I received my first invite to a HNM/GODS LS on Saturday. I turned it down. My social LS I run wanted to slap me as I received the invite as a PLD65.

The main reason I turrned it down was because it came with the stipulation that I could belong to no other LS. I am sorry, but I have been co-leader of this small social since I was a level 7 MNK with no sub-job, I will not abandon it just to get into a Endgame LS.

But my main reason for posting is that is half of the type of Endgame LS I want into. I really want to get into a HNM/Dynamis, as those are the only two endgame activities I have any kind of interest in at this time. Still need to do CoP and Zilart missions =/

So does anyone have advice for what level as a PLD I may be able to get into any of these shells and which ones don't care about the fact that I run my own Social LS?

Most Ls don't care about you having a social, they probably just meant you werent allowed to have another hnm/god LS.

The individual that was asking me had asked if the ls i was wearing was an endgame and i had stated no, he also stated his was a social also. I wasn't mistaken lol, he was quite clear that that would be my only linkshell.

Allowing only one LS is retarded. Probably a good thing you turned it down

Dynamis... good luck with that...

PLD Dynamis AF2 Rarely drop lol, is like trying to get Kclub and claiming it at the same time D:

HNM, well you better have a lot of HP later on in the level :P

I can understand their reasoning behind only wanting you to have their LS. Something might come up with no warning and they want to be able to get as many people as they can; which is hard to do if there's no one in the endgame LS. It's unusual to not allow you to have a social LS though, it's not hard to say "there's nothing endgame for a while, so I'm going to pop into my social LS, send me a tell if something comes up." Most endgame LS will let you have a social shell, but you're meant to wear the endgame shell most of the time.

There's really no reason why you can't have two different endgame shells: one for HNMs and one for Dynamis. They don't share the same focus.

I'd say you're right to walk away from the endgame offer you received. There are plenty of others out there.

Um.. So what is everyone's suggestion if most Endgame LS's want it to be the primary? I built this freind base in my Social and are not about to do everything short of abandoning it to get into a Dynamis/HNM LS so I can participate. I' e written posts about all the Drama I have read about with Endgame LS's and the closer and closer i get to endgame the less and less I am excited about it. Between the dueling LS's and flamewars, and then the restrictions placed on the members, its not looking like it is going to be worth the hassle lol.

Like I said, I started this LS when I was a level 7 MNK with no sub. The people I have surrounded myself with are all very good freinds and competent players who started the game within (either before or after) a few months of me. I cannot and will not relegate them to second place to get into a Endgame LS lol. Sorry.

The endgame LS SHOULD be your primary; you join to help out in endgame, which is very time consuming. They might discover an HNM is up and about, or it's window is up and want to go camp it, but if everyone is off in another linkshell they'll never camp anything.

You should be able to keep your social, you just won't be able to main it once you join an HNM shell. Like I said, if there's nothing up and no one is doing anything, then popping into your social shell should be ok, but most of the time there's something to kill or some event going on that you can help with. The difference between the two is that a social is just a place to hang out and talk to friends, maybe help with quests or something. An HNM shell is designed to bring a lot of high level people together to kill even higher level monsters. A social shell is casual, while an HNM shell has a purpose.

If you're not willing to do what everyone else in endgame does, don't join.

Speaking as a lv75 PLD you proably wont get an invite to a dynamis shell as a melee/tank until you at least hit 70 because at 65 you can enter Dynamis, but you wont hit diddly squat in there unless your decked out with ACC+ gear then you wont fuction very well as a PLD in there.

As for HNMs if you can find a baby HNM type shell then you might be able to get a invite at 65. But most of the higher HNMs and Kings LSs.. PLDs arnt exactly key in their strats for taken them down. Yes we are used but not as often as i would like. And even then to even get a invite you proably need to have some REALLY good Gear. And most of the Best PLD Gear in the Game is abtained through sky.

Basic progression through endgame is:
Rank Mission to 6> Zilart Missions> Sky > HNM

you can fit CoP, Baby HNMs, and other stuff anywhere in there

As Claud has said there is normally a natural progression from Sky generally first to HNMs and what not. The main gear you have to look foward to in sky would be Koenig Head / Hand and Crimson Legs / Feet. You would most likely pick up Crimson Feet / Koenig Hands fairly quickly however, the others are not as easily obtained. You also voiced an interest in Dynamis as well though and, that would probably be the best starting block for you there. Generally it shouldn't be too tough to find a dynamis shell that works around your schedule and, you probably already know the said rewards from Dynamis. I would reccomend going into Dynamis first if at all possible. The main reason is that you would learn several of the more basic principles of the End Game activities and you would have some exposure to the time sink of it all.

Thats the main reason why I'm interested in Dynamis mainly, I dont have to have the LS on 24/7 and don't have to relegate my Social to second place. Everything is scheduled and I don't have to worry about running to a HNM pop or camping anything for obscene amounts of time. I definitely want to get into HNM later, but if that is going to require me to give up my Social as my main LS, {Thank you for the offer, but I'll have to pass.}, I'll stick with Dynamis and work on Sky access with my Social.

I ran into the same problem as you, have been leading my own social/event LS since I was a MNK 30, and found that even though I had been given a few invites to some endgame LSs, (excluding Dynamis type) I could never feel that I would be able to contribute the way that you should be able to contribute to those shells.

It makes sense that when you join sky, you have less time to spend with your social shell, and seeing as I was leading my own, that just wouldn't work for me to abandon my group for the majority of the time.

In the end it came to a decision of "Do I want to help people that already have a lvl 75 job, probably a good amount of gil, and have many of the quests/missions completed" vs "Do I want to help out the new guys who come into this game needing a bit of guidance, a fun warm friendly group willing to make them feel welcome and have fun getting them the simple quests done?"

I picked my social LS, and i'm glad that I did. As much as I really hate seeing many PLDs I know with their god gear, and insane HP vs my regular gear, I still find that having chosen to stay with my social LS was the best thing.

I'd suggest checking out some of the Dynamis shells, that's one event you will be able to participate in if you meet the right lvl requirement because it only requires that you be in that shell for about 3-4 hrs for the event. I currently participate in a dynamis LS, and have a lot of fun. I can do this, and keep my focus to my social LS and help them with the typical things like missions, AF, quests, BCNMs etc etc.

When you're ready one day, and you're not needed as you are now in your LS, you may be able to join an endgame LS and get the gear you're interested in. Don't try to rush through the game, enjoy it and have fun ^^

That's the exact advice I was looking for and didn't know it. Thank You.

I second that. The only endgame activities that interest me now are Dynamis and Limbus for two reasons: they're on a set schedule and they're timed. The day will come when I'm ready to get involved in Sky and HNMs again (I tried it for a short time and didn't like the drain on my schedule), but I'm still not there yet and I don't regret it a bit.

Same, other than the Limbus bit. Zerayla hit it dead on the money.

What i don't get are people who have an hnmls and then do sky with another...

Thanks everyone, I think that is what I am going to do then, look for a Dynamis Shell once I qualify for one and stick to my Social.

Endgame is a huge time sink, and a lot of it can't be regularly scheduled. If you decide that you want to experience it, you have to understand that it will take up most of your on line time. For some people it's worth the commitment, for some people it isn't. Endgame shells do need people who will spend most of their time in shell though.

Runs that can be regularly scheduled though, like Dynamis, Limbus, assault, BCNMs etc still let you experience some of the endgame stuff, without making such a large comittment, and there are a lot of smaller shells (often aligned with the larger shells) that let you try out endgame.

I've found some answers in this thread, thanks cous for making it

I've heard from Darthyoda that joining endgame is like getting married

LOL Pobre muchacho...

Is endgame not good to do if your in college and whatnot? the impression I'm getting that it isnt=/
