December 21, 2012 and Planet X

That's something else that gripes me. While yes, we're supposed to *want* to go to Heaven with Jesus and God etc., I don't think we're meant to put our lives on utter hold because we're anxiously awaiting His/Their return. That's why there's no tangible date given.

Do not think that I'm forcing words where they don't belong, but it feels like Jesus told John of Patmos "Listen, this is what the End will look like. Go live the remaining days of your life, enjoy it, and I'll be back when Humanity is in its direst need."

Waiting for something/anything to happen only creates undue stress and worry.
Exactly. I'm glad someone besides me realize this... I go a step further though; If you devote your entire life to a religion, and live by everything it teaches, you will end up ruining your life. And then you will b e utterly disappointed when you lie on your deathbed, looking back at your life, and realize how much you've missed because of all the things you avoided.

That is one of the reasons I don't believe in a religion with gods. Its all bullshit made up by people to control people.

There isn't much to follow, to be honest.

1) Love yourself.
2) Love one another.
3) Love God.

You're losing a little bit of the context of what I was getting at when you mix "church regulations" versus "God's regulations".

You don't need a religion to twist your views and opinions, as well as put you under a blindfold, to do the first two mentioned.

People believe in god because they need something to believe in, it doesn't mean they're ruining their lives. While yes, a lot of people do take that shit over the top. There is also a good chunk that live their lives being good people.

Just because you don't need god to make your life better doesn't mean you should insult the way other people live. I'm saying all of this as a Atheist. You need to respect others views otherwise you're just as bad as the people who force religion on people.

Bah I can't rate you up again yet.

Tristam and I are both Christians and are very open minded about learning about other people's beliefs. Yeah I probably believe some stuff that the church would be like, "Holy crap you're a heathen!" but it's my own personal beliefs from my own experience. Every person personalizes their religion or lack of one.

Yes you don't need to claim to have a faith in a deity to be a good person. What everyone believes is their own personal walk in life. Some people do crimes in the name of their faith or lack of faith. There's bad seeds in every philosophy. I just can't stand it when people dislike someone just because they're Christian or Atheist. It doesn't make sense to me.

Sorry for adding to the derail.

STOP WITH THE DOOMSDAY PROPHECIES. If you're so into this shit, and if you're all about adding in the religious element, STOP ACTING LIKE A FALSE FUCKING PROPHET. Your facts are skewed beyond any form of recognition, your banter lacks wit or tact, and when anyone (and I MEAN ANYONE) gives you a sound rebuttal, you toss up your hand-drawn graphs and effectively say "NO U!"

That's not true. The rebuttal i receive has been based on misinterpretation of what I'm saying, and the attack of my personal belief. There's a reason as to why i said the good thing about this day, is we'll see truth in the matter even if nothing happens. For the most part i hope nothing does happen. If i never believed it would happen I'd still write about it and never receive any posts like yours now would I ?

Honestly? I'm depressed enough about the End Times. For some AWFUL reason I haven't been able to go a single day without thinking about it for almost 8 years now (I've had dreams about it that'd make you piss your pants). EIGHT YEARS. In that time I've read Revelation 16 times. It's not a fun read; I dare anyone to read it and come out unscathed (fuck off, you macho pieces of shit. It scares you too and you know it.) The last thing I want to hear about is some random fella spewing off shit about the Mayans and their Alien ass-rape-buddies coming down in a fiery blaze.

All of which i think is what Revelations is talking about.

As for this planet not being visible until '09: As Celvantes, and EVERY OTHER PERSON WITH ANY GUMPTION has already indicated, if it were on a 3600-year cycle, we'd see it now, and for the love of God, we'd even see it at daylight. Learn some perspective.

Which is why we're now speculating the Planet Eris which can be seen Via telescope right now. NASA gave us estimates of it's elliptic Orbit, which is similar to how Nibiru is suppose to move, they also gave us it's size and mass, and is now referred to as the 11th Planet in the solar system as they also decided to refer Ceres to be one also . Let alone it took them 2 years to do that. Eris's Orbit has been calculated mathematically by NASA astronomers which really are good at what they do, but there is always room for error, or even worse. Personally i don't think the government would let us know if we're in for a catastrophic event if they knew about it, don't hate me for it.

In conclusion; get a dictionary, get a reliable source of information, and get a fucking clue. If the world's going to end in 2012, there's only one entity I'll be listening to about it, and it sure as anything won't be a Mortal shouting about the Mayans.

I never said the world is going to end. I mentioned how some think the end of the Mayan calendar is Doomsday. I also brought up how Science mentions how we're due for Pole Shift. Which will bring about huge electrical storms, Heat waves, Hurricanes, Earthquakes on the mass scale, Volcanic eruptions as all of them get set off with a large blast radius. In question with or without this Nibiru will it occur on 12 21 2012, which is the day the Mayan suggest the world will cleanse itself. For the millionth time, we'll see when the time comes.

This is why I like the Jewish interpretation of things. There's no cataclysmic end of days breathing down your neck, just the direction to lead a good life according to the values taught in the Torah.

G-d made the world and all that's in it... if you live according to His laws, you'll live in harmony with the world and your life will naturally flourish. If you go against His laws, there's no need for divine punishment... by going against the natural order of things, you bring about your own demise like someone who insists upon running straight off a cliff.

Like Christians, we wait for the Messiah as well (just the first coming as opposed to the second). But, we don't view it as an end of days. Rather, we view it as G-d recognizing our our ability to finally live by his Law and leading us to the next stage of our being, hopefully in some way closer to Him.

In our eyes, the Messiah will come when *everyone* is living the life G-d wants us to lead... no judgment would be necessary because everyone would be judged worthy.

I wouldn't call that open minded towards others beliefs.

Oh no, I know, and I do respect other people's beliefs. Of course there's "good" christians, etc. But from personal experience, the majority of the people that are crazy, that go by the whole "The earth is flat!" or "If you drink you'll go to hell!" or "If you have premaritial sex, you will live a dreadful life!" are religious people. These are the types of people that I consider living with a blindfold over their eyes. Also, its only religious people that think you can only live a good life following a religion. Christianity and Islam (which, ironically, are pretty much one and the same) are the least tolerable religions as well, which is why I don't really like them.

I'm speaking tolerable, in that they are the ones that try to push their religious views on the rest of the world the most. This includes the censoring of movies, books, and a constant battle against everything against their own religion, such as abortion and homosexuality. Granted, those are usually unique cases that in no way describes the religion as a whole, but they're religious nontheless.

I agree with that. The Commandments the 7 sins and all the teachings is not to constrain us. It's for our own protection. Stealing, killing, adultery etc... they have extremely negative effects that isn't in the best of interests.

HIV virus for example, can be quarantined if the world followed some of the laws in the Bible.

Spiritually that's what it's all about. All major religions believes this.

Not without the plan. (no pun intended, that's plan, not "planet") The world is not fit to be judged worthy yet. We're suppose to be in the next evolution.

Well I can't speak for him all of the time I guess. There are some things that he believes that I don't and vice versa but for the most part he is usually open-minded. For some reason this post struck a nerve with him. I've been reading it for the most part and I had no idea that he worried about the end of days so much. I can only speculate why he would say that but I could be wrong. I think some of the theories in this thread are interesting (although could have been discussed in a more civilized manner) but I don't believe in all of it. Everyone has their own theory about the end times.

The earth is flat in this day and age seems to be a cult thing. Argumentative but not dangerous. It's not best to dwell on such things if it upsets you.

If you Drink you'll go to Hell ? I don't think so but abusing it can transform you into a person that isn't fit for anyone.

Premarital sex. It has inflicted damage on millions of us. There are many single parents out there from their mate leaving them without law which is unfortunate for the child. If we only had sex with people we were married to, there would be no spread of STD's.

My greatest lover is trying to get in touch with me again. Had we never had sex there would be less pain. She wants more of this, and i do want more of that, but what happened with us in the past is wrong, and getting back together can be dangerous. From what i know her other man has been very disloyal to her, as she became so with me. If i can have my virginity back i would cherish it. Between her and i we miss one another very much, and there was a lot of pain for me, and now for her. Beyond pride I'm fighting the urge to give her a nice blaze. I'll always be kind to her, but i won't allow some things to happen again.

Some of them are blind and are tactless towards people outside of their religion, and vice versa. Being in a religion does not make one better or worse, as many of them do not practice the teachings of the religion.

Can't blame them for being goody goody. There are also non religious people that find the best of electric entertainment offensive and vulgar.

Indeed, but they don't preach bannings of Harry Potter due to involving witchcraft and wizardry.

I would. Please enlighten me, Ant; how is what I said not open-minded to your beliefs? Shall I use my Stellar Raccoon example again? You're free to believe what you want, dude. I don't have to agree with it though.

Being open-minded doesn't mean pandering, no matter how you slice it. You have been presented factual evidence as to why this theory cannot work, and you still persist. Granted, many Atheists and Nihilists would say the same to Christians worldwide, so perhaps we're not so different after all.

Step off the soapbox, buddy.

Oh please. Premarital sex is awesome. You gotta try on the shoe before you buy it. My fiance and I would not be as close, or as in love, as we are now if we had stowed away our emotions and sexual frustration in tight little packages.

This is why, in my personal belief, most Christians are so uptight. (c wut i did thar)

Sex is awesome. And you should all strive to have it. Probably help chill you out a little more. :\

Alyada just earned post of 2008. XD I'm Christian and I had sex before I was married. Another reason why I have no right to judge others. I'm a sinner!
