Drk Af (gear discussion)

does it ignore your cap of scythe skill?

Yes. Example Natural cap is 276 +16 from merits +5 from abyssal +7 from torque gets you 304 skill.

I guess this means I'll have to go find a 1337 salesman for my Bone +1 /sigh.

Last 2 sold 9 & 10k.

If you're willing to part with 'em for that price, pm me on QCDN.

First one to reply, sold.

In-game not count. ;p

My DRK 2lvs away from this. ^^b

Not when you end up using sushi in parties and have over 35 accuracy from other gears. There comes a point when you have too much accuracy, I reached that point when I leveled Dark Knight this time.

There's also the whole possibility of having a lot of acc gear and popping attack food since in many cases it can go much, much further than wearing attack gear and popping acc food. =P

Just get a Chivalrous Chain at 60, it's the next best option. You don't need a PCC to be a good melee.

There's also the Smart Grenade if you don't want to pay for Tiphia Sting.

Not touching the food choice or PCC argument for the time being, but I'll gladly pull some old info up for you if you want.

Hey thats what my PCA is for.

But in the 50s and early 60s I found myself being forced to use sushi because of what we fought.

I'm thinking she probably meant merit lvls in which case PCC would probably beat out the torque unless you are (meaning everyone in general) for some weird reason eating sushi as a 2 Hander.

Few comments.

1. Haste is not overrated. In many cases (Blitz Ring is not one of them!) simply will allow you to gain TP faster with little loss to acc and/or attack. Homam is very sexy in my opinion for any job that can equip it; however, you do lose out on a good chunk of attack you get from other items for a good amount of accuracy and haste. DRK does get some attack bonus traits, access to many good attack pieces (ranged, earring, neck, etc.) and with two handed weapons, you can eat meat with enough accuracy so they can make up for the loss. Not really directed at OP, but more one of the comments afterwords.

2. PCC is sweet. And by sweet, I mean totally awesome. I leveled DRK this week for a subjob and when I dinged 33 to equip the PCC, it was just amazing the difference in accuracy. Before, it was a swing and a miss quite often, but after, it was a whole new game. I was getting near perfect sushi like accuracy while eatting meat. I'm not going to breath down anyone's neck and tell them to get it, nor will I call you gimp for not getting it, but I will say it's by far and away one of the best items available for any melee. I would highly recommend taking your time to get one and with most of the BCNMs lacking any real money drops, any BC you do will not net much cash so might as well go for something you need. Don't waste your time on Kraken Club BCNM either, it's a shot in the dark at a ton of gil, but unless you need the club or have everything else in the way of money upgrades, it's not worth the 60 seals for a 30k payout.

3. /WAR /THF /SAM and /NIN are all decent choices, each with it's own benefits and losses. If you can afford to, go /SAM for pure damage or possibly WAR pre-seigan(it's seigan right?) levels. /THF is ok, but in my opinion, it's antquated. With most parties being constant fights, one after the other, you will get very little down time to allow SA+TA timers to reset and/or have to wait on TP to stack with them. Just go with another job to relieve that "burden". /NIN is my least favorite for damage, but it also is my favorite as mage. You'll mitigate a large portion of damage dealt to you saving the party from good chunks of down time in process netting more experience. For me, I'd say its a toss up between SAM and NIN, but it depends on how long you plan on holding hate or the mob lives when you get hate.

4. I didn't see it or may have missed it, but do you have a WS set? I'd consider working on a WS set to maximize your damage. At later levels, AF+1, Hecatomb, black cuisses set and various other assorted pieces will be great for that. Not sure about your current level, don't have access to wiki atm, so others may be able to comment more appropriately.

5. Most of your gear choices seem rather good, I would recommend listening to Etch and Tyrath, they know what they're talking about.

The only real change back at the 34-50 levels, I would swap my +3 DEX rings for +3 STR, helped a bit. But as of now. I'm just ACC and ATT+ build. I plan to get there. So far though, I've been getting a lot more parties since I hit 50. Kinda glad. Going for 60/61 today. Anyone wanna party?! :) lol

Lmao... I moved it out of Good Times because it is full of general game discussion/mechanics...

Outside of haste+% gear and acc rings on non multi-hit WS, I'd imagine most of what you use for WS is pretty much what you TP in.

Um, what dex+ ring?

Deft Rings. The +3 Dex at 34 or whatever? I had that until I bought my 2 woodsman rings.

You kids are spoiled these days. You should've tried levelling drk back when 2h weapons sucked, there was no such thing as sushi or swift belts or other good acc gear, people actually expected you to sata Spinning Slash on the tank, and there was more xp tnl. Uphill both ways, in the snow, etc.
