A little known fact is that Ronald Dahl (author of the book) hated the Gene Wilder movie. After that he would never let anyone make a movie of any of his books until Tim Burton convinced him to let him do James and The Giant Peach (which Dahl liked because it was true to the novel). When Dahl died his family respected his wishes that no one but Tim Burton would be allowed to make a movie of his books. Apparently Burton was the only person with a skewed enough vision to turn Dahl's F*cked up novels into equally twisted movies.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the info, that makes me want to check out the movie for that reason alone.

Rabid's got a huge point.

Ronald Dahl's books are DARK, compared to all other childrens books. They're like "Edgar Allen Poe, for kids!"

It is also a little known fact that Dahl was an anti-semite <sp?> which I learned in literature class in college.

Which is why, when I have little Wonkos of my own scampering about, they're going to be reading every book Roald Dahl published.

I used to Looooove "WITCHES" when I was a kid <3

Upon reflection, my top two would be Roald Dahl and Shel Silverstein.

When I have little Sabbers (If...sigh) running around they're going to be reading The Little Prince and The Meloncholy Death of Oyster Boy and other Stories inbetween me teaching them how to strangle others with controller cords when they lose in SSBM.

I just finished watching the trailer. I want this movie to start...NOW! lol....

I will read my (eventual) kids from Uncle Shelby's ABZ Book by Shel Silverstien - if you haven't read it....FIND IT!!!!! It is HILARIOUS and sarcastic. I love all of his work, but that is definitely my fav. <3

I cannot freaking WAIT for Tim Burton's WILLY WONKA <3
I mean, I looooooooooooooooove the original...but Johnney Depp (/drool) as Wonka - it is bound to be good. And I am thinking that Tim Burton's version of "Oompa Loompa's" is going to be freaky as hell.

Damn I hate waiting for the summer blockbusters. ><

This is incorrect. Johhny Depp is gonna be CHARLIE not WONKA. God

Noooo...the little boy from FINDING NEVERLAND is Charlie - JOhnney Deep IS WOnka...why would Johnney Depp play a 10 year old? He is good, but...

I originally thought that the remake was going to be when Charlie grew up and ran the place. However, it seems that it just a remake and not a sequal, which would be pretty cool too see too
