Elvaan BLM.. 2x Astrals Vs. 2 INT+ rings

If you happen to have an RDM in the party to heal that person, you wouldn't be wasting mp.

And I mentioned the extra damage gained. It heightens exponentially on a Magic Burst, and if you're a smart BLM, you'll save your Elemental Seals for those. Not that it can be used every 3 minutes. -_-

And if it did enough to take hate, I hope you're talking about MBs. If not, the tank just ain't so good at holding hate. And since its about MBs, it reverts back to what I said in this post.

If you think a stupid BLM can't take hate off the best tank in the world whenever he wants you are mistaken. Ninja tanking this morning I had a BLM who refused to let me keep control. (No thf unfortunately.) I'd start off with Blind, provoke, slow, 2 elemental:ni and it would be on him before my provoke timer was down. He was a taru, and he just kept dying for his own stupidity. (He was chain-Blizzard 2ing at 51 on beetles) He didnt enfeeble, just nuked away like a retard. Oh and random freezes, when the mob was at half hp, resulting in him dying because he didnt kill it all the way.

As to the Q, eh, blm doesnt need to be up the entirety of the battle, at least in the early levels. I recommend carrying both pie and cookies. Use pie for the int/mp boost but if you are having trouble keeping MP up swap to cookie. Baron pants/seer tunic and the RA/EX wand from saruta will help you lots, till you get dark staff. If you only want to keep one set of rings, keep the INT ones. They are probably going to be more helpful in the long run.

Spam nuke... I've seen it, you've seen it, we've all had an experience with a BLM that does it.

And when did I even say that a stupid BLM can't? o_O

I'd rather have my RDM enfeebling and MBn everyonce in a while, over checking on the retarded BLM who thinks he's gods gift to damage while getting his ass beat by the mob.

Mobs should be on one person, and one person only, and that is the tank. Anyone else getting hit means the party doesn't work.

Elvaans are good plds. A Serket ring wouldn't suck for a pld either.

Please don't be a Blm.

If you must,

this post is ridiculous.

one of the highest damaging blms i know is elvaan, believe it or not.

yeah, they face a lower INT initially and lower mp pool, but just because you are taru, does not make you the end all at blm. the end.

and yes, he does outdamage most taru at camps.

Who is this Elvaan BLM that outnukes tarus?

I think he can help me. My Blm is at 25 atm and im heading into RSE range.
But dam this server got inflated in only a few months, and prices doubled in RSE to 200k a piece.

And I was thinking of the whole "swap my rings with macros thing," but it seemed like a hassle. I'll try that out next time.

thx for the help guys! :D

You don't say what level you are, so going off the fact you can equip astrals, that narrows it down to 65 other possible levels you could be.

If you're level 50, use dual astrals to rest, swap out once your done and equip your sorcerer's ring. Thats like having +20INT on one finger. Then again, if you're rich, you could buy a serket and have both the astrals, on one finger. The latent on the sorcerer's ring is triggered by yellow (below 75%) hp, so aslong as you have a bit more -hp equips, you should be put in yellow. Just bitch at the whm for healing you, then you'll be sorted.

Use the astrals straight, try to deck your other equips out as best as possible, your RSE is good for BLM, use it. You're never gonna do as much damage as taru, or maybe even hume, but as long as you have good mp, a good playing style (good magic burst and hate control.) and are willing to learn and be as best you can, you'll be fine :D

Who the hell are you guys to tell somone what they can and can't level? Just because hes elvaan hes "Joining the bandwagon?" Jeese, talk about arrogant. And where and alvaan might suffer in mp, which shouldnt be really that much, he will have more hp and vit to take the hits. Just because your taru doesn't mean your better than anyone. People used to bash galka whms, but guess what? They have 1k+ hp and 1k mp, and can take hits like no other. Race isn't what makes the job.

And yea, crooked had the right idea, just swap gear out, but if thats a hassle I'd say go with Int, get more bang for your buck.

Nope, cannot seem to figure anything wrong with Zoolander's statement. Granted BLM and White Mage jobs are a bit different but the idea's the same. Not sure why VIT, def, and hp is valuable to a mage? A dead mage is a useless mage. On more times than I can count I have lived through mass aoe damage and lived to raise the tarutaru mages who got one shotted. All that extra mp does them no good if they're weakened and only have half of it.

If anyone's on a bandwagon it's the idea behind "this race is for this job, that race is meant to do this job.." etc. Yah, Zoolander's a high level player and more often than not knows just what the hell he is talking about.

That's kinda agreeing with my post then.

And for some reason, Sandria's message isn't showing up while logged in. Anyways, about AoE, if your mages got hit, they shouldn't be standing that close. That simple.

In EXP? Of course not. End-game? No matter how much you avoid it.. you're going to get caught into an aoe move. And with the wide variety of food items available, not just gear, any race can do any job in an EXP. All it comes down to is the player's abilities not a few stat boosts here or there. Some've the best paladins that I've EXP'd with have been Tarutaru-- they are not always the best choice for certain things in end-game unless in cases where a substitute is nessessary. But, there have been some tarutaru black mages that I'd much rather bench because they don't have the same skill as other players who might not have the best race choice. Same applies to Elvaan PLDs, etc.

hmmm

I'd agree with using the astrals til you lost the 50mp that you get from them then just go with INT, in my opinion, the more MP you have, the more times you're gonna die, period lol... just nuke the shit out of it, sooner or later you won't even give a damn how much mp you have, just how much that first and 2nd hit take hehe

I've seen Taru Nin's hold hate off idiot Taru BlM's with the right equip/spells.. yeah they looked like they were worth the rest of the pt x20 but ... it's possible.. if a mage gets hit, the tank is failing. If the mage is an idiot and drawing OBSCENE hate (such as the nuke spam) replace. Better to have some down time with 0 exp than down time with negative exp cause a blm doesn't know their job.
Race means nothing.. I've seen enough 70+ Mithra Bst to know that.

I have an elvaan Blm Friend that is the same level as me and had almost 400 less MP than me when we were at lvl 68.

If you are going to be a Blm mage, don't do that as your Main job. Don't Merit it. Don't try to beat maat with Blm.

you should also plan on investing in a serket ring.

Elvaans are good plds. A Serket ring wouldn't suck for a pld either.

Please don't be a Blm.

If you must,

I beat maat first try as Elvaan blm.
As did most other Elvaan blms i know.
I dont know a single taru blm that didnt die
atleast 5 times.

A Hume BLM is the best for over all MP/INT and they are able to take hits if you happen to pull hate. As a 40 BLM/WHM I have 44 +29 INT and that is without all the gear I want. That number will only get higher when I actually feel like leveling up my RDM for a sub to it.

well I beat it second try (resisted sleep even with capped enfeebling first try, bad luck I guess)

but anyways back to the point, nothing wrong with elvaan blm or taru war or galka whm for that matter, as far as I'm concerned it comes down to effort and skill. If you're going to do a less common job/race combo then you should put in the effort for the gear you need to compete and skill factors a ton into any job, knowing how much damage you can do without getting hate, knowing how to keep hate, knowing how best to deal with any given situation is very improtant.

as to the whole taru mage can't live through anything argument, I will admit there have been times I died solely because I'm a taru but I put a lot of thought into having the correct sub job for each fight to deal with whatever AOE/hate issues I might have. I rarely die at kirin or most HNMs anymore. (usually live through astral flow with 10-100 hp left over)

No one said he's joining the bandwagon.

honestly, this was my first thought, if you wanna be another guy on the bandwagon though do what Crookedmidget suggested.

He did.

But Jakey, You're an awesome BLM and perhaps one've the first I'd go to for BLM advice. And the only problem when you live through the 2hr you end up having to kite it anyway... :) Going to have to see your Dragoon in action one've these days. ^.^
