Well, i have cooking at 70 for a long time now. I never really looked into leveling a subcraft. Now i see all these recipes that have a subcraft listed right next to them. Is there a point to level subcrafting for those recipes?. Does it reduce break rate and improve HQ rate or it just means that i need that craft to make the mats needed for a specific recipe, for my main craft?

Basically you can take any number of other crafts to 60 without it degrading your main sub (cooking). If a recipe requires a sub craft then you'll need it, to craft it. Obviously, if your sub is capped (60) then you'll have better HQ rates, just like if your main craft is higher too.

Bare in mind i'm NOT a crafter.

If you want to break a HQ tier on a synth, you have to break it on all crafts involved. If you want tier 1 on a synth that takes Cooking 50 and Alchemy 20, you have to have 61+ cooking and 31+ alchemy.

Where a subcraft is listed, you need that subcraft at an appropriate level to even attempt the synth. Same as a L70 Smither will fail most of the time with a L79 synth, a L100 Smith with a L20 GS sub would still fail almost all af a L60Smith/L30GS Synth.

Both main and sub levels are required for synthing.
