Before you apply, there is usually a thread with a few paragraphs explaining the shells goal. Then there is a thread explaining the rules and lotting system, I'm sure all 5 of your answers will be answered there.

If you don't know the LS you are applying for, chances are you aren't going to make it in that LS. That includes any type of shell out there, from end game to social. If you aren't familiar with the people you won't enjoy yourself and end up running back to your social shell about how much end-game sucks, and everyone sees that and the rumor perpetuates into fact.

Sky isn't that bad if you are with a group that hangs out all the time. I've never been a fan of people switching to socials after gods. I always hated to see 30 people at kirin, then the second it's over the same 10-15 players are on.

If you want to earn more points, gain more seniority, go at your end-game LS all out. Keep in touch with your socials through forums and FL. Enough players like this and you end up with quality end-game shells like pers, kaizen, jda, element, etc. The people in those shells spend their in-game time together, so when it comes time to jump to action, everyone wants to because that is their friend who is up for the next item and they want to see them suceed.

When you have a bunch of players switching shells after events, only the core get what they want because they are always together racking up points.

If you see the same people getting items, and you go bitch to your social shell, well...that's your problem.
that is so so true. best post you ever made.

sometimes it doesnt matter though. you just need to be friends with a leader to get what you want.

Best advice I can give in such a situation is to read the shell's rules to see if there's any sufficiently gray area that something like that *could* happen.

If there are clear and delineated rules between job priority, shell seniority, overall participation, specific-event participation (this last is mostly seen with sky and trigger farming vs. god drops), etc. ... (EDIT: in other words, be very wary of stuff to the tune of "leaders' discretion".)

Then there's not exactly a lot of wiggle room for leaders to go "yeaaaaaah ... this is going to my friend because I say so". Well unless the leaders are so exceptionally stupid that they'll do something like that in front of everyone and antagonize their entire shell in the process.

Which, of course, gets us back to the moral of the story - don't join any shells with rules you don't find acceptable and/or sufficiently clear. And go right ahead and leave any shell that doesn't actually *follow* its previously stated rules (and take as many people with you as you can, seeing as nobody should have to put up with two-faced leaders who would disregard their own rules).

(This is not really in response to the person I'm quoting, whose situation I'm unfamiliar with. More just general good endgame advice.)
