I think that so far out of my mmo experience by far ff has to be the worst system for obtaining items in a ls which in turn spawns greed in players. Why you may ask? Because lets say you join a linkshell, you get 1 point per hour of doing something, naturally others where there before you and will have dibs on anything and youll eventually have to work your way up. Now lets say after 6 months you have 200 points, shell breaks. 200 hours gone trying to get 1 piece of gear. Ok on to the next shell, same deal X months playing got 100 points and want a piece of gear. Kicked because of peoples issues with you, another 100 hours gone and nothing to show for it. 300 hours of your time = wasted. Any decent linkshell in my opinion that has broken / kicked a person should reimburse the person for hours spent. In my example, NotoriousHunters (dunno remember how many points) what i got out of it? Optical Hat. Test maybe 50 points what i got out of it ? Nothing. Kursed something like 60 some odd points what i got out of it? Rostrum Pumps. Perseverance close to 80 or 90 what i got out of it? Bards Roundlet, Bards Gloves. Id say close to 300+ hours of playing this game and what i have to show for it is 2 pieces of relic, optical hat, and a pair of rostrums. If someone gets booted for something thats not jacking a uber item from someone you should pay them a flat fee for hours spent, lets say @ the points i had i could have gotten my much needed d body abj, a legs abj, and an osode or manteel. Welcome to the wonder full world of you can profit through someone coming to camp / kill things then when you find someone better kick him and give him nothing. Leaders of ls's in this game have to much power to get what they want and keep people down. Wanna be successful in your ff career? make a ls, get it to do everything and help you get whatever you want. Im sick of this game if i dont see an invite to a decent shell by wednesday im done. Fuck the bullshit ive played way to long to have what i have. Feel free to rant about your own personal being fucked experiences.

Not a big advocate of pot, but it couldn't hurt...

I was next up for N.hands/feet and W.legs off and on but they'd never drop while I was on, and then Rise broke.

So fuckin' what? The same thing'll happen in any other MMORPG. If your guild breaks, it's not like you'll magically get some huge reimbursement.

This sense of entitlement may get you blackballed from any of the decent LS you want to be invited by.

He's also saying he wants to be compensated for his time spent because he was KICKED from a shell, not just because it broke.

Put your time in, and dont do shit that gets you kicked. Thats how you obtain stuff from any LS. Except that weird one that gives newer members priority over old ones.

something similar happened to me. I was in a sky shell, and attended regularly. Then, about a week or two ago, this sky shell had merged with another, and the only time theyre now in sky is when I cant be, and when I can be no one is. The old schedule is out the window, and I cant attend anymore. I dont have a big problem with this, honestly... But I need a schedule to be able to attend, I cant just join at random times, you know? :/

In WoW certain jobs could acquire certain items, not a multiple job thing, in shadowbane if your guild broke you got whatever was in your guilds bank b4 it breaking divided by the # of players you had. if a ls breaks and has a ls bank who usually gets that? leaders. If a ls kicks you and you had points you never uesd you wasted your time with that ls. End game in any mmo requires massive participation from multiple players yet ff has no ranking system within its linkshell system, you need mad blms, smns, whms, and rdms to kill anything worth while, and now anything that could have made you $ is now rare/ex because of the gil sellers. For a monk to get blackbelt w/o an end game ls he needs to accumulate 297 ks and get 17 blms to kill the ks in hopes of obtaining the item. If you want an abjuration? same shit gotta have alotta people, Sky ? Sea? Hnm? SE makes it seem like they are gearing the game towards easier ways to level with less people, to allow drops from the "baby" nm's to be found elsewhere. Yet all of these items can be purchased any ways. In WoW they implemented 6 man raids so you can obtain items you may have wanted in a higher man instance, fuck lol in shadowbane you could make your own gear by having a vendor randomly create things for you. In ff you need a constant source of income, a lot of luck, and a whole lotta people to like you otherwise your pretty fucked. The good players have all moved on, the good ones that remain are drunk with power, and the ones now struggling to make it to the top are hindered by personal squabbles and issues. Ive left shells literally because peoples greed was so immense that if they didnt get byakkos haidate they wouldnt show up to anything. People will get mad over going to tiamat over khimaira because they are pld. What happened to improving the ls as a whole instead of decking out one person? Your a 65 monk yet want D body abj when a 75 monk has the togi but no abj. you lot against him? I hate to say it but on quetz greed is rampant and greed is apparently good. When was the last time you helped some noob shouting for some $ in jeuno? When was the last time you DIDNT curse someone for getting an nm before you? Why is it if you are good your called a hacker, if your bad your a ls leader and if your in the middle you get no where? Integral, kaizen, perseverance, and happy angel can all camp one mob and claim it on a different day and time. And i assure you in every single one of those shells someone is screaming OMFG HACKZORZ WTF GM CALL THEM NOW. SE believes they will solve this games problems with removing the gil sellers way of making $, they are incorrect. So long as greed runs rampant and good players are unable to organize and capatalize on the skills they have / share this game is fucked.

Bitch bitch bitch. Whine whine whine
I can't makes money cause SE sockslapped all the gilsellers!
You can't do anything without an army of blm rdm and smn! monks cant get bb without using 3 stacks of kindred seals!
Random complaint about not getting to use points when he personally LEFT the shells himself over the greed of others.
Endgame LS leaderes are drunk with power.
Everyone screams HAX!
Noone helps out random people anymore.
Wow has 6 man raids which is soo much better*cough*assault*cough*
My first sky ls disbanded with me next in line for nhands, behemoth leather and n.feet. I got over it. I suggest you do the same.

In all my time doing "endgame" (of the camping variety, as opposed to the quasi-instanced variety like Dynamis, Limbus, Assault) in various shells, which amounts to about 2 years when added up, I've gotten in approximately chronological order:

- Suppanomimi
- Suzaku's Sune-ate
- Genbu's Shield
- Genbu's Kabuto
- Rostrum Pumps
- Royal Cloak (this wasn't an LS point thing, but a thank you gift for organizing CoP)

That's pretty much *it*. In my time *not* poured into endgame (which amounts to *less* time), free to organize stuff myself or participate in quasi-instanced stuff, I've gotten about three times that much stuff. Plus had way more freedom to hang out with friends (in-game and RL), and freedom to choose not to play FFXI at all if I wasn't in the mood.

Did I have my share of bitterness right after I stopped doing endgame? Oh, you bet. Even now, the sight of manteels makes me grumpy. But I *did* get over it, and I'm pretty sure you will too given enough time and patience.

And if the stuff you can get out of endgame isn't worth the time - and, yes, the *risk* of wasted time - to you, then damn well don't do it. There's a ton of good stuff that you can just plain *buy*, and there's quite a bit of damn good rare/ex stuff you can get with a nice friendly social LS without the endgame drama attached (anything from Assault for example, or anything besides Homam/Nashira from Limbus).

If you're interested in any AF2, then Dynamis LS's that have been around a while (emphasis on that part - new Dynamis LS's have a high risk of falling apart) tend to be very safe time investments. Just pick one with a schedule you can attend and rules you agree with.

If you want to be the uberest of the uberly geared, then yes, you'll have to put up with endgame. If you have no reason to play the game unless you can get that sort of stuff, and if you refuse to put up with endgame, then yes, you should follow through on your threat and quit, because you're at an impasse. Otherwise, you'll have to compromise one point or the other. Either put up with endgame for all its joys and failings, or put up with not being as leet as you wanted.

If anyone else reads this, summarize it, I dunno if I have something to say about this, but I'm sure not reading it.

Something about if a guild in WoW breaks everyone gets equal share of the guild's bank. Then something more about if an LS breaks only the leaders get a share in the LS bank, then something about greed. Then something about "adfhoguih" (whatever that means).

To the OP: You got kicked. You don't deserve shit.

Just ignoring the fact that your points weren't even close to getting an osode, eh?

You're talking about greed while your entire post is about not getting gear over the older members of shells. Really?

So what are you flaming? The fact that end-game linkshells use a logical structured system so that everyone and not just yourself gets drops, or the fact that you keep being removed from linkshells for whatever reason? Just showing up for something doesn't mean you "earned" anything. And even if you do earn your way to the top of your linkshell's points for whatever item you want, if you can't be civil enough to keep them from booting you then that's your own damn fault and nothing to complain about.

The best part?

I find it extremelt ironic that the person in question talk about linkshells being greedy, when he shows huge signs of greed in the very post he wrote.

You know there are some people that do play this game for fun concept. I'm sure everyone adores their character for the hours spent on it but some people have more motive to join a shell for events. Sometimes and better yet from personal experience I can find myself lost in the game without regular events to do. The items are nice but I dont think they should be something you look forward to in a shell, more so a bonus or reward. Getting accepted in a shell to join them for events is already asking enough.

I joined a sky ls AFTER i had EVERYTHING i needed...does that count?

dont just join any random linkshell.

oh, and dont get kicked. lol.

Well said. Also, dont join a shell when your friend is like "hay guyz want to join my sky shell?!" I've been invited to more than a few of these startups lately and they are generally composed of a few people who want end game gear with minimal time investment, and suck/fail in the long run (or short run depending)

Do your research, know your people. Sure you're going to run into some kinks in the hose, thats the nature of anything dealing with groups of people. Shells break, move on,change, and evolve. I'm sorry for your loss of time and energy, but asking that a LS reimburse your time is just silly.
