Alright, this is isn't a flame persay, but it could be taken as a flame.

So anyway, I have a good friend, he has DRG and PUP lv75. Hes miserable ingame, people decline pt invites from him, they refuse to invite him, While he's on PUP, he truly enjoys the job though.

We could say, level another job or get over it, but what if the job you really really enjoyed playing people refused to pt w/. I understand PUP has no real defining atributes minues an on Par Puppet, under par Hand-to-hand skill, and poor gear choices.

Why don't people want to xp w/ PUP though? This from my understanding from friends on other Servers is Unique to this Server. I can't point any single player for this, but I can say that the prejudgemental attidute people have towards PUP is absolute BS. Everyone says PUP are weak? Anyone seen what a PUP can really do? Probably not, because they've never been given an amble chance to show the world what they can do.

Just goes to show ya, if you aren't in the Mainstream as far as jobs go, you're up a creek w/out a paddle destined to live your ingame life, unsatifyed, unfufilled, and unwanted.

((I know this won't change peoples opinions, but I can't stand to see good friends leave the game or channge servers b/c no one appreciates their job.))

Every PUP i've pt'd with has been fucking awful. Therefore if I see a PUP and a WAR / SAM / DRK / DRG / MNK / BLU. Hell any DD i'm taking them over the PUP. You can say "well equipped PUP's are great" all you want but i'm not risking my and 4 others xp on whether or not this PUP is one of the very few good ones.

The reason a lot of people hate PUP, is because the majority of PUP's suck. Apparently the job is too technical for most people. Hence, people such as Queenandariel gives PUP's a bad name, resulting in people mostly waiting for jobs that are decent even if someone plays them below average.

Sure, there are good PUP's out there. People just don't want to take any chances anymore. I'm sure a good PUP with H2H merits, Faith torque, Cerberus cestus or w/e they're called and full Usukane could keep up and perhaps even outdamage a lot of other melee jobs. But the amount of PUP's with that is... very scarce.

The fact that you mention full Usukane alone probably means 0.

If invites suck that bad it's pretty easy to start your own party. Don't count on them getting off the ground though.

When I was levelling WAR 30-50 I (or my DRK levelling buddy) had to start my own parties 80% of the time because it just wasn't that popular back then. Probably half of the parties I started ended before we left the city or within 1hr of getting to camp. It's the shitty end of the stick you have to live with for taking up a job you like that nobody else does.

look, he put up with it for 75 levels. he's a pup, its been known since day 5 of treasures that pups just plain suck. its been made increasingly clearer and clearer. he had his chance to quit and do a job someone might actually party with. maybe he should just move on and play pup for fun soloing. anyhow, even if your the best pup in the world, you're a pup. deal with it or move on.

you're pretty much eppitomizing(sp) the attutude he's talking about. just like you dont like pup's he doesnt have to like how its treated. im not gonna lie and say i've gone out of my way to pick pups over other DD's. but, again, it must be my natural bad player evasion skill cause the few pups i've partied with have been no hinderence what-so-ever. i've had one as a first voker when my nin was rising and most recently i partied with one in bibiky bay that was able to MB every SC we made (he was the party leader so im glad he took the roll that far to many dont). its not the job thats bad. its the players that control them.

Your friend has DRG and PUP to 75 and you say he's miserable? I must say I'm completley amazed. Why could he possibly be miserable?

I'm gonna go trade my Subaru in for a nice Kia now.

This is why you make friends and exp with them. Don't level a clearly unwanted job and then whine that you're not wanted.

A great pup can still be outdamaged by a Wal-Mart mnk and AH sam. If people are making a party and see a pup they don't know and, say, a warrior they don't know, they're going to invite the warrior because even if he has mediocre gear he's still not a total waste.

I had an awesome party with a PUP the other day. Wierd party setup, but it worked. I solo tanked Dhamels on WAR and of course had issues doing it, about 1 time a fight that PUP would drop a Cure V on me. It really made up for the lack of support jobs we had. I think it was Galkor.

When the best someone who is pushing the PUP cause can come up with is "they're no hindrance whatsoever" or "was able to MB every skillchain", then maybe there is an issue with their performance. I don't Merit too often, but BLMs have a lot of trouble getting Merit Parties too, and they can MB as well...

Bolded for truth

Being a 75 DRG I had to make the majority of my parties. At around the 60's I found a few friends to party with (DRK and BLM) and considering the party was always half made it made getting the mage/tanks our only priority. We had amazing parties for the shear fact it was with friends, and we were all moderately to well equiped. We would do like 400-500 Wheeling thrust>1200 SATA Spinning Slash>1200 Light>1000-1500 MBs. We continuously chained 5 never had much down time and made good exp while doing this.

I forget who said this but find people to party with and you wont be in such a shitty situation. Find someone leveling BRD or RDM (post 40 with RDM) and static with them. A friend of mine leveled BST through parties because his brother was staticing with him on BRD and he got to 60 in about 2-3 weeks.

Also if he is miserable about people not wanting to party with his jobs then he should just level a different job. Hell both DRG and PUP can solo/duo if you have a mage sub leveled. Once my BLU/WHM both are 37 I'm going to completely retire my DRG from parties (Zomg no <,<) since I can duo with friends and get merits instead of sitting around waiting for parties to find me.

Solan had some really good points. I'm a 75 DRG as well, and thanks to my Wyrm Armet, my DRG almost NEVER sees a party, if I party, it's on DRK or SAM, which isn't often. Soloing is fun, and gets a decent yield of exp/merits. And for christ's sake, make a damn party if yer not getting invited. We've been saying this since the beginning of FF time! Yer not getting invites? Make a party. It makes life easier. Sure they don't always get off the ground, but you'd be suprised how many people are willing to give you a shot, if you make the party.

You can only do so much as far as the public view is concerned, whether it's just our server or not, we have some pretty shitty PUPs. I have yet to party with a capable one. My last experience with one, his H2H didn't leave a mark on the mob, and his puppet itself didn't seem to have the skills required to do okay damage. That, coupled with poor sub choices was pretty bad. I personally will not invite a PUP over another capable job, because my experience with them is piss poor. Show me a well equipped PUP, doing damage like the ones in the parses I've seen on BG, and we'll talk.

It's because the majority of PUPs cannot satisfactorily fill the party role for which they are invited as well as other jobs. Sadly, on paper they start a notch below said other jobs so it takes you know... actual effort to bring a PUP up to scratch - and well, people are lazy.

Though I would still party with certain super-awesome PUP friends... if they'd ever invite me :\

well he could have just AFK melee'd (like many popular DD jobs do) and leeched off the efforts of others. but he didnt he contributed like a party member should. he wasnt trying to outshine anyone or trying to prove any huge point to make the world a better place for puppetmasters. he knew his limits and worked within them to the best of his ability. and the party was outstanding.

so i'll say it again: its not the job, its the player controlling them.

I staticed with Brightblade throughtout my 60's one of the best PUP's I've ever had the pleasure to level with, he put great effort into his job and could match the damage of many DD's. I think people are somewhat close-minded at times about non-cookie cutter jobs, if it aint WAR/NIN or SAM its not considered a worthy DD job by many it seems.

I felt this occasionally as Dark Knight too, all it takes is a few bad players or a poor understanding of the job to alter a potental party's opinion of your contrbution to a team.
