{English}PT{No thanks.}

Honestly just /blist the racist players, that way you will never have to deal with them again.

"I also don't think anyone is making any more assumptions about the JP player base as you are about the EN player base."

I guess, but people saying "I'd bet good money on the fact that A) in general EN players are better than JP and B) in general EN players are nicer than JP" kinda told me they were implying something about EN being 'better' than JP when there is no factual evidence or anything, maybe im reading it wrong.

I think I must have skipped over the posts that say that EN players are better and nicer. Or was it just a single post and you've placed all EN players into the same category? Both EN and JP players can be good or bad and most fall comfortably in-between. There are always going to be people who excel at something while others struggle. A majority of posts have made this point as well.

Fact of the matter is people have their reasons to not talk and/or ignore people, just accept it, why does it have to be a bad thing? So someone isn’t talking to you for a reason you DONT know, why does it have to bother you?

As for not getting a reply, no, I don't expect people to talk to me. I don't ask JP Only to party for the simple reasons that a. I won't get a reply, and b. They have made it clear what they want in their seacom. However, when it's not, I do expect players to maintain common civilities and courtesies. While the auto translate function is far from being stellar, it is there for a reason and not very hard to say {No thanks} or {Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.}. Treat people the way you want to be treated.

"I also don't think anyone is making any more assumptions about the JP player base as you are about the EN player base."
I dont think anyone = You think 0 people are making assumptions, so yes even 1 or 2 people would repute this statement.

Also you'd think if someone were to want people to be treated the way you want to be treated you'd give people the benefit of the doubt instead of assuming the worst.

I love playing this game with people that love playing this game; sometimes I just want to get the hell away from all of you and play BST :p

The thing that seems peculiarly Japanese I've noticed is, and, please forgive me for speaking in generalities:

As a whole, the Japanese people are gracious, friendly and hospitable, and, should you work for a Japanese company, you will be treated like family, and well taken care of for life.

Until you get to the top.

There, it seems as though there is much more of a glass ceiling effect, if you will; you can be middle management forever, or even upper management, but if you are not Japanese, you will not run a Japanese company.

I kind of see the same thing in FFXI: when we were Rank 1 sword weilding 18 WAR/ 6 WHM in the Doonz too afraid to provoke something, we were funny.

When an NA LS took down AV, not so much.

Mooshywooshy is dead on point; take people on a case-by-case basis, and don't blame all for the faults of a few. It's called the Golden Rule for good reason; "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" works for everybody.

And for pity's sake, stop sounding so /butthurt about how "we" might have been treated way back when, and pay more attention to how "we" treat each other now.

It's funny, because I believe I just contributed to the population of "JP ONRY" players. I had a ninja in a cannon party who just plain gave up on provoking. We told him to voke, yet he ignored us all.

I grow tired of ignorance, I had no choice to boot him from party and pick up another friend. I'm not about to waste my friends' times over a lazy player.

That's actually not what I was saying. My point was, that yes people are making assumptions, but you are making equally as many.

And I do give people the benefit of the doubt. But as an english speaking player who plays 95% of my play time in JP prime time, I'm quite confident saying that yes, JP players do ignore english speaking players. Being a japanese player you would not find yourself on the receiving and of this stigma as much as english speaking players, because it is far more common for japanese players to be JP Only.

Anyway... (damn edit button)

Reguardless of reasons why japanese players don't want to party with english speaking players or why english speaking players wont party with japanese speaking players, a simple {No thanks} works wonders.

And you gotta be shitting me that 6 of the 9 JP jobs seeking 63-65 earlier tonight were all afk and therefore not able to respond.......

I'm not sure about everyone else, but if I go afk while I'm seeking first thing I do when I get back is check the log to see if I have received an invite. I want to party, that's why my flag is up, 'lets see if I got an invite' is kind of the motivation behind checking the log.

I do check if I got a party while afk, and if I did I usually dont respond. Never thought of that has being completely horridly rude to the point that someone would look down on my entire race. /shrug

And I dont remember myself saying "I'd wager a bet that JP are better than EN players" or "I'd wager a bet that JP are all around nicer than EN players" so you saying I make = assumptions is kinda silly.

I view both races as equal, we're all people, I just dont want this whole thread to be a one sided argument about how the Japanese are all racist bastards who do nothing but ignore people because clearly they are all racist and horrible horrible people because they dont care to say 'no thanks'

It all just sounds kinda childish.

Did somebody say concentration camps?

Weird I never get ignored by jp and even get invites from them when i'm not seeking. From the few I have talked to, most do not want to pt with NA/eu because of the frequent afks, brbs, breaks and w/e else slows the pt down. I have also noticed not many are caught up on what gear you have as long as you do what ever job they invited you for efficiently.

In response to the supposed special treatment Japanese players receive from their GMs, isn't it possible that country laws influence these actions? If I remember correctly, while Western countries have a 'Innocent until proven guilty' policy in place, Japan has a 'Guilty until proven innocent' clause (and Reportedly has a high conviction rate as well). It may be possible North American and Japanese GMs are merely following something similar to this when called upon by players; the English GM is constantly 'looking into it' to remove any doubt of the circumstance, while the Japanese GM's take different action to any reports they receive. Both policies have their merits and pitfalls.

To Mish, being asked to kill yourself was the player's way of saying the offence you comitted could only be atoned for through death (Japanese apparently aren't very high on rehabilitation. Also, a Japanese minister who was involved in a scandal committed suicide). Harsh, I know.

Personally, I haven't had any problem with Japanese. It is possible that they ignore your tells since they do not know what you are trying to say (Much like many NA ignore Japanese shouts for the same reason. There might be a connection to them.) If they ignore you, just move on.

To Meeze, their beaches might be overcrowded but at least my country doesn't have beaches closed due to high levels of bacteria in the water!

Mooshy, your flare for dramatics is amazing...

If you go back and read through the posts again, you might see that no one is "looking down on your entire race." That is a pure manipulation of what people have been saying. It's also a gross assumption of how EN players view JP players, the very thing you keep accusing everyone else of doing.

So far you have successfully misinterpreted and/or misquoted in every one of your posts to make the point that anyone who has posted is saying that JP players are all horrible, racist, and terrible players. And this simply is not true.

The OP was actually an observation about the amount of JP players that adopt the JP Only and {English}PT{No thanks} attitude for what ever reason, compared to the amount of {Japanese}PT{No thanks} you see. While some people are dicks (have shown numerous times in their posts) most have been understanding and offered ideas and explanations about the reasons behind the JP Only trend. This thread is in no way even close to being one sided, and far from being a racial slur.

Bleh no edit, and I thought I'd get in before Mooshy quotes meh on it

By 'no one' I mean everyone who actually thinks before they post, and aren't simply stirring the pot so to speak.

Well ive tried to hold an equal ground, it kinda seems like you want me to say JP are 100% better or something, when its clearly not what I believe. Maybe you could point out some stuff you're thinking of that ive said so I could explain what I meant? Cause I dont assume EN are all racist, I dont assume JP are all non-racist, ive stated this before so im moderately confused.

As with every argument there needs to be 2 sides, I figure in this one there should be the EN side and the JP side, so I figured genuine JP logos would help, but I guess I have done nothing in my writings because even if I were to talk the end of the world away, 1 jp would ignore a /tell and everything would be dismissed and we'd be back to square one.

Mooshy I never said that you said/believe/want you to say JP are 100% better. You do like to throw around that EN players think that JP players are racist. "O noes you think JP's are racist because they don't reply to your tells." and so on and so forth. It's not racist. I have never said it was. It's rude. And no matter who it comes from its rude. Rude does not equal racist.

And you are right there are two sides to every argument. However I don't really find an argument here. Everyone appears to agree on the same general ideas, including yourself. That there are both good and bad EN and JP players. There are both EN and JP players who are racist, while a majority are not.

Oh and btw. Thankyou for replying to my posts^^/

Ah, I see where you are coming from. No I dont think that all the EN are thinking the JP are racist, however it does seem that many people are thinking that there is a negative side to [English]PT[No Thanks] since they tend to put [Japanese]PT[No Thanks] in their search comments as more of a thing to 'spite' others rather then an actual preference.

So I don't want people to think JP are being mean or rude in any way just because they have a preference on how to play their game. In an online world where it isn't required to say 'I'm sorry' or even talk to anyone stuff like this shouldn't carry as much weight as in real life, but I can see how you would be frustrated being an EN player in JP timezone. Im sure it makes lots of stuff a lot more difficult >0<;

This comment bothers me. Just because it's online doesn't magically make it less rude to ignore people. Common courtesy is to at least respond to a party invite, whether you are going to accept it or not. Saying "that's just the way JP like to play" doesn't make it acceptable behavior, it just makes JP that play that way rude.

im from Asura, and i never ever seen this kind of english no thanks before....
when i xp i doesnt talk at all
Its really frustrating to see those kind of comments
Anyway i usally get a JP to ask those to join for me

Well not everything online is going to be the same as real life, you and i both know that. One would feel less pressure to be polite online as opposed to real life. I'm sure many people who play FFXI and talk a lot are in reality shy people, which certainly goes to show not everything online should be compared to real life. When I don't respond to people I don't think that they are sitting at there computer fuming at me in real life for being 'rude' I just see it as 'eh, they get the point'.

EN do it, JP do it, we all do it at some point, that doesn't make us rude people.
