Ok, CHR does not affect Enmity according to SE. If you want the link to the interview I can dig it up I think.

However, everything you do in a fight does, correct? Hits, misses, spells, job abilities, picking your nose, etc.

Now, for Enmity gear, as that is the source of my confusion. I have heard that +3 Enmity amounts to a Provoke. I am thinking that Enmity gear is additive or subtractive? Meaning with a +Enmity item, for every action you do, you get +<arbitrary number> to total enmity count. OR, you constantly have +<arbitrary number> added on top of your current enmity count.

Now for specific questions.

For a Lv50 NIN, which would be more beneficial? +2 Enmity or +5 ACC? Enmity retention being the key issue.

1) Would +5 ACC outpace +2 Enmity in hate retention?
2) Does missing the mob add enough Enmity to justify using two ring slots on +Enmity rather than on +ACC?
3) Just how much Enmity does +2 provide?

I am thinking that +4 Enmity on dual Mermaid's rings would be more beneficial to holding hate rather than +10 ACC on dual Snipers. Given the fact that missing the mob still gains Enmity. And a bonus for Mermaids being I miss out on -20 def that dual Snipers give.

But there are a lot of unknowns to me.

I remember carrying around 1 Mermaid ring with me just in case I needed that little bit of extra emnity.

That being said, Ninja's shouldn't wear dual Sniper rings. When the mob hits you, that -20 def is really going to hurt.
