Multi-Plat Dragon Age 2 Release Date

Well I finally got Dragon Age: Origins so I'm playing through that anyways XD but this is prolly gonna be out well after I'm done. It sucks they're... "streamlining" it down to crap. They should really take a note from Deus Ex when their second game in the series tried to remove RPG elements and stuff, it pissed people off and took away what made the first awesome :( sounds like what's going to happen here. Though, to be fair, I've never been a huge fan of the combat aspect of Bioware's games compared to others so if they get that to be even better, great. I'm not sure why though. Because I don't see it much different from some other games I do enjoy. I do enjoy their stories though. They are top notch at that. As well as character customization.

The little gamesradar thing says it isn't like God of War in reality, that it just starts sorta that way cause of an over grandiose story telling from some characters :P and that the rest is hard as hell and, while yes the fights are a bit more cinematic, the need to pause and issue commands is there. If that's the case, neat.

I'd rather be able to throw down and kill shit-loads of Darkspawn at once, as opposed to picking off small groups one by one. Small groups of your main antagonists don't exactly make it feel like they're much of a threat.

Do you play this on console or PC, because on PC they come all at once, not in small groups like they do on the console. That's what I liked about the PC version it's a lot harder and requires a lot more strategy. The strategy is what makes the battles fun, you can't just run in an try and wreck shop on everything coming or you'll die.

Hack and slash to me is boring.

And this is what the gamesradar said:

With our skills mapped to our face buttons, we were able to tear through a few weak waves of darkspawn with little difficulty, using a whirlwind and knock back attack to keep enemies at bay. Then the ogres came. These giant beasts were quite fearsome in Origins. Even though some battles felt frustrating in the original game, we loved the unforgiving difficulty level. So we were actually a little disappointed to see Hawke tear through the towering titans without breaking a sweat. Dragon Age shouldn’t feel like God of War!"

If anyone hasn't played Origins on PC, they really should to see just how much they're taking out the game.

Actually, even on the PC you can make them come in small waves as well. There are only handful of occasions where you have to face more than 6 mobs at a time.

Frankly, by mid-game on Dragon Age, I was basically ripping through anything that didn't have an Overwhelm attack like it wasn't there on my rogue, and pretty much ignoring the hordes of pissant mobs beating on me when I ran a tank.

Don't even get me started on how broken it was playing a mage.

The game wasn't hard by any stretch of the imagination.

How about hard in the sense that every other game these days are retardedly easy? :D

Demon's Souls
Singularity
Crystal Defenders

I'll give you Demon's Souls, but not Crystal Defenders and I haven't played Singularity so I can't say :O still, most games these days are easy as hell

I never said this game was insanely hard, I said it was harder on PC than console. Nightmare on console is barely harder than normal on PC IMHO. You have to use strategy more on the PC. I think the game provides a good challenge when played on Nightmare.

The only job that I played that I thought was just an easy walk through of the game was Arcane Warrior/Blood Mage, that job is ridiculously overpowered and when I threw battlemage with it on Awakenings along with some of that OP gear in that game, I just got ever more ridiculous. You could probably solo both games on Nightmare on that job. If I could do the High Dragon, I can't see anything else in the game stopping me.

Most games I play now I pay once on normal the first time through, then I just play on the highest level. I won;t play Mass Effect 2 on anything but Insanity.

Bump because we're nearly a month away.

Hoping PC version doesn't have the memory leak problem that DA:O and DA:A had because of patch 1.3 that have persisted even through 1.4

Look familiar?

I'm excited for this, but I'm a little disappointed in the over-the-top action-movie style approach they went with for the combat. I prefer the "realistic" fantasy style of the first one. Something about the rogue ninja-jumping all over the place, spin-kicking stun bombs and teleporting behind mobs in a flash of smoke feels out of place. I'm also going to miss those skills like Coercion, Survival, Herbology, etc...

Maybe its just my resistance to fixing things I didn't think were broke, but I'm keeping my preorder anyway. Hopefully I'll get over it as I play through it.

Fuck yeah thanks for the link. Going to play this after dinner.

I wasn't blown away by the demo. All the flipping, jumping around, rolling on the ground, butterfly twists mid attack was just way over the top combat for me, felt like I was playing an action game. It seemed like you had an unlimited mana/stamina supply I never once got close to using half in a fight as a mage or a melee, even in the last fight of th edemo which was a decent length. The combat in DAO could be slow at time, and your stamina/mana drained quickly at times, but they went all the way to the other end of the spectrum here, and I didn't really think it fit.

I didn't like the way they made the darkspawn look this game either, they went from monsters to skeletons with hoods and hats on.

I already pre-ordered, but even if I hadn't Bioware has earned enough credit with me that I'm still looking forward to the game, but the demo didn't really do it for me.

Anyone know how the items are credited for use?

I recall an interview in gameinformer last year that said that you may not be fighting darkspawn this time, necessarily. I know I have the issue somewhere, but I really do recall that being said.

They were darkspawn, and they looked A LOT different, but there were a lot of things that looked at different lol, drastically different.

BUT The story is being told by someone else so this may be their image of things. I'll write it off to that.

But the combat being over the top action game ish was my main thing. Also I don't see how Andres is in the game, it makes no sense when put up against your Awakenings epilogue. Also given the fact that you can import a game where he's dead.

You have to remember this is bioware. The reaction could be based on decisions made in Awakening.

On one of the loading screens I noticed it said that Warriors gain stamina back when they kill mobs, rogues when they hit mobs, and I don't remember what the Mage was...but they all have some kind of stamina/mana regen in battle. So that is why you weren't running out.
