Dissidia: Final Fantasy

Is it just me...or did the hero from the video Yurirem posted sound like that former black ranger that is also Ichigo and Vash the Stampede?

You interpreted my post wrong. I had posted something, but had posted in the wrong forum.
Nice job interpreting it, hero.

Not my fault you left an expression of my feelings. After all, I'm a Hero not a Wizard, like yourself.

I'm liking the English voices, did overnight on my pre-order and can't wait for August 25th.

Yep it's pretty much confirmed that Firion = Johnny Yong Bosch.

Apparently the english version will include gameplay changes. Some characters moves will be altered and there will be "new" ones. Such as Emperor getting an aerial version of Flare. Yummy.

I should sell my JP version before it's too late. >_>

Chances are if you're not digging the English voices I'd wait for:
A: The shitty undub;
B: The "international" version bound to come out in Japan should these rumors of new things be true.

english voices of dissidia aren't bad at all :P never get why people hate dubs, gonna go with "japanophile" XD

Exactly. These voices are stellar.

"Japanophile" maybe, I must admit a lot of dubs these days are pretty good.
But mostly due to the endless complaining of us anime and game fans that voices were so extremely horrible.
And trust me, in the past you could count the well dubbed anime and games on one hand between the countles of examples where you'd just want to kill the vcr.

These days they are more willing to spend more cash getting real actors to dub games and cartoons because they also see it improves their sales ratings, by a lot!

Although I am curious how they think to replace Megumi Hayashibara.

I know in the past but that was YEARS ago actually.. a LONG time ago.. and it wasn't limited to just anime but to all forms of animated entertainment lol. We've just been improving over all :P

It hasn't been that long ago actually.
Unless 3 years is a long time.

exactly, see, the thing is, most Japanophiles tend to ignore quality of a dub and assume "They're not getting the right emotion!" even though almost more than half of them don't even know if the Japanese are getting the right emotion :P they just love Japan so much they just go with it lol.

Fightin' game battle cry's/chants do not belong in English, they sound retarded and usually end up makin' the character say somethin' stupid or -over dark/dramatic-. The English language is not animated enough to make sense of it, but that's just my opinion. I know when I fight I'm NOT sittin' there screamin, "Burn to ruin in the dismal abyss of nothingness!" nor do I want to hear somethin' as corny as that while I'm fightin'.

Maybe one day we can act like adults with various opinions instead of throwin' insults because your entertainment voice standards are lower/different than mine.

*shrugs8 it's a fantasy game, what fantasy game would have them actually seem like they're fighting in real life :P there are other fighters for that. So I just kinda take it as "part of fantasy fighting"

I don't care so much what they are sayin', preferably they wouldn't say anything at all, just grunt and stuff. If it's in Japanese, a language I don't understand fluently, I don't have to sit there thinkin' how corny somethin' is. Call me picky, not a "Japanophile". I can't stand corny dialog that I can understand, it's embarrassing for some reason.

It's not just Japanese either. I'd preferred Prince of Persia to be in Arabic, Assassin's Creed to be in Hebrew, etc. Just seems to bring more life into the game world. Sure their is no FF world language, it's not set in Japan, but I hope you can understand my point.

Sorry, there's a bit more to it then the emotions the voices give to the characters.

Even though the quality has increased much of the voice acting, dubs still tend to make me cringe here and there in ways of mistranslation, cultural reference and jokes.
Now I am fully aware that a lot of things, especially references to culture and jokes can't be litterally translated from any language to english without the risk losing it's meaning or clue but with dubs a lot of the studios aren't even trying to find another way to say it in a way which does make sense.
They simply make something up which makes no sense at all to the item, completely change the story or even worse, cut out the entire scene. (Yes, even that still happens).
In that regard, the quality of that has not been improving until recently.
It's only in the last couple of years that the bigger anime and game distributors (Madman, Funimation, Kaze, Viz, etc.) started to pay attention to things like that.
Distributors that have anime and games on the side but not as their primary focus (Universal, Disney, etc.) most of the time still do not.

And occasionally still the fact that even though the voice actors and acting itself are not bad at all.
It simply does not feel right with the character they are playing.
One recent example is Star ocean 4, where the voice acting is great and for example the actor playing Edge Marverick has done a splendid job with the acting, but the voice sounds too old for a 19 year old.
The voice simply doesn't fit the character played.
Although I do admit that this indeed is something personal.

Oh no! They changed a Japanese joke that only 2% of the english speaking viewers will catch! DUBS ARE THE DEVIL!

Think he means when they leave them in but mis-translate them so they don't make any sense.
