So I'm finally partway into my goal of taking down this geezer as DRG instead of RDM (I've had it with that fight ><). Anyway, has anyone attempted this fight after the new 2hr came into play? Perhaps any advice for a fellow DRG looking to ensure a decent shot at victory?

As I recall, an old method was to sleep to 100 tp, penta his wyvern down in one shot, then use a wing to get 100 again, nail Maat with penta, and super jump, letting your wyvern play with him for a bit while you get out of range and use a healing item (vile elixir etc...) and go back in to finish him off.

I'd hate to waste my time on an old method if it's no longer useful since the new 2hr is a force to be reckoned with in the right situations :P

Any advice is well appreciated, thanks for your time ^^

Eh, I've heard it can be fairly tough to take down Maat as a DRG, but a buddy of mine did that exact technique (or something close to it) and said he took Maat down with ease. I use to have a FRAPS file of it...but I'm not sure if I have it anymore... I'd try doing that technique first, I'm sure it'll work out fine if you bring along some healing items and stay on your toes. I'll try and find that file in the meantime.

From a video I watched, and to some other threads I've read.

Sleep til 300% TP
2 hour.
Jump.
Penta.
TP Wing.
Penta.

And you should've won by then O_o. Some people Penta Thrust first and melee with Maat for a while before building up to 100% TP again then 2 houring. It's useful because when you 2 hour you get healed anyway ^_^

I don't know if its true or not...but when you 2 hour do you get your wyverns TP? I've only 2 houred once as a DRG and I noticed my TP jumped a ton, but it was a pretty hectic situation so maybe I just didn't miss and thus preceieved it as a random TP gain...

If you do get your wyverns TP I would say just 2 hour after the wyvern is dead and you are lower on HP. May keep you from using a wing at all...

Ok I did maat on DRG last week and got the record of 4 mins 13 seconds on my first attempt, 3 and 1/2 mins of which was preparing.

Any DRG should be able to take this guy down 1/1.

The new two hour has made this fight even easier than it was before, forget killing the wyvern, maat won't survive for more than 45 seconds.

Sleep to 100%, 300% isn't nessecary, @100% my penta did 660.

Bring attack food, or if you're not sure acc food, I used attack, DO NOT USE DEFENCE FOOD, you can't out tank him.

you may bring a blink band if you want, i brought one but forgot to use it, so it's by no means nessecary either.

Bring an Icarus wing.

I used zero potions, not a one.

Unequip all gear before entering to honour the old superstition.

And finally save your 2 hour to cure you for 800+.

My fight went like this,
Slept to 100%, used food, equiped gear, ran in to face up to him.
I engaged him and immediately used penta for 660.
i then popped my icarus wing and threw out another penta for 600.
He was down to less than 1/3rd health after 15-20 seconds, i popped my hour and recovered about 700 hp to full, my tp shot up to 70ish and i thought one more penta and he's toast.
In actuallity i never got to use that last penta because my Jump and High Jump killed him outright, I finished the fight with 70% HP and 110 TP in 4 mins 13 seconds.

Honestly DRG maat is a joke, don't sweat it Gatt, I nearly pissed myself running into the circle and it was over in a flash with maat left crying.

Just Don't panic and he's cake, If you have insanely bad luck and he somehow manages to asuran fists you in the first few seconds, hit your 2 hr and full cure.

But like I said the new 2 hour makes this guy insanely easy, so don't sweat it.

What I did:

Items used:
8 hi-pots
1 blink band
1 fish chiefkabob
3 sleep pots
opo-necklace

Slept to 75% TP, used blink band and food, ran in and engaged. When I reached 100% TP he called his wyvern, switched target to his wyvern and penta'd it for a one shot kill. Switch target back to maat, jump, high jump, super jump. Let your wyvern tank it alittle and soon after, engage. Build TP to 100% and penta again for the win. Start using hi-pots at around 800HP.

Though with the new 2hr, new, easier strategies could be developed.
Icarus Wing, vile elixer, too weak! ;D

1/1 on maat, PM me if you would like to see a video of this demonstration

yea that's pretty much exactly how it had to be done pre update, and your advice in that aspect is flawless, but speaking from my own personal post update experience the method I desrcibed above is quicker, cheaper and involes very little risk.

The new 2 hour makes this a walk in the park, and any pre update strategies are just ever so slightly irrelevant now, sure they could still work, but it's making things more complicated than they need to be.

I almost wish I'd had a chance to fight him pre update as I found this fight to be enormously dissapointing after all the maat hype.

What do you mean by "sleep to 1oo%"?

Use a sleeping potion combined with an Opo-Opo Necklace. The effect of the necklance is that it raises TP as you're asleep.

Thank you for your input everyone, I had a feeling I'd wake up and see exactly what I wanted to read ^^

I'm curious though, what lvl is everyone doing this fight at? After reading all these responses, I'm thinking of giving him a shot right now at 66 XD

I did basically what eleib did. Sleep to 75%, run in, beat him til call wyvern, penta wyvern, icarus wing, penta, jumps, and penta, and he was dead in I thik it was close to 3:50 at the time. may have been 4 even

long time ago... 2 years ago rofl
strategy was Call Wyvern, Sleep for 75%TP, enter hit 3-4 times, penta trust.
Maat calls his wyvern.
Icarus wing, penta trust his wyvern[should die] and switch fast to maat so that wyvern uses breath on maat. jumps and super jump.
watch wyvern defeat maat.

Should be a lot easier now.

If you use Weaponskills from your menu on a seperate target, does the wyvern breath the target you're actually meleeing, or the one you weaponskilled?

Wyvern's target will not change.

I did Penta Thrust from the menu without changing targets.

Finally, my struggle is over, and the long steak of failures against this old geezer has turned around ^^

Thank you everyone here for your advice, it went without a hitch a few minutes ago. /cheer ^^

Special thanks to my ls/friends who helped me out with the test and lent me certain items to do this fight since I was broke ^^;

Edit: I just had to put this here

"I've got a ToD on DRG Maat, it was about 4:35pm EST XD" - the lsmes I put up after the fight :P
