Was in a Dunes party earlier for a couple hours with this PLD - setup was WAR PLD SAM THF SCH BRD. (I was the SCH)

Noticed early on that the PLD was barely casting anything, notably not really curing himself. The BRD was helping with the cures a lot, and spent most of his time draining his MP into helping keep the PLD up.

A few times me and the BRD had to drain out our MP big time to keep the PLD and/or WAR alive, leading to 2 minute long rests to refill MP. I found myself taking hate on occasion with just spamming Cure 1. With the PLD still at 45-50 out of his 56 MP remaining. I told him a couple times that he really needed to cure himself at least a little more often. He complained with the usual "don't tell me how to play" response, after which he continued not curing himself.

There was more than one incident where I had to spam Cure 2s to keep him out of red HP, taking hate and nearly dying myself - luckily provoke was up so I lived. PLD still at 50+ MP.

Finally at one point after a sheep slept the whole party, including me because I was just barely within range, I noted that I was asleep and the PLD cured me to wake me up. In turn I woke the bard and we woke the rest of the party. The PLD then after the mob was dead proceeded to cure me two more times for 0 HP, and I asked him why he was curing me for no reason, adding a quip that I was glad he was finally casting cures at least.

At this point he raged and warped out, and the following tell convo ensued. Thought it was a little amusing, but this guy's rather disagreeable.

On a related note, people really need to speak up when people aren't doing something important to their job. If you see that your PLD isn't even curing himself, or an RDM isn't enfeebling a mob, etc etc. please say something. This guy seriously thought I was the only person that noticed he was doing a poor job, but shortly after he left the BRD said he though Dim was pretty bad, even my friend Jon who's been playing for about 5 days and was in the party (he was the WAR, and wants to level PLD) noticed that he wasn't doing his job lol.

Anyone remember the old days of draining your MP to force the PLD's to cure themselves? ...oh you died? woops....
 
I've found the best way to teach those PLD's the proper way to play is to not cure them. After a death or ten they start caring about curing themselves. Blacklist to ignore their bitching.
 
I should add, some of them are especially stubborn in their stupidity; and just leave the group in a hissy fit. It still solves the problem of a shitty tank not doing their job.
 
He probably is only used to tanking with a high level PL babysiting him lol. Guess he figures his own mp isnt for using when he has others to expend theres for him.
 
I usually find that drgs shouldnt try to play other jobs.

I think the real question is this:

Do low-level paladins count as minor HNMs now, and will they rage out after an average of 2 hours of holding?

Squisher then Crab? and No Cursed Sphere?

Remember you got a crappy PLD in that PT.. you want a Crappy PLD tanking Damslfly? thats like death wish for tag and that rdm.

So best mob for that crappy pt is Crab or Sheep
 
yep, people fight sheep now cause there's an FoV page for em... 4 flies 4 sheep.

and yeah, flies were generally a massive MP drain and would result in me or the bard taking hate at least momentarily. We tried to save most of the big healing for after the fly died.
 
Sounds like a kid to me. And nobody likes being told how to do their job, even (especially) adults.

Sounds like an idiot, that and he needs to learn to hit the right keys when he's typong. But it seems he's bin playing fine without curing on PLD.

I know that.... maybe I should've been more specific. Why are you fighting a mob that AoE sleeps when your PLD had such an aversion to casting the spell Cure and couldn't hold hate off the mages? That was just asking for fail. FoV doesn't get you more xp when you wipe or your fights take 5 minutes because people are constantly zzin.
 
We had enough DD that the fights tended to be pretty short.
 
Sheep aren't actually that bad. They're actualy one of the easier thing to fight for an exp party. It's just that most people in the dunes are noobs and cant be assed to wake anyone up from seep
