Evasion/Tank Thiefs List your Gears

Mine is as follows.
1) Azoth
2)Thief's Knife
3)Ungar Boomerang
4)Optical Hat
5)Evasion Torque
6)Bushinomimi
7)Evasion Earring
8)Scorpion Harness +1
9)War Gloves +1 (Waiting for Patrician's Cuffs)
10)Thunder Ring x2 (yes I know not for evasion)
11)Cuchulain's Mantle (Also not for evasion but im only on 2-5 so no Boxer's)
12)Scounter's Rope
13)Oily Trousers
14)Emmisary Boots

This set up gives me and a total skill with Merits of 299 Evasion Skill, 246 Parrying Skill, with additional +46 Evasion and +37 Accuracy.

I have a DD build but what's the point really when you tank.

If you want to "tank" on THF you need to DD (or any other DD job). With your full eva gear you generate too low enmity (and damage). Now, that's fine to solo and all, but as long as you have others DD and/or healers in your party that won't work.

I know most of this isn't EVA gear...but i only swap in my SH, Cobra Cuffs and O Hat when I EVA. I'll also use my Seiryu's Sword if im not used for the TH whore i am.

Hmmm not sure what you mean as I tank very well with that gear. Other than the Major HNM's you don't need all the extra help a RED and THF with maybe a BRD can kill most any of the regular HNM/NM's why would I have a bunch of DD's in our party to have to split the Loot with ? Yes things are slower with a DUO/TRIO set up but can be accomplished quite easily and without a full party to lower the amount of Gil the participants get. I did not say in my original post that I didn't macro in WS gears.

Additionally Collaborator if used correctly does just fine with Hate mitigation.

Duos and trios are different.
It's pretty obvious the responses you got were in regard to your setup not being a tanking setup. Again, solo/duo/trio setups are different.

Seemed to make sense to me, can a thief that needs a full party actually tank? Probably not , I thought SOLO/DUO/TRIO was obvious as the TANK situations. Maybe with another THF to TA a THF could tank in 6 MAN set up but as I had mentioned why bother with that unless you are forced to at which point you might as well get a real Tank.

I don't know what NMs you are talking about but it seems to me that the rdm/nin could solo them anyway

Let's see if we can be sensible here instead of just argumentitive, regular HNM's are the likes of Simmy Krutz and Vivian and HNm's such as Tiamat and Jorm would be considered Major, instead of trying to hate on the topic why don't you just list your evasion set up as the topic indicated.

Additionaly the RED/NIN sounds good but few ever seem to be able to consistently seem to perform on the Level of the now Banned Avesta, more often than not theres a dead RED who either loses the mob to watchers on or calls LS or friends to come "Make it go faster" .

Damn man, I don't hate on the topic, but it's just...Pointless.
Carry an evasion set, or don't.

Mine starts at 314 (or 304) skill and adds loads of +AGI and +Evasion, and includes +Parry while keeping moderate haste. And more worthwhile daggers, imo. TK isn't needed until kill time. Azoth is slow, but hey, it's extra evasion right?

Yeah acc would be good for any race. I didn't mean to gloss over that, but to focus on the evasion.

Solo Trick Attack. As in, Trick Attack without weapon skill.
There's entire sets of gear for that too. ^^

I almost never party up any more, but when I do I still have a full set of gear for every occasion. Not really any need to list it all out though.

Solo TA will work just fine in your duo/trio/small groups or even with your NPC, so I usually bring what I can. If I am farming for hours, the TA set is the first thing to stay in the mog house, lol.

Gotta love the Dance Shoes! Was so glad when they were released so I didn't have to wear the Thief Slippers any more! Love THF hate the way the AF/RELIC looks.
