So I'm trying to farm some clusters of all types for my corsair alt (just hit 40 last week ^^). Anyways, I've been trying to figure out which areas are good to farm elementals for a PLD67/RDM33. SO far I've though of the following areas:

Light: Qufim
Dark: Xarcbard
Earth: easy, Tahrongi or the dunes
Water: easy, pashlow
Air: Tahrongi again
Fire: Eastern Altepa Desert or Meriphitaud
Ice: Xarcbard
Thunder: Qufim or Jugner

My only problem is the likeliness of weather (namely Qufim, darn you rare Aurora weather)

Any other suggestions on where to farm, or even better, which areas have said weather more frequently?

Thanks <(^_^)>

Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but can you trade in clusters for cards?

I'd say those areas seem to be pretty solid.

Light Crystals: Farm Tonberries - they drop em like flies.
Dark Crystals: Imps? get exp/merit and go nuts, just turn autosort on. Likewise, Dark Elementals show up a lot in Phomiuna Aqueducts and Sacrarium, so you and a party might could farm them in those places.
Ice Crystals: Gigas possibly if you can exp off of them?

I think Ace wanted cluster information.

If you can get a 75BLM friend, you can go up to sky and farm the Light elementals upstairs. Just make sure to open with Sleepga as I believe they have blink. They usually die in about 5-6 nukes, depending on resistance rates and merits.

I think I got 300 exp for fighting them by myself.

Those areas look easy enough, but the frequency of light and dark weather could be more of a headache than it's worth. You may want to just farm other items, which you could do while waiting for light/dark weather, sell and buy up the light/dark clusters.

I would also recommend /rng. Those areas are easy enough to kill elementals without a sub, so you will be fine with rng1. Just recommending this because it can be a real pain trying to find an elemental without it, then watching the weather go away before you even find one.

Delkfutt's Tower has a HUGE abundance of thunder elementals (during thunder weather). But the weather is common. All you do is start several floors up, smash the ele's there, drop in a hole, smash more, drop in another hole, smash more, and repeat.

Your list is pretty solid, regardless

Could always grab a couple people and kill elementals in sky, since all of them can spawn there, just different for each island.

Change Tahrongi to Buburimu for wind clusters. TH2 can net as many as 12 clusters in each wind storm (they are frequent) if you know where to be. Water clusters can also be easily farmed in this zone as well.

Ooo thanks for that info, never even thought about Buburimu >_>. I'll also do /rng and try out the tower. Thanks everyone! ^^

Just out of curiosity - even with 50% HQ I still find it cheaper to buy the cards from the ferry from WG to Nashmau, and from Nashmau itself. The lowest rate on the ship is like 36 gil a card (but they only sell Light, Dark, Ice, and Lightning iirc) and the rates at Nashmau is 48 gil a card.

I remember Earth is the only one cheap enough that 'making it' is actually worth it?

Then again if you're bent on making the cards yourself, more power to ya. Happy QDing ; )

Might be easier to just farm gil and buy clusters, since you can farm constantly for gil rather than worrying about weather conditions for elementals to pop up.
