There's still actual battlefields. but it has a world map now, replacing the chess board system from the original.
You'll still encounter enemies, and fight them in a separate battlefield, there's also dungeons, etc.
And the original story is included as an unlockable, and it uses the world map system as well instead of the destiny points board.
I believe there's still something in Duodecim that uses the boards, but not sure what it is, maybe the dungeons?
The world map is the Final Fantasy I world map, which is pretty cool.
Yeah, dungeons in the game use a destiny board-like system. There's no more destiny points, though. Instead you get Kupo Points for beating enemies, and beating multiple enemies on the same tile earns you a KP multiplier. Also there's some optional dungeons where if you beat them while under an optional level cap, you get a huge amount of KP.
On the world map there's also Mannikins that roam around that you can engage. If you attack them, you get some sort of starting benefit (I think they start off in Break, but I'm not entirely sure). I haven't seen any detriment to being attacked by them first, though.
What about the original story?
I know it uses the world map system as well, but what about the DP Rewards such as rosetta stones/summonstones/equipment they had in the previous board system? Are they made available via other options? And you found various summons and such as well.
Oh, and Xali, pre-order this at Amazon for the Amano Tifa alt, I'm pre-ordering at GS for the KH Cloud alt, we can share PSN's and download the costumes the other one gets.
Also, just announced, NA is indeed getting the Cecil sprite alt, it's a code included in FFIV: The Complete Collection.
I've already got a buddy lined up to preorder from GS, but I'd be happy to share my Tifa DLC with you as well Tiael.
As for items, I'm not too sure. I've only been scratching the surface with JP DDFF, and since I can't read Japanese/can't be assed to look up translations I'm not sure what the KP moogle sells. There's still treasures and summoning stones in dungeons, but you can also happen across treasure chests on the world map.
If I had to guess, though, I'd assume that the KP moogle sells Rosetta stones and the like.
Ah, would definitely appreciate the Amano Tifa from Amazon, thanks.
If you don't plan on picking up FFIV: TCC I'm likely going to be getting that as well and will have the Cecil sprite.
NA hasn't heard anything regarding Aya Lightning alt yet from T3B, so I'm not positive I'll be picking that up.
English trailer, confirms majority of the voice actors will be returning, such as Rachel Leigh Cook (from Advent Children) for Tifa, Bobby Edner as Vaan, Ali Hillis as Lightning, Liam O'Brien (from Final Fantasy IV DS) as Kain, and Hedy Burress as Yuna.
Not enough Gilgamesh to discern if John DiMaggio is voicing him (did in XII), but from the one battle line it does sound like he is.
Also, no idea on Laguna's VA, I personally feel it sounds like Kevin Miller (who voiced Sly Cooper), and of course, Prishe is only grunting a few times in battle, so we have no idea on her either.
I'm not sure which character it was but which ever one had the line, "This is farewell, warriors of the cosmos." at 2:22 in that video definitely sounded like Christopher Sabat (of DBZ and other anime voice acting fame) to me and I'm very familiar with his voice work. But which character was that, Chaos?
amazon has some cheap large memory stick micro's for psp, only because I researched it for my fiancee, since he has pspGo and needs more space for games.
Probably just haaaaaaaaaaaaave to wait for it to be updated.
Sometimes some stuff goes up early before they post the update notice on PSN blog, but it seems like this is not the case.
Ahh, I gotta get used to playing Dissidia again, been over a year since I played the original, and I'm rusty.
Not to mention, in the story mode Lightning definitely takes some getting used to, it took me like 5 tries to beat Cloud, argh.
Partially because I had shit health due to previous battles and HP doesn't heal inbetween story battles in this one.
Definitely loving the Commando role though, and Medic is good for mind-games and getting some BRV in the process, however I didn't use Ravager much.
Kain rocks though, kicking ass with him in Arcade Mode.
