I can't remember if you have an issue with the un-official Windower and its plugins or not, but there are some that keep track of job/ability recast and spell duration if you were unaware of it.
Well first off I use vista, and recast plugin really hates it, so I run windower without most plugins =/
I mean, erm, windower, wuts windowar?
Second, my point is not a, "I'm waiting for my job to be ready" Cause I haven't even used it yet. I'm saying I need to have all my recasts memorized so I can plan out my moves in the proper order to maximize my efficiency in combat.
IE I know my steps are 15 seconds, sambas last a minute before they need a recheck, walztes are 10-15 seconds, violent flourish is 15, reverse is a minute, so on and so fourth. It has nothing to do with knowing, "Oh, my ja is ready!" its me planning out ahead of time based on the fact that I know how long all my JAs last and recast before I even use them.
I'll give an example in combat.
I know violent flourish is a 15 second recast, utsu is 30 seconds first cast, and quickstep is 15 seconds. So I'll have utsu up before hand (ichi), first thing I do, a usual is quickstep. I then immediately follow with a violent flourish to stun the mob for 3 secs while I recast utsu cause I prolly lost shadows pulling.
Then I know in my head ahead of time, that utsu is 30 secs, and flourish is 15. By now quickstep is ready, so I pop lv 2 for violent flourish acc that I need. Then I do whatever until violent flourish is ready.
That means 15 seconds has gone by, so utsu is halfway recharged. So I now wait for my step to reload, which takes... 15 seconds.
then I use violent flourish and pop utsu again, followed by box step, and finish up with a reverse flourish. Rinse, and repeat.
This is what I mean by keeping check of recasts in my head. Because I can't monitor utsus recast cause it's in an entirely different menu, I use the recasts of my various JAs to keep track of it in my head.
Recast plugin would be nice, but sadly I cannot use it. And besides, I find it annoying =/
