Well here's my story (i'll try to give the short version) ....

Last night i'm partying in Boyahoda as my Rdm. Well we have no Blm so trains are goin a little slow but that's expected when training crabs w/ no Blm.

So the War/Nin, who is our tank, is CONSTANTLY giving me advice on what enfeebs she wants to see and what not. She keeps requesting Slow and Haste more specifically, which I explain to her that Slow is hard to get to stick on crabs so i'll use it when i have Elemental Seal charged, and otherwise i will keep it paralyzed.

so leveling continues...

Here we go again >.< "Slow would really be more helpful for me to keep Utsusemi recasted" and this continued the WHOLE time we partied, but i'm a nice guy and i kept my mouth shut and no one else in the pty cared enough to say anything.

So here's my Flame, not so much directed at the annoying warrior, but to advice giving in general. The problem wasn't Slow hon, the problem was that you weren't that good of a tank and couldn't keep your shadows up. You should have asked one of the other vokers to countervoke for a recast instead of complaining to me all friggin day. So i say this... Unless you're GOOD at your own job, don't give advice on mine. Thank you and have a nice day!

It was agreed at the start of the party that the WHM would haste the tank and i would haste Everyone else. Refresh and Haste take time to charge and long to cast. Most of the time i didn't have a chance to cast slow after my standard enfeebs for crabs(Dia, Paralyze, Shock) becuase i was busy helping the Whm keep yo arss alive!

The war/nin was absolutely right. You need to cast slow always, especially with a blink tank. A war/nin is also not a ninja, they can not be expected to keep shadows up always. But with slow they'll stay up longer and you'll take less damage and get less downtime. Slow is FIFTEEN MP, it should not be an optional debuff. If you can't get it to stick I suggest you invest in more MND stats.

Then she still should have had another voker take hate while she recast. As for the mind, well i can't.... I sub Blm so that i can MB and nuke after enhancing and enfeebling, so all of my gear is INT+. I'm capped in everytyhing though, shouldn't that be enough to get Slow to stick?!? I only have the trouble with crabs it seems.

Most RDM use gear swap macros... for example.

/equip l.ring "Int Rings"
/equip r.ring "Int Rings"
in your int based enfeebles.

/equip l.ring "Mnd Rings"
/equip r.ring "Mnd Rings"
in your mnd based enfeebles.

As a general rule of thumb, any spell you find in the AH under the black magic section is int based, white magic mnd based. For example poison bio is int based, dia slow para is mnd based.

I'll put this as nicely as possible...

Warrior is a damage dealer, not a tank. They don't have enough abilities or any spells to keep hate, and if they don't want to die every 5 minutes, they'll use defender greatly lowering their damage output and also making them hold really bad hate.

If all you can find is a warrior to tank, you'd be better off just looking for a pld or nin in a bit.

As for slow sticking, yeah use +mnd gear and I think light staff helps it stick more, I'm not sure as I'm not a mage though. Might want to check on that. This is all assuming you're 51+ =P

Yep SLOW is probably one of the best enfeebles to Always cast. However I would be irritated too if she kept repeating it no matter how right she was, and probably would get a yell back form me. ^^

Slow and paralyze is usually a must in any battle.

If you're 51+, you'll actually want to macro your Earth Staff for Slow. As the only job in my static with innate enfeebling skill (a blm/whm in a static with a paladin, bard, summoner, thief and ranger), I find myself the best choice for landing the whm enfeebles. I don't use any Mind equipment, but I haven't had many problems landing slow and paralyze after one or two tries since I began using the elemental staff that matches the element of the enfeeble. For quick reference, they pair as Ice/Paralyze+Bind Earth/Slow, Wind/Silence, Dark/Blind+Sleep, Water/Poison. For a while I was debating whether to use the matching elements as described above, or a water staff (+4 mind) for all whm enfeebles and an ice staff (+4 int) for all blm enfeebles. I had the best luck matching elements.

Warrior is a damage dealer, not a tank

I'll agree to an extent...
War's are shit tanks unless you have a Thf for hate control, but if you sub Nin i expect you to be every bit as good of a tank as a Nin is. Otherwise you're just a filler in the party :(

Actually she kept hate fairly well (we did have a Thf in the party) even though our Drk kept using Souleater every time it was charged  but that's another thread in and of itself!

WAR are different than NIN, not better or worse. I might say a WAR/NIN tank is really nice for low damage mobs that you are perhaps low IT or high VT on for fast chaining because they'll be able to tank fairly well and still be good damage dealers.

Of course the best setup with WAR/NIN tanking is 2 war/nin trading vokes. So it really depends. You can't blame a war/nin for taking damage any more than you can blame a paladin for taking damage, they don't have the same tools to blink away hits.

Damn Fire, making me agree and crap...
It's sorta not the WAR's fault that he can't recast Utsusemi well enough because you can't cast slow =\ granted, WAR isn't really too great of a tank unless you have two WAR/NIN that trade hate, or a 74WAR/NIN altogether.

And just for future information...Utsusemi Ichi can be sortof tough to cast, since it's cast time isn't spectacularly fast, so Slow really DOES help a whole lot =P

Hmmm i must be a tard then, i was under the impression that Paralyze was the enfeeble i needed to stick for Utsu recast. After about the first five attempts of slow not sticking, i just quit casting it alltogether until i have Elemental Seal ready again.
