Dynamis Losing steam?

The ONLY gear that a new member would have to wait that long for would be incredibly rare and desired gear from the northlands. Think RDM hat, PLD body, or THF hands. If they're only going to join a linkshell where they'll get the best of the best gear in a matter of weeks, they're idiots and are most likely going to ditch the shell after getting those items. Any of the city relic pieces that the new recruit is going to need are in all likelihood going to be cheap or free lot; so they'll be able to get several pieces(and for a lot of jobs, they're great pieces) for cheap/free. Yeah, they're totally getting screwed.

By coincidence, we had only one person lotting THF AF2 and only one person lotting RDM AF2 in Xarcabard last week...

Lol I have say my piece and don't really wish to keep re-literating on the same point.

What is your shell relic armor drop rate in Northlands? And yours Vilirium, what your shell Relic armor drop rate in Northlands?

Last Xarca run we had 11 drop (thats the record though). Last I looked Vil was in the same Dynamis Shell as me, albeit he runs on a different day.

And I'm sorry if you feel you have to reiterate your point over and over. I've reread your post on the last page, and I still have no idea what you were trying to say. Maybe you could give me a 2-line summary...

It's no greater than any other linkshell's drop rate. We're just the longest standing NA dynamis linkshell on the server so most of the people with the massive point totals(like myself) have most of the gear they want so the lines are shorter than in the newer linkshells.

I'm technically in the same shell but I've been on hiatus since July (combination of various factors: mostly RL related, and partly related to Dynamis - in its own right as a rather long and tedious event, and in relation to the jobs I have levelled). Even if the shell's rules worked otherwise, incidentally, I'd still have my own opinions of what rules work best, in a way that's unfair neither to newbies nor veterans. As it is, I don't think the shell's perfect: it could do with a bit of a rebalancing of northlands vs. city vs. CoP dynamis emphasis.

As far as I'm concerned, the best rules are the ones which don't screw over anyone but impatient item whores. (Patient item whores, however, can just snag stuff once nobody else wants it, and I have no problem with their cluttering their inventory with unwanted stuff.)

Hmm 2 sentence....
1) no system is a perfect system
2) people tend to be very realistic and what make new people continue to stay is devotion to the shell which will develop as they stay longer in the shell.

Lol. You could read my previous post.

Anyway i usually compare my shell drop rate to other shell drop rate and they alway seem to drop more than us in Northland. I suppose most of it luck... but do anyone have any theories? XD

The faster your kills, the more mobs that are killed overtime. More mobs killed = more chances at drops.

Its not rocket science. City mobs are quick and easy kills, so even some non-established shells can blitz through them and get plenty of kills which amounts to plenty of Relic.
Xarcabard doesn't allow for the same kill-speed, requires down-time in most cases for resting, and because of the difficulty of the mobs, the total kills is VASTLY lower than in cities.

The thing ive noticing is even if there a fare or not point system. It just takes too long to get anything from there. My pld af is pretty sweet and I do want it but saying im only able todo dynamis once a week. So this means @ this rate I can see it takin anywhere from 6 months to a year to get MOST of my af thats even if I ever get my valor body piece. I still seriously think since there are alot of other better alternatives that they should increase the drop rate some some af slightly saying that the drop rate still does kinda suck.

A year for a full set of a job's AF is a reasonable estimate, if not slightly low. Just from drop rates alone and a reasonable degree of competition (for stuff like DRK you can probably hope to get it faster on average; for stuff like RDM you can probably hope to get it slower on average). You shouldn't expect otherwise going into Dynamis.

Oh and... if the same shell runs twice a week and has a point system, make the points be accumulated and spent individually for the different days. That's really no hardship to anyone who comes both days, and it eliminates unfairness for people who can only come one day due to scheduling conflicts.

Took me two years, two times a week (or around 200 runs) to complete the RDM AF2. Most of that time the two shells I was in had random lotting. When I joined a shell with a points system it only took me 4 months to get the last two pieces I needed (hat and legs).

A lot of Xarca runs involve killing the minimum number of mobs, plus the 15 NMs, plus the Dynamis Lord. If this is your run, expect to only average 1-2 AF2 per run. The LSs that kill the most mobs get the most AF2.

yea apparently my shell and my friend shell, we don't have much difference in the mob killing but their 15 NM seem to drop more consistent for them than for us -.-

Most Xarca AF2 does not come from NMs...

Yeah, the NM's have the same drop rate as the normal mobs(maybe just slightly more but not enough to matter); so just killing more normal mobs would lead to a much greater chance at relic armor than killing the NM's.

Serious? i always heard that the NM drop rate for relic is higher than normal nob and it is job specific too.

The NM drops are definitely job specific. I don't think the droprate is any better than regular mobs. There's been a ton of times my shell hasn't gotten anything from the NMs. There was one time where we got about 5 AF drops from them, but I'd chalk that one up to luck.

I think they're sliiiiiightly higher than a given insert random scrub mob here, but there's certainly not very high in an absolute sense. Doubt any given NM has more than a 5% drop rate or so, and it's probably less.

Well from our observations in lolDynamis, the drop rate from *any* mob seems to be about 1-3%. Add in treasure hunter to these numbers, which by our best guess is a % of a %, so say TH4 increases drops by 50% that would increase that range to 1.5%-4.5%, so you should see a drop every 25-60 mobs, which is about accurate. So given that 15 different jobs could drop in that range, to see one of every AF, you'd hafta kill 638 mobs on average. That's a lot of xarcabard runs. That's not a lot of city runs. Add in that these are fully randomized, meaning that there's no account for the last mob to drop, the last type dropped. This gives a given job a 1:512 probability of any mob dropping your AF.

So if you think you're getting 5/5 in PLD RDM THF BLM anytime withing your first 6 months, you're delusional.

The drop rate is significantly higher for the NMs.

However, there are only 15NMs and Hundreds of normal mobs, meaning that most AF2 drops come from normal mobs.

That is of course provided your LS actually kills a lot of normal mobs. You can pretty well snipe the Extension triggers, kill the 15NMs and kill the DL, and hardly kill any normal mobs. LSs that do this (and it's pretty a pretty common plan) often don't get much AF2.

In our LS, we keep track of the # of drops and mob killed. Apparently the droprate on normal beastmen is relatively high (like 1/15). This means that, on average, you get 1 armor every 15 kill. Of course sometimes you get 10+ armor sometimes 1-2.

As for Xarcapard, we usually get at least one armor from the 15 NMs and 1 from normal farming. To give you an idea on how not so high the NM droprate is, we have had 2 assassin armlets in 23 runs.
