and Yagudo Drinks.

Here is the thing, people have different views on crafting and different relations to gil as such.

Whenever I crafted in any MMO, I did consider the cash needed to craft something a loss. In my mind, the second I combined something, I lost 100% of the cash needed to create with without a chance to ever get it back.

This attitude allowed me to do several things:
  1. I would only craft when I could afford to lose 100% of the cash needed to craft.
  2. I would not be stressed out about reselling the item.
  3. I would be able to sell the item at any price, even severely under current market value.
I understand not everyone is like that. But there are people like that out there, they do consider a synth a 100% loss of materials/gil required to synth. Thus they simply do not care whether they only get 50% of the current market value, or 25%.

As far as the example of someone undercutting themselves goes, that sounds more like an attempt to manipulate the AH history.
 
Some people play for fun, do not care if they lose gill as they can earn it another way. A HL crafter should not live off his/her craft as the craftsmen do not control the AH the farmers do.
 
Im just holding on to my crap and hope my losses eventually turn back in to what i paid for them ive lost over 20m easy just off armor ive bought and didnt sell if cause i needed for my jobs.

Im afraid to buy anything anymore just simple things like gluttony sword has dropped half of what i paid for, been tryin to sell a +1 sword i only paid 550k for i havnt been able to sell and its down to 380k in just one week... probaly just pld gear cause not very many plds lvling anymore

I feel ya. I must have lost 2M gil trying to sell this commander's cape, which is only worth 2M gil now... Stupid thing never sold. Ended up taking it off the AH and using it for my bst.
 
I take it back, commander's cape isn't worth 2M anymore, is it?

I would have been better off /tossing the damn thing. lol.

i never complained about high prices, prices have dropped further than what they were before cristmas now stuff ive had for over a year has lost value

On another note.. Undercutting pisses me off.. I remember looking at Nobles for 18M and wishing... now I see them at 8M and crying. Got to find a way to make 10M more to even out..

I mean Really do you know how boring /ma "Cure V"(w/e) <t> gets.

I mean melee's might get bored of seeing the same ws over and over. I never get sick of seeing Seraph stirke(Soon i was have hexa!) and then something falls over.

Hexastrike is crazy, I'm currently stuck with 2,214 as my max on hexastrike ; ;.
But as jobs for enjoyment, I find Ninja to be the best job, its fun, you can solo, its challenging and when you do a good job people are like damn. You can be a good whm and people not even notice it near as much as a good ninja.
