Drug Propaganda Video

Some people need to be reminded that this is a forum full of children and using big words and posting untranslated doctors geek speak does not get your point across to the ill-advised, easily influenced, lemming like children here.

If your trying to establish a Drug-Arm (Ohhh drug awareness for you big word junkies) program, or simply trying to spread around knowledge about a subject you should remember your target audience and who needs to read it.

Unless of course your just looking for a pat on the back for being able to rap in the geek speak.

I always end up cleaning my house when I'm high.

I think the myth is perpetuated by the fact no one wants to go outside when they are high because...

THAT'S WHERE THE FUCKING POLICE ARE.

Hilarious, and so true.

We ventured outside one time baked: to see our roommate in her musical at college.

While it did make "the Secret Garden" bearable, being "eyed" by the security guards on the way in sucked.

I've never had a problem going out in public high on pot...other drugs a different story. Anyways, other than the fact that I like to move as little as possible, it doesn't really bother me, it's not like anyone can notice anything drastically different. If I pass another pothead they might notice, but anyone else would probably just think I'm tired if they thought anything at all. One thing I realized a few years ago though is that no one out in the world really pays attention to what everyone else is doing, unless they're a cop or security or something. Shit I was high around my parents almost every day for over two years and they never suspected anything.

Ok, give me the part of the source that says what you said.

I'd be interested in seeing that too, since Captain Accuracy originally said, "Actually, for each year older an individual is before trying marijuana, their risk for using heroin decreases by 93%."

When prompted to show the source, the source mentions a small sample, in a single city (Atlanta - might as well be Peoria, lol), regarding a drug not even in question.

Fact is, it's not 93% across the board. Not even close. Not sure why it was initially presented as such, besides more fucking spin. It's 93% in a cross-section of users that would already be voted most likely to ramp up to heroin in the first place. "Scientific research" articles/journals such as the above do nothing but waste everyone's time. They are completely worthless.

I've never had a problem going out in public high on pot...

Oh, that's just cause you've never been arrested while you were high.

If I pass another pothead they might notice, but anyone else would probably just think I'm tired if they thought anything at all.

With the pothead being such a common thing in the world today a lot of people know what it looks like to see someone high, because a lot of families have that black sheep pothead (or 10-11 of em in my case).

One thing I realized a few years ago though is that no one out in the world really pays attention to what everyone else is doing, unless they're a cop or security or something. Shit I was high around my parents almost every day for over two years and they never suspected anything.

You'd be suprised. A lot of people just don't care, or know it's not their place to say something to you, or simply don't have the audacity.

Ok, give me the part of the source that says what you said.

Alcohol, marijuana, and ecstasy use do not have the same effects on heroin use as they did on cocaine and methamphetamine use among our respondents. Only marijuana use has a significant effect on heroin use. For each year older an individual is before trying marijuana, their risk for using heroin decreases by 93%. Neither the onset of ecstasy use nor the onset of alcohol use has a significant effect on the onset of heroin use.

If you want me to break the article down into forum level I can do that, and I can give more sources and research, but there's no point if people are going to sit back and use their own untrained opinions as to what is and isn't a fatal flaw in a study. It would be pointless for me to try to argue that your fund of knowledge is outdated or incorrect if you're not interested in updating it past 1950. These are reviewed journals, and the database I ripped this from scours journals and re-reviews them. If it shows up on my radar, it's been checked twice for fatal flaws by trained people who wouldn't flinch to burn an article. This is what I'm paid to do; all you have to do is ask. I know the flaws of the study. All you have to do is ask since I realize that these things are stupidly and pointlessly dense.

93 percent is so high because there is about a 3 year window of "vulnerability" in which maturation moves incredibly fast. One year to a 12 year-old is a long time; they undergo a lot of change over one year. Delaying use by one year in a young person is, on the average, a big deal. Logically and actually. The study doesn't show that mj use causes heroin use. You'd have to follow people forward as kids. It's an impossible study, both in the ability to keep track of people and kids are hard to get approval for to follow forward, because studying them might mess them up. The best we can do is prove a correlation between early mj use and increased risk of heroin use, which this study did.

If you're looking for a study to prove that it's the marijuana that leads to heroin use, you're not going to find it just like you're not going to find studies proving that it doesn't lead to heroin use. But if you're refuting the fact that marijuana use increases your risk to use heroin and cocaine, the data is stacked against you.

The data isn't wrong. It's been checked and rechecked. If you tell me when you first started using alcohol, mj, and/or e, I can put you on these graphs and tell you what risk you had/have of using meth, cocaine, and heroin given your current age, with the stipulation that the study isn't a perfect correlation to you, but compared to just talking out your rear, it's certainly better.

Yeah, sure, but I'd rather you help me unpack than bring cookies. I just got a new house with 2 of the other black sheep in my family and I'm about tired of moving shit and packing.

I can do that and I'll still bring cookies :P

Oh, I didn't see the italics before, I must take those words (which have no source listed or even an author) as rock solid fact.

If you want me to break the article down into forum level I can do that, and I can give more sources and research,

You have to give 1 before you can give more.

Did you think I put those links there to reference as a knowledge base? Those were to laugh at because of how outdated they were. I guess you missed the joke.

The opinions of experts and doctors in reguards to laws are bought and sold in this country. They do what they are paid to do. Furthermore, you'll find that degree you may or may not have is of little value in an online discussion. First off, the only reason anyone has to believe you have any sort of training is because you keep reminding us. I have no more reason to believe you are a doctor than you have to believe I am an astronaught. And no, I am not asking you to prove you are a proffesional. I'm asking you to give me a source for an extremely outlandish ans wildly apocryphal.

So the earlier you smoke pot in life, the more likely it is to lead to heroin use. That is a classic case of cause and effect.

If you're looking for a study to prove that it's the marijuana that leads to heroin use, you're not going to find it just like you're not going to find studies proving that it doesn't lead to heroin use. But if you're refuting the fact that marijuana use increases your risk to use heroin and cocaine, the data is stacked against you.[./quote]

What your study does not account for could fill a book. Heroin is bad shit, and a lot of people already have serious problems by the time they start using harder drugs.

The data isn't wrong. It's been checked and rechecked. I first got drunk when I was 15. I have only been drunk 7 times in my life. I first smoked pot when I was 17. I took ecstasy 1 time and didn't like it when I was 22. I am 26. I'll go ahead and tell you I haven't the slightest interest in trying meth cocain or heroin, so ther eis a 0% chance of me ever trying it. I would however like to try Mescaline. Other than that, I'm done experimenting.

Other drugs I have done would include:

DXM - age 17-18, did it 100+ times
LSD - age 19-present Did it once for about a year then only sporadiclly since then. The limiting factor is availability.
Dyphenhydramine - Age 18 did it once, will never do it again.
Dramamine - Age 18 did it once, will never do it again.
DMT (smoked)- age 20, only seen it once in my life, it was fun and I would probably do it again.
Opium (Smoked) - age 21 the first time. I usually get some for my birthday.
Psilocybin mushrooms - age 21 the first time and whenever I can both afford them and find them, which isn't often.
Salvia divinorum - Age 25, tried it, didn't like it, won't do it again.

I have also taken morphine (orally) as well as valium and xanax for recreational use, but very sporadically. Now go ahead and tell me how I don't fit your studies or how my behavoir is uncommon because you read a study in a medical journal that you have yet to cite or name that says otherwise.

I can do that and I'll still bring cookies :P

I am partial to no bake chocolate oatmeal cookies.

2 cups sugar
1 stick butter (1/2 cup)
1/2 cup Pet milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 tablespoons cocoa
3/4 cup peanut butter
3 cups oats

Combine all ingredients except peanut butter and oats in a saucepan and cook over medium heat. Boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter and oats.

Spoon out quickly onto wax paper or aluminum foil. Cookies will harden as they set. If you don't boil it long enough they won't set up, if you cook em too long, they will taste burnt.

So. Next weekend?

(which have no source listed or even an author)
I already told you both the source and the author.
Those were to laugh at because of how outdated they were.

No it wasn't. The joke was more aimed at your strawmen who still believe them today.

So the earlier you smoke pot in life, the more likely it is to lead to heroin use. That is a classic case of cause and effect.
No. That's a classic case of correlation and risk identification. You can't prove causality with this type of study.

But if you're refuting the fact that marijuana use increases your risk to use heroin and cocaine, the data is stacked against you.
You must have missed that part like you missed the cited source.

What your study does not account for could fill a book.
I have those too if you want them. You know...if you happened to want to know something about drugs.

Opium, morphine...tell me how I don't fit your studies or how my behavoir is uncommon because you read a study in a medical journal that you have yet to cite or name that says otherwise.

Narcotics. You knocked on heroin's door and ran away. That's close enough for me; I find it very intriguing that there is a correlation between young mj use and narcotics in the literature. It's not there with alcohol. It's not there with ecstasy. It's not there with smoking. We have no idea why it's there, but there you are confirming it. You think that because you didn't stick the needle in your arm that you won something? Lol ok. But the study predicted your behavior more than I expected.

And I already cited it :nono:
Do you want more?

Actually, for each year older an individual is before trying marijuana, their risk for using heroin decreases by 93%.

Reid LW, Elifson KW, Sterk CE. Ecstasy and gateway drugs: initiating the use of ecstasy and other drugs. Annals of Epidemiology. Volume 17, Issue 1, January 2007, Pages 74-80

PURPOSE: The main purposes of this study are to examine whether and to what extent ecstasy use serves as a gateway to the use of such hard drugs as cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine and compare ages of onset of alcohol and marijuana use and subsequent use of cocaine, heroin, and methamphetamine among young adult ecstasy users. METHODS: Face-to-face surveys were conducted with 268 young adult ecstasy users in Atlanta, GA. Subjects were solicited by using the community identification process, including targeted sampling and guided recruitment. Data analysis involved discrete-time event-history analysis. RESULTS: Results suggest that age of onset of ecstasy use influences the initiation of cocaine and methamphetamine use for our sample of active ecstasy users. In addition, alcohol and marijuana use precedes the initiation of cocaine and methamphetamine use, but only marijuana use influences the initiation of heroin use. CONCLUSIONS: The sequential progression of drug use proposed in the gateway literature is not immutable. Researchers must take into account the changing popularity of drugs over time, such as the emergence of ecstasy use, when identifying patterns of drug-use onset.

This is the public abstract, I could probably send you the full article.

I already told you both the source and the author.

You gave me a source and an author, yes, it just had absolutly nothing to do with your original statement.

No it wasn't. The joke was more aimed at your strawmen who still believe them today.

Says the guy who didn't get the joke.

No. That's a classic case of correlation and risk identification. You can't prove causality with this type of study.

Then it's a classic case of bullshit, which isn't suprising coming from a bullshit artist like you.

You must have missed that part like you missed the cited source.

This is you responding to something you said. I'll assume it was misquoted.

I have those too if you want them. You know...if you happened to want to know something about drugs.

No thanks, I already have enough to fill a small bookshelf. They are written by doctors who disagree with you.

It isn't there with alcohol and smoking because you don't get alcohol and cigarettes from a drug dealer. It's not there with ecstasy because the drugs are polar opposites. No one takes uppers and downers together as it is kinda pointless.

Of course, if you knew anything about drugs that wasn't written in a book by some other comlpetely clueless asshole, then you might realize that. It's a damn shame america is dependant on people like you who say guess work is "close enough" to justify all inhumane shit people like me have to go through because I like to smoke a little grass.

Stick with your rants on dynamis, Jersey, you don't know shit about this topic.

You gave me a source and an author, yes, it just had absolutly nothing to do with your original statement.

Sure it did. I told you I had the full article, and I told you that what I gave you was the abstract. Why are you so confused?

This is you responding to something you said. I'll assume you misquoted.
I know, and you still haven't addressed the clear correlation between mj use and risk of narcotics use. I'll assume you retract your opinion. If not, like I said. I can just go to the real bookshelf instead of some imaginary ones by imaginary doctors cited by drug users with big imaginations, especially when the studies they stumble around trying to discredit with absolutely nothing describe them almost freakishly too well.

While you have nothing to go on, I have more. Because you used mj and used it early, your risk of using sedatives, cocaine, narcotics, and hallucinogens doubled over your own twin living in the same house. You want to know what's worse? That your risk to become dependent on these harder substances TRIPLED. Go ahead, Trippy. Tell me what dependence means.

Your risk of having a first bipolar episode because you smoked weed at or before 17 quintupled, by the way.

It's not there with ecstasy because the drugs are polar opposites. No one takes uppers and downers together as it is kinda pointless.

No one said people take uppers and downers together, so you're basically running from the debate and arguing irrelevance. Irrelevance, by the way, at the level of a novice drug user. Uppers versus downers? What is this, 9th grade? I'm glad that you have a sense of which directions arrows can point, but fact of the matter is that e and mj have very similar social and cultural mechanics. Ecstasy is simply newer. A naive drug user overemphasizes what the drug actually does and ignores the social and cultural mechanics of it. How you view your high is half of your high. What the drug does is often less important than how society views it. Ecstasy is the 21st century mj. Kids don't want laid back these days. Get with the times, and you should know better than to consider ecstasy and marijuana as polar opposites. It's the next generation gateway drug. It's the teen rebel element. It's the common social drug. Information in the hands of people who can't wield it is dangerous, and you're pretty dangerous trying to point out that mj relaxes you and e revs you up, given the fact that teens use e for exactly the same reasons they used to use weed. Ecstasy discharges a lot of stress, because it enhances the nature that people use to discharge stress these days. The only difference is that it used to be more acceptable to inhibit activation to relieve stress. Now it is acceptable to encourage activation to do so. Back then you repressed it and made it go away with weed. Now you let it out and spend it all with ecstasy.

Stick with your rants on dynamis, Jersey, you don't know shit about this topic.

Give me whatever you're on. Wait. On second thought lol...don't. I wonder if bookshelves are a common hallucination on LSD.

It's a damn shame america is dependant on people like you who say guess work is "close enough" to justify all inhumane shit people like me have to go through because I like to smoke a little grass.

Don't piss in your own cheerios then complain that it tastes like drug metabolites. It's no one else's fault but your own. It's not the po-po's fault. It's not the Man's fault. It's not your elementary school teacher's fault. If you're being treated inhumanely, it's your fault. Government don't subsidize YOUR lifestyle, bud. Woe is me gets no sympathy.

I am not confused, I just know you are full of shit. You can't back up the statement you made with any study no matter how much you try.

I know, and you still haven't addressed the clear correlation between mj use and risk of narcotics use. I'll assume you retract your opinion. If not, like I said. I am saying the only correlation between mj and narcotics use is if the guy you buy your weed from happens to sell other things. That is it. you really shouldn't assume anything about my opinion because you have yet to grasp what I am saying.

No amount of sracasm and assanine remarks is going to make the things I say less true. You're just pissed off because i'm not an ignorant asshole that contridicts myself 3 times in the same paragraph like all your books tell you I should be. But insult me all you want, that doesn't make my info any less credible than yours. Fact of business, I'd say it is more credible as I'm not getting paid for my opinion, where as the sources you mentioned early were paid to have an opinion.

I didn't use it early actually. 17 is quite late to start smoking pot these days. Most people I know started around 12-13. Of course, I'm sure you have a study that says otherwise.

You know, 60% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

Your risk of having a first bipolar episode because you smoked weed at or before 17 quintupled, by the way.

Funny you should mention that. I take medication that is used to treat bi-polar disorders, however, that is not why I take it. I have been taking Carbamazepine (tegretol) since I was 13 for epilepsy. I suppose that dramaticlly reduces my risk, huh?

No one said people take uppers and downers together, so you're basically running from the debate and arguing irrelevance.

You did.

Irrelevance, by the way, at the level of a novice drug user. Uppers versus downers? What is this, 9th grade? You have no idea what you are talking about, and I feel sorry for anyone that accepts your word as factual. You just aren't worth talking to anymore.

Give me whatever you're on. Wait. On second thought lol...don't. I wonder if bookshelves are a common hallucination on LSD.

Much like you, I don't play anymore.

Someone arguing with a hippy about drugs?

LOL.

Fascinating factoid about the 60's: most of the TRUEST hippies, today, fall under these categories -

1. Dead

2. Rock stars

3. Highly successful businessmen

I always end up cleaning my house when I'm high.

I think the myth is perpetuated by the fact no one wants to go outside when they are high because...

THAT'S WHERE THE FUCKING POLICE ARE.

Actually I have had friends going outside high on weed and cops rolled right by. They can't do anything if you're just high, but they can do things if you're carrying a joint, a bowl, or carrying it on you. So unless cops are real dicks it probably doesn't matter. Of course marijuana dilates the pupils which means more light is taken in so the sun may hurt your eyes if you go out high. I don't know if that is true though because I have never been high, and never plan to be.
