wow it looks like they did a graphical overhaul, looks pretty damn good! And they have stressed several times in the feed, it IS coming out.
 
This ruins a perfectly good industry in-joke. I can't imagine this punchline will live up to expectations.

It's really funny that DNFs release hinged on one key element:

Someone that isn't 3D Realms doing the work.

Is it really a Duke Nukem game then? I'm really just expecting it'll pan out as some generic shooter that was already in the works just getting tweaked, or did Gearbox get ahold of whatever development documents 3D-Realms had before they went under?

Gearbox took what 3D Realms had and finished it.
 
Gearbox ftw eh? Gearbox seems to be a good company :) so far I haven't been disappointed with them :P

I was just checking /v/ and they made a sticky of the announcement, this was one post:

Doom was still Doom and Duke was still the Duke on the 64, the 64 was just lucky to get in on the action.

Also, before Xal comes in here begging me to go out with him again; I'm goin' to play this game and I'm probably goin' to kick a kick out of it.

not entirely true. The guy heading the project at gearbox was a member of 3d realms and helped create duke nukem 3d.
During the live show he also talked about the fact that instead of just picking up the game, he picked up several 3d realms developers that were the original hands at creating duke in the first place and put them on the team with gear box to get this thing rolling. Not sure exactly what they did on the project besides giving direction, but 3d realms had a hand in it as well.
The guy said he did all this as a way of giving something back to the game and people that got him started.
But of course the fact that its coming out and as soon as next year, is all gearbox haha.
