There's a series of Objectives to capture, defend, and eventually destroy. The number of these objectives (Usually 2 Towers, 2 Bunkers, and 1 Field General) dictate how many Generals the Main Boss at the end of the battleground will have to help him. Picture if by killing all the Jailers you eliminated all of AV's support spawns (pets) and were left with just AV himself to defeat. Same principal applies here, Towers = Generals in the end room, Bunkers = Generals in the end room.
Quite Often Horde players will destroy the Field General, and burn both towers and bunkers, leaving just the final boss to defeat to obtain a win in the battleground. Alliance people loooooooooooooove to stop all offense, pull all personel to the sole purpose of defending their final boss. Sometimes this can go on for fucking hours upon hours. The point is, all towers and bunkers are gone, the outcome is a foregone conclusion at this point. They can defend all they want, butin the end they don't have the strategic advantage to get our (Horde's) Field General, towers and bunkers. It just prolongs the inevitable.
Mind you when all Field Generals, towers and bunkers are destroyed, the Honor reward from the battleground caps, and it's pointless for EVERYONE to reenact the Helms Deep scene from Lord of the Rings. They pointlessly defend from their shell of people, and make shit horridly slow for everyone. Hence the Turtle.
