End-Game Item E-Peen Rating!

Um, wow I really hope this isn't serious. I would use YYR while avatar is out and swap the doublet into Blood pact rage.

The part where it says Emnity +5, if you look a little closer you'll see that it says Avatar: Emnity +5. So long as your play your cards right this will not affect you in the least, except if you are soloing your avatar will pull hate back faster (well, you shouldn't ever really have hate to begin with). If anything the Emnity +5 is a positive thing rather than a negative thing.

I was always told the enmity transfered when the pet is recalled. So sue me, I seriously find that YYR is overrated as an e-peen, it is no-longer that rare and a Summoner's Doublet's Avatar Prepetuation down is greater then YYR's refresh effect (depending on the day and avatar used on that day) even so the Crit hate rate on the doublet makes it nice. Can't get a Fenrir that costs 0 mp/tic without the doublet either. they both have good and bad to them tho, just doublet is more rare and equally as good.

Uhh its actually good on things like Mamools so they don't spam Firespit/Rushing Slash attacks and Skoffins who like to spam AOE paralyze and dispel.

Unless maybe you only merit in the lolmire.

I dont merit anymore.
But I know when I did, Subtle Blow was the least of our concerns.
Mobs popping fast enough on the other hand.
Meriting isn't exactly rocket science, and if you're a somewhat decent player, the number of ws's they use wont be a problem.
Because seriously, in a fight they might use 2 ws's, if you gotta rely on subtle blow to get it down to 1 to be able to keep chain going.
Well, I think you know the answer.

Emnity isn't transfered when pet is recalled. You gain hate for doing small things such as assault, release, etc. And once you release your avatar hate is fully cleared. However when you call the avatar back they retain a fair amount of their previous hate (unless you released the avatar previously). This pretty much only goes into play when you are soloing because rarely does your pet actually die when you are exping or doing events such as sky, etc.

While SMN doublet can be very nice for perpetuation cost on specific days, the remaining 7 days of the week it is essentially useless (unless you actually rotate your avatars around your armor).

What I do is swap in SMN doublet for Blood Pact: Rage, and for the rest of my uses stick to YYR. Aside from rage and that 1 day of the week when the day meets the avatar you want to use, YYR is more beneficial than the Doublet.

For every job except NIN and MNK, getting enough subtle blow to effect the monster's WS count gimps your damage. MNK and NIN, however, get subtle blow on enough good pieces that they're able to significantly cut down on feeding TP without gimping themselves. On my monk, I usually have +15-+20 subtle blow on, depending on which melee set I need; and I'm far from gimp. You're not going to notice any loss from 4-6 less attack, stop acting like it's going to have a major effect.

Since you don't merit anymore, you don't know about the current meriting scene, where even with mnk's wearing melee gloves, you're easily able to kill fast enough that you're waiting on repops.

Haha, are you a fucking moron?
You think the areas in a video game change from day to day?
Mamools all of a sudden moved to france and now there's a bunch of rabbits from cape terrigan populating the place?
Some people...

And start reading what the fuck I say.
All along I've been saying it's redicoulisly (however you spell that) easy to get your merits, and if you have to rely on some subtle blow, just gtfo.
Mnk's dont even need melee gloves, I would say they dont need gloves at all to have to wait on repops.

[Edit]

I never said anything about no extra 4-6 attack, mind you.
I was only commenting people's silly ideas and beleifs. Subtle Blow will save your chain!

he was being sarcastic.

And yet there is nothing wrong with having more subtle blow if damage doesn't really suffer. If there was no reason to worry about TP gain in merit pt at all, there would be no reason not to use K club, or m. kris for TP gain. Yet, using those weapons in merit party is clearly retarded when the amount of tp given by those weapon clearly does more harm than good to the ability of the party to maintain a steady pace. Mobs might not be able to get more than 1 TP move off when all your melee have tp to ws the next mob down, but in those cases where they can't there's no reason why you shouldn't try to lessen tp moves done when you can if its not breaking the chain.

In the worst case for caring about TP given to a mob, you lose the chain because you take too long to kill it due to lack of damage from subtle blow gear or some silly reason. In the worst case for not caring about TP given to a mob, you die because of dispelga/paralyga/fang rush spam. The ws that the mobs choose to use don't have anything to do with being a "decent player."

If you're having a problem with mobs popping fast enough, I'd recommend a better camp where you aren't reaching the max already, or a better puller who knows how to pace the kills so you aren't breaking chain if you're killing too fast.

btw how's that guard skill coming along?

doublet is no where near equal to yyr. get realistic. doublets only good once in awhile, and gimping yourself with non-refresh is completely idiotic for 90% of the time on your summoner.

Also, time for some more epeen items to rate!

I'll update this and get more items up today. Seriously! I promise! :(

Ugh, I put updating this off too long. Gonna take a while. Thus, my scores without comments on wave 4.

Aegis (10)
Bandomusha Kote (5)
Crimson Scale Mail (3)
Gjallarhorn (9.5)
Maat's Cap (6)
Peacock Amulet (6)
Shadow Mantle (5)
Shadow Ring (7)
Trotter Boots (3)
Yinyang Robe (6)

k, wave five's up, go nuts. Tried to get one of each salvage set onto the master list, one item from each of the nyzul isle sets, and a few interesting filler items.

Ares's Sollerets (5) A good pair of boots for all jobs applicable, but there's too many Att Acc boots to make these stand out.

Askar Manopolas (3) I don't see anything outstanding about these. Maybe I'm missing something, but they don't look like anything I'd wear on any of the jobs listed other than Paladin and possibly Warrior.

Cleric's Pantaloons (5) I'm not a mage, but I imagine that's pretty good for Bar buffs, yeah? As far as rarity goes, it's a dynamis piece. Old news.

Denali Jacket (1) Crap.

Goliard Cuffs (7) When I was doing sky, I remember Black Mages going nuts for that Magic Attack boost from A. Hands and it was only +5. This is +4%, plus the magic accuracy? That seems alright.

Kirin's Osode (5) Nice, but its uses are limited.

Kyudogi (7) Fairly good piece for both SAM and RNG. Kirin's Osode tops it though for RNG. The mats seem pretty hard to get.

Marduk's Tiara (4) Like I said, I'm not a mage but there's nothing appealing about this particular piece. 4 points for rarity.

Saotome Kote (6) I always liked this piece of AF. I plan to level Samurai whenever I come back to the game and this is one piece of AF I'd gladly lot on. It's not completely rare, seeing as how it's from Bastok which, in my opinion, contained the most mobs of any of the 4 cities but still very useful.

Skadi's Chausses (1) Get Dusk Trousers.

Yaaaay more stuff to rate, was beginning to think thread died. :(

Ares's Sollerets (5) Sorta like Armada +.5 Nice boots but not an extreme wow factor.
Askar Manopolas (2) I'd use Homam still.
Cleric's Pantaloons (6) Extremely useful pants for some big baddies, and not as common as I would like them to be!
Denali Jacket (1) Crap. <-- I have to agree there don't really see any use for any of those jobs, maybe rng or cor, but hell their subligar piece isn't far off from that.
Goliard Cuffs (5) Not sure exactly how good these are, but does seem interesting. Depends of how that percentage is calculated hehe.
Kirin's Osode (6) Most will probably say its time has come and gone, well screw them. XD You know you drooled all over it in the before time. In the long, long ago.
Kyudogi (8 ) Pretty badass piece, looks awesome and is fairly rare from that one hard to get ingredient.
Marduk's Tiara (6) Nothing super groundbreaking, but something that gets me out of that damn Penis helm has my bonus points vote. Not sure I've seen one yet.
Saotome Kote (6) One of the really useful city pieces. Who knew something good could actually come out of Bastok! Wakka wakka wakka.
Skadi's Chausses (4) Seems to be a fairly nice piece for those jobs, nothing earth shattering though.

Wave Five:
Ares's Sollerets (5) Good, possibly best for war, only supper marginally. Drk have Homam, as do Drg, and war have 2 other options that are almost exact stats. These are good and good looking. But not worth the xMonths needed to get them. However... They could easily occur as a drop lot piece and be gotten for relatively no effort.

Askar Manopolas (8 ) I got these on freelot. And I have slowly begun to love them so very much. Besides the fact they are prolly the best looking hands in the game next to like morrigan's cuffs and fishing gloves, the stats gro on you. I use em explicitly while solo/duoing on my drk. And I drop em in my cast macros for Utsu. But with the recent update to the 2h weapons, the 5 dex and haste is pretty nice.

Cleric's Pantaloons (5) Good, situational to most, a nessessity for others. Kinda a pain in the ass to get actually...

Denali Jacket (1) Seriously... wtf are you thinking putting this shit piece of crap in an "E-Peen" thread, I mean this thing fails on asthetics alone.

Goliard Cuffs (1/10) Depending on how these proc, they could either be really sick, or really lame.

Kirin's Osode (6) It still looks neato, has good stats, it's just sad it's been overshadowed by so much good gear in recent days.

Kyudogi (8 ) Awesome piece, I think the best a Rng can get iirc.

Marduk's Tiara (1) ... I don't know much about the jobs that can wear this, but I think I know enough to know this is pretty lame. Maybe redeemable if it's the piece that completes the set, but otherwise it looks fail.

Saotome Kote (6) Super useful and awesome, however it's macro fodder, and not that uncommon. It is one of those pieces that's the difference between a 'good' samurai and an 'Elite' one; that's the only reason it doesn't get the 4 it shoudl deserve, it's defining.

Skadi's Chausses (10) this was pretty low on my Slavage wish list for a long ass time until i actually gave it a grain of thought. More and more time goes by and it's sunk in, This is prolly the single best general use legwear for thief, Period.

To those hatin' on the Marduk Tiara: It's quite possibly the best BRD headpiece available with only the AF2+1 hat being the only piece close to it. But meh, lolbrd I guess.

Sorry for the delay, I'm on a semi-break :P

Subtle Blow from 1 piece of gear and Kraken Club is a very big differance.
That's like comparing Bubbly Bernie and Vrtra.
Because like you said yourself, if you stack all the Subtle Blow you can find, dmg output will be hindered.
However, bad example coming up, last time I got my buffer back on pld the other pld off'd a KC.
Now, we were only 2 pld's a rdm and a brd, but that KC helped alot.
So yeah, everything is situational.
But the +4 subtle blow from melee gloves wont really make or break anything.
I mean, have a war in that PT and the mob will get 100% tp after 2-3 good attack rounds from him alone...
And, say you have 4 melee's, all of them shouldn't WS on the same mob, that's how you loose a chain.

No, you as a player dont have much of a say when it comes to what WS a merit mob uses.
You can however be prepared for the worst at all times and if you play with a tight gang the wrong person wont get hit with *that* ws.
Sure, shit happens and that fang rush *can* kill you.
But there are alot better mamool camps than just outside the gate, where you dont have to fight wyverns at all.
They're not really good chain mobs.

I would ask SE to add a few pops in the good camps, but like I said, I dont merit anymore so I dont really care.
I gave up meriting with random noobs in gimp gear a long time ago, so no, it wasn't the pullers fault either.

As for the guard skill, I was fortunate enough to be allowed into a good shell, so my free time came to an end.
However in that shell I got further proof that it's not as tough as everyone thinks.
Even easier since phalanx 2.

Not gonna be able to keep up with the thread reading but to each is his own, or however that saying goes. (I'm not english/american.)
And since I wont be playing with you, use all the subtle blow you want :)
Not directed at you specifically Rhaddy.

Because in the end, gear isn't as useful as we like to beleive.
Gimp and/or less gifted people in the intelligence department still win just about any battle in the game, so why bother getting the best stuff when you clearly dont *need* it for anything?
But I aready spewed enough of this crap in another thread, better not get this one messy(ier) aswell :P

Happy merits ya'll ^^

For people wondering about denali jacket... really, the denali set just looks like it blows ass to me, and none of the pieces really stood out so I just picked one arbitrarily to get it on the list. In retrospect, I think I should've gone with the hands over the jacket. But they still fail too so.. *shrugs*

Where does a Soboro Sukehiro fall on this chart?

No where. You're a moron to use it in an end game situation.

By that logic anything a thf uses other than thf knife and relic hands should never be on this list. let's not even get into how mnks definetly dont fit into endgame fights other than salvage thanks to that 2 handed update
