DRK 6-hit setup

*cough*MPsponge*cough*

Seriously though <.< if I go /sam I get beat up too much for it to be worth it

not really siegon full time blocks ~60% of attacks on average where /nin for non-evasive jobs like drk on average is blocking ~75% attacks I've found from numerous parses of many many people. I used to feel I was a mp sponge as /sam but my mind has been changed after looking carefully at parses that can keep track of how effective the subs are defensively. where /sam becomes an mp sponge is when people try using hasso a lot. if you want I can post a number of parses showing this but will take me a bit to SS them and find ones where I remember everyone's jobs.

On top of that, it can stop multihit moves and only take a single shadow, which is always nice.

Most of the damage you take when subbing sam on drk can be heal by our own drain spells too when used effectively.

Well I'll need to try out full time seigan sometime then. Anyone wanna set a meripo up this week? :)

ok here's some parses and what I remembered as %s were a little off, more like 80% and 65% but of course if one person is doing all the damage and taking all the hate their %s tend to be lower due to recast timers ect.

parse6-6-08.jpg

here you can see me using seigan most of the time and blocking most attacks well taisa used hasso most of the time and took significantly more damage

parse6-2-08.jpg

here you can see the ultimate mp sponge of /war, also see lilioh blocking less than 80% of attacks with shadows as war/nin

parse6-1-08.jpg

here you can see once more the difference that using seigan all the time vs hasso most of the time by looking at me vs araelus

parse5-4-08.jpg

and here's a very old parse of me /nin

if you want more parses I have more

I think it's kinda funny your still owning the parse full timing seigan <,<

I'll agree that subbing sam and using seigan full time allows you to have a subjob that has offensive perks like meditate, store tp and zanshin, while mitigating dmg fairly well. Not as good as nin sub, but good enough. Only problem is atleast 75% of the fools out there are gonna stare themselves blind at that Hasso-button.

Yeah, honestly, that's why I never merit with /sam DD anymore...every time a ???/SAM has givin me the line "Don't worry, I won't sponge MP, I have Seigan". Those kinds of DD's have generally become the DD's that sponge more MP than anyone else.....so I generally default to /nin or GTFO. My SAM is LVL.6 currently. And honestly, I'm in no rush to level it. I have /war and /nin. I'm happy with that for now.

I think you're being a bit too one sided. You took considerably more damage than anyone /NIN and I can be assured you were tanking far less since you didn't have NIN or voke, probably even tried to avoid hate if possible as well. You also have the added benefit of shedding hate with High and Super jump so you can avoid tanking which is something Taisa didn't have access to (she was DRK?). If anything, a party with one /NIN and multiple /SAM will end up burdening the exp/hr simply because you don't have enough shadows to spam. If you're fighting a slow attacking mob, this might be possible, but puks, mamools (MNK+NIN in that mix) and colibri certainly don't attack slow.

Side Note: Can't use drain easily on Colibri unless its the kill shot because of reflect.

Actually taisa is a he and was also a drg. Though drg not his main, so it nowhere near as well geared as jakey is, but he not gimp either.

taisa was drg/sam

and I usually try to tank especially when /nin, the only times I super jump is when I'm near death or when subbing war and I penta at start of fight. I figure if I'm going to have utsustemi I better be at least doing my fair share of the tanking.

the PT where I was /nin dragod was voking on his war I believe and the other 2 DDs were mnks, if you look closely you see that I abdorbed a very reasonable 85% of attacks with /nin and average damage per hit I took also was lowest in the PT yet I took the most damage therefor I was tanking a very significant amount of the PT.

I'm not saying /sam is always better than /nin or anything like that simply that it can be done very viably for 2handers in many merit PTs without being too bad of an mp sponge.

Here is the tests I ran today DRK/SAM with 6 Store TP from Brutal Earring and Rajas.

With Perdu:

21 WS
16 1 Hit
17 2 Hit
16 3 Hit
16 4 Hit
17 5 Hit

103 TP

With Tred:

21 WS
17 1 Hit
17 2 Hit
18 3 Hit
17 4 Hit
18 5 Hit

108 TP

I'd like to parse against Jakey. Overall, I'd say I'm a well geared DRK.

My core gear
Brutal Earring
Abyssal Earring
Rajas Ring
Ulthalam's Ring
Chivalrous Chain
Pole Grip
Amemet Mantle +1
Bomb Core
Black Gadlings

TP build
Homam Zucchetto
Homam Cosciales
Homam Gambieras
Swift Belt
Hauberk

WS build
Wyvern Helm
Black Cuisses
Black Sollerets
Potent Belt
Plastron

I have the three most popular subs for DRK (WAR, SAM, NIN) we can merit up on some Colibri or whatever works for you. Use comporable subs I'd suggest. Just let me know it could be interesting.

I think you will be very let down parsing against a pimped out DRG on Colibri.

Eh, he'd keep up fine in that gear. Just wait till he hits, then absorb-tp! Jk lol, but you'd do fine.

Why do you ws in wyvern helm o,O

Why not? Better then AF1 helm. I don't have Hecatomb.

You could also use Ohat. Looks like you are going to be lacking accuracy if eating meat and dropping the berk for Plastron. This is assuming you are using meat and fighting Mamool.

I eat sushi. And I'm very anti O-hat. It is fugly. Sorry it has to be said >.<
